Why Kevin Daigle chose Granville

I was born and raised in this township and never took for granted the beauty of this summer, winter or fall you get the full effect of every season i longed for the opportunity to purchase waterfront property but the price was always beyond my reach until one day a former emoloyer asked me for help on the demolition and building of a new camp on this private glasier pond. when I commented on the natural beauty of the pond and its surroundings I was informed that property on this pond seldom went up for sale and if it did it was a private sale.i never imagined that eventually I would get the opportunity when my father in law informed me that his friend was selling his property on green pond because he no longer wanted to pay taxes on the undeveloped 5 acre lot

What makes this house unique

if its piece of mind your looking for enjoy the sounds of nature sitting on the front porch over looking this 60' deep natural glacier pond and enjoy evening campfires , swimming fishing, canoeing or cruising the pond on our 10'floating party raft w/electric troll motor or enjoy 270' of waters edge .

Amazing Mountain/Lake Retreat!

  • 5 of 5

Kevin was an amazing host and their house and location is perfect for the weekend/holiday get-a-way! My friends and I truly enjoyed a great holiday out there and loved the remoteness and luxury of the house and property. Definitely recommend!

Wonderful Hideway!

  • 5 of 5

What a great place to relax and unwind. The acomadations were much nicer than expected. We were there on a golf vacation. The property is beautiful and very private. This is the owners primary residence and they take great pride in sharing this hidden jewel. The floating dock (with trolling motor) added a very special treat. You won't be disappointed with this rental!!

A lovely home on a pristine lake

  • 4 of 5

Kevin and Donna go out of their way to make your stay a pleasant one. It is a large home on an open lot which sets on a wooded and pristine glacial pond. The swimming in the pond is nice because of the clean water, but you do need to kayak or canoe out past the lily pads in the cove. My grandson described it as "paradise".

The basement is loaded with ping pong, football and billiards, as well as a hot tub just outside. The house is large and open with a nice kitchen. They provide toys for the kids and a playground for young children.

There is a golf cart for guest use on his trails through the woods. A fire pit is fun for campfires overlooking the lake. Kevin has also brought in sand to make a small beach and swimming hole for young children. He has also made a small, battery-motorized dock/pontoon to carry guests out into the lake to swim or relax. It is very beautiful out on the pond with the pontoon, three kayaks and one canoe.

Be aware that you need to drive up a three quarter mile dirt/stone road to get to the house. Also, you need to drive eight minutes to town to get phone reception, which isn't a big deal unless you have an emergency. There are ways to get around this with an AT&T connection.

Overall, a wonderful stay. Thank you, Kevin, and Donna.

Great potential

  • 2 of 5

First of all let me say that the grandchildren loved the lake, the paddle boat, the kayaks and the motorized dock. They swam and fished...a lot! Secondly, the front porch is a wonderful place to sit and stare at the lake, the chipmunks, the geese, the groundhogs, etc, etc. My husband, our daughter and her husband and I spent many hours watching the kids from there.

Now for the house....it is a work in progress. It still needs to be finished in a lot of places. There is insulation hanging out the floor and the ceiling around stove pipes. There was not a usable tub for the kids to bathe in (except for a jetted tub that is not hooked up to water yet). There was a leak from the toilet on the second floor down into the first floor bathroom. The laundry area had only a toilet and no working sink. There was no a/c, as advertised, nor was there wi-fi. If you consider a paddle boat a pontoon boat, I guess there was a pontoon boat as advertised, but certainly not my idea of a pontoon.

Maybe we surprised the owners being there the first part of June and they simply did not have enough time to clean the house or put the window a/c units in but, (not their fault) it got really hot (91 degrees) a couple of days and it was sweltering in the house. The workout room they advertised is a folded up treadmill in a corner of the dirty basement. (I would not have used it anyway). There were dangerous uncovered, non-GFI plugs around the bathroom sinks and the breaker box was an OSHA nightmare! I have pictures of all of this.

The advertisement says it will sleep 15. There were eight of us and three of the kids slept either on a sofa or a mattress on the floor of the basement. There are three beds, two kings and a double. There is a sleep sofa in the basement but, per the owner, the mattress is broken and you would need to blow up an air mattress to sleep on it (by mouth, I assume). There was at least one other air mattress and two twin mattresses and box springs on the floor. I put the two mattresses together and then had to hunt for sheets for it. There are some baby bed-type beds, but too small for our eight years old and above grandchildren.

We have rented many VRBO's and have always been totally happy with our rentals, but these were all maintained by a property management group. This one was so overwhelmed with the owner's clothing (tons of them) and so much cluttered junk in the basement it was hard to appreciate how beautiful the house could have been.

Peaceful but lots of things to do and great hosts

  • 5 of 5

Kevin and Donna are fantastic hosts and have a great private house. It has rustic charm and Kevin has made sure there's lots to do at their glacial pond home. We stayed with our teenage kids for a "no-devices" 4 day stay. This property is very private but there is activity on the pond and neighbors nearby. But don't use the next door neighbors floating dock as we quickly found out. But aside from that the other folks we ran into on the pond were very nice and seemed like several other homes had vacationers in them as well. All the stuff on site about the amenities is true. They have paddle boat, kayak, row boat and Kevin's fun motorized dock. Though you have to develop some expertise getting it out on the lake through the lily pads, once you're out on the water, its lots of fun. We took it out everyday. Kevin had fishing poles so my family tried our hand at fishing but we really didn't know what we were doing. The golf cart and all the trails through the property was like a mini race track and my daughter loved learning how to "drive". At nights we played all the games in the basement and had a card tournament. The kitchen pretty much had everything we needed for our meals (we also went to the local McD's twice). The beds were very comfortable and bathrooms clean. It was nice to have all the amenities so my suburban kids didn't go into too much of a rustic, rural shock:) The best thing about the stay was Kevin and Donna. When we got home I realized that I had forgotten my laptop bag at the pond house which is over 5 hrs away. I got in touch with Kevin who was great at working out way to ship it back to me the next day but had to go to a Staples in Glen Falls about 45 mins away from their house. I was going to give my credit card number to Staples over the phone so he didn't have to pay for it. Turns out Staples doesn't allow that anymore even though I pleaded with them. So Donna volunteered to pay the shipping fee and I sent her a check. This was really inconvenient for them but they showed their gracious hospitality throughout the process and made sure I got my laptop back. Donna even sent a text to make sure the package arrived. Can't thank them enough. If you're looking for a rustic, relaxing and rural get away on a small lake/large pond with pristine water and lots of amenities than stay at Kevin and Donna's house. Kevin is even putting in 2 golf holes next year! We'll be back...great "unplugged" stay with wonderful hosts.
