Guestbook comments from the manager

Our first time in Cornwall and the scenery is breathtaking. The cottage was very well placed for country walks and the coast path, and easy for the village and The Blue Peter Inn!

Thank you for a lovely stay.

almost like home !

  • 5 of 5

We stayed last summer at Manor Cottage with my family. I am use to go to England every year for holidays and stayed in different places. This time, even if we were in holidays we feel almost like home, as the cottage is very well equiped, very clean and with a special bonus: the garden, perfect place for the children and for barbecue.

Surelly our stay in Polpero did convince us to continu of coming to England for other vacacions, to discover other place like Polpero, wonderfull site not damage by mass tourism yet. Thanks a lot again to the owner for the warm welcoming and all services provided.

Merci from France

A lovey stay !

  • 4 of 5

We stayed in this property in September 2008. The property is situated on a hill only around a 10min walk from the pubs in polperro and certainly kept us fit ! I wouldn't recommend however for people with walking diffiulties and we needed a small torch towards to top where there wasn't much street lighting. That said once at the property it was nice to have our own large garden area (something which is rare in polperro) and the property is very well maintained and very spacious. Another plus was the onsight parking at the property again something which is rare in polperro, many properties state they have parking but you have to walk to a car park, this is not the case at this property. We found the property owner easily contactable and I would recommend this property to a friend. Polperro itself is breathtaking with a number of pubs and restaurants, The Blue Peter is a must and is The Three Pilchards, The Mill and the food at Couch's restaurant was outstanding.

a great time had by all

  • 5 of 5

What a lovely surprise this place was, really cosy, well equipped, and home from home! It was immacutely clean, lovely bedding and towels and the garden was terrific, the kids loved it! We did lots of sightseeing, but somedays just hung out, and had barbeques and messed about in the Garden. The kids loved Looe Beach and the Monkey sanctuary. I loved Polperro, great little shops and cafes and restaurants. Couchs Restaurant was particularly lovely - great service and very varied menu and were very good about having small children asguests.Definately want to come back in the school holidays. Many thanks we had a terrific holiday (not always the case with a young family) The champagne and lovely flowers were most appreciated on arrival. best wishes Ann, Chris and kids

Not quite luxury

  • 1 of 5

We stayed here last year and were disappointed.

The location is great but there was mould in the kitchen cupboards, the cooker was rusting and the furnishings shabby.

There isn't Sky or a DVD player and in general it doesn't live up to the luxury price tag.

Owner's Response: Manor Cottage was reviewed in Jan 08 and given 3 stars by Quality in Tourism Cornwall which means that officially it is much better appointed then the norm.We replaced the hob and the kitchen is well equipped and professionally cleaned before guests arrive. There is a DVD player and Freeview box (NOT SKY).Guests will find spacious accommadation and Laura Ashley furnishings. If anything is wrong or missing we do our best to replace or rectify it immediately we are advised. As the reviewer says the "location is great".

The cottage is situated on the hill to the west side of the picturesque fishing port of Polperro with its restaurants and historic public houses. The village is renowned for its quaint narrow lanes and whitewashed cottages and still retains its old world charm. The coastal walks in both directions are breathtaking, and the cottage is ideally located for day trips to many famous attractions e.g. Eden Project, Heligan Gardens, and places such as Fowey, Mevagissey, Daphne Du Maurier Country, Looe, Lansallos, Truro and Liskeard . There is a wide selection of beaches, sports and adventure parks and wildlife attractions to suit all ages and interests.
