Up for an Adirondack Adventure?

After, during or apart from your stay, take a canoe/camping trip. Park your car at the cabin property and transportation will be arranged for you, your gear, including canoe/kayak, at Lower or Middle Saranac Lake where camping is available on an Adirondack island. At that point, your adventure will begin! Navigate your way back to Kiwassa Lake through the Lower Saranac Lake locks including, if you desire, a night camping during your trek back. Camping will need to be arranged by you but if you are interested, we can direct you to the reservation site.

What to bring

The property is amidst 20+ wooded Adirondack acres. It is wise to bring flashlights and sneakers as the path to the cabin is naturally wooded. Other items: binoculars for the beautiful scenery, hiking/boating gear, food, linens (except pillows), charcoal if you plan to grill, games or books for entertainment (no TVs).

Internet and Cell phones

Due to the Adirondack wooded preserve, Internet and cell phones may not be accessible at your cabin. However, the nearby property and greens are WiFi compatible. Feel free to bring your laptop and set up on the porch (or on a cozy Adirondack chair on the main lawn area).

About Margie Cochran

We own several properties in the area and this cabin is one of our favorites. We have lived in the Adirondacks since 1991 but have been part-time residents since the 1960s. We even attended the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid! We can offer suggestions for activities unless you simply want to rest and relax in a cabin.

Margie Cochran purchased this cabin in 1992

Why Margie Cochran chose Adirondacks

This is the most scenic area in the east! It is an easy place to rest, relax and enjoy life at a slower pace. Kiwassa Lake is an idyllic and quiet lake and most guests return year after year to get away from the hustle and bustle of a faster pace.

The cabin offers a wonderful deck with Adirondack chairs that allow guests to put their feet up, read a book and soak up the view of the water. As night falls, the fire pit on site allows for an outdoor ambiance like none other.

What makes this cabin unique

Our property is a dream come true. While there , guests enjoy bird watching, reading and traveling by boat to the nearby Village of Saranac Lake. Often guests will take in a sighting of the lake's loon and its beautiful calls. Other guests have said they have seen eagles, deer, fish jumping, wild types of birds, etc…

Relaxing, rustic getaway near many activities and attractions

  • 5 of 5

Camp George is a very sweet, neat cabin. The screened porch is just heavenly and a lovely place to sit and watch the boats go by, as well as loons, ducks, geese and herons. My son enjoyed fishing from the dock every moment we weren't boating, mountain biking, hiking or exploring the nearby towns and attractions. I would recommend these cabins to anyone looking for a rustic, relaxing getaway.

May 2016 Fishing Weekend

  • 5 of 5

A friend and I rented Camp George for a weekend of fishing. We were upgraded to Camp Adele, as Camp George was not yet ready for the season. We had an absolutely wonderful stay. Our hosts were most hospitable and accomadating. The housing facilities were most sufficient. We were a few weeks early for a fishing bonanza, but several were caught. We had a most enjoyable time, and will definitely stay with our hosts again.

Great location

  • 5 of 5

I had rented this cabin for my fathers retirement gift and had a great time. The cabin was perfect for what we were looking for. Screened in front porch was perfect for playing cards at night.

The owner is very friendly and accomadating. Several kayaks and boats are there for rental. The location was quiet and relaxing and a great location to fish or kayak as the cabin is located in a short channel connecting two lakes. there is a beautiful view of the mountain tops and sunrise on one of the lakes. The leaves were just barely starting to change but could imagine how nice it would look in about 2 weeks.

Fishing: We caught decent size large mouth bass and pike but word has it there are some big ones. Also about a 20 minute drive to a couple golf courses. All in all a good experience and would recommend it to anyone looking to get away or who want an outdoorsy trip.
