Super Cute Paradise Cottage with Hot Tub and Amazing Asheville Mountain Views

Bedrooms 2
Space 1,100 sq. ft.
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 3 - 4 nights

About the property

Beautiful Country-French Cottage with Amazing Mountain Views right by Asheville

Nestled in the Newfound River Valley, this modern slice of Country-French Asheville is just 15-20 minutes from downtown and has some of the best views in the whole region, with mountain scenes you'd expect an hour or more out.

From the front deck you can see the whole 180 degree panorama of the Newfound valley, reminiscent of a Little Switzerland meeting The Hobbit's Shire. It's beautiful and peaceful, and the sunsets can be breathtaking, especially from the Hot Tub.

Paradise Cottage is furnished and decorated in a modern slightly Country-French style - unique, tasteful and comfy with lots of original artwork collected in our travels. We stay here as well and like it to feel luxurious, peaceful and cozy.

Two good sized bedrooms, both with plush queen beds, look out onto peaceful woods behind the cottage. Our beds are high quality with comfortable mattresses and great linens. We love to sleep, especially on vacation, and are proud of how comfy the beds are!

There's a wood stove which keeps the house nice and toasty in the winter (central heat too if you don't want to build a fire). On the deck you can lounge on the chairs or relax in the hot tub while enjoying the sweeping mountain views. Entertain yourself inside with satellite TV, Internet, Netflix, Hulu, Showtime, HBO and Pandora subscriptions (and anything else you care to find on our Roku player).

This is one of three dwellings situated on a 5 acre family property that has a nice secluded feel. We live downstairs in a completely separate unit. You will enjoy full privacy, but we are also available to help via phone or text if need be.

There'll be a dozen fresh, local, free-range eggs and starter of fresh roasted coffee for you when you arrive provided by local neighbors who run a premium roasting business in town. We also provide all linens for you.

We hope you book with us so we can show you our hospitality!

About John and Kathy

We are married and in our youthful 60's :-) We love to explore Western North Carolina, drive the Blue Ridge Parkway, hike the trails, try new restaurants or return to our favorites ... we love this place!

John grew up in Florida, is a Vietnam war veteran, has traveled extensively, and is a retired federal officer. Kathy grew up in Colorado and is a licensed minister, director of a thriving Community Services ministry, and the church administrator at Foster SDA Church.

Both Serenity House and Paradise Cottage are on the same property. We live in the basement apartment of Paradise Cottage. You will enjoy your privacy; however, should you need us, we are readily available by phone or text.

Why John and Kathy chose Asheville Area

Asheville is one of the prettiest, most unique and interesting cities in America and the mountains around here are absolutely gorgeous. It would be difficult to find an all around better place to live or visit.

When we found this property we were blown away by how remote and peaceful and epic the setting is for only being a 15-20 minute drive to town. I've lived in Asheville for almost 15 years and always thought we would have to go an hour away to get something like this. Sarah, who comes from Atlanta, was accustomed to half-hour commutes to anywhere she wanted to go, and couldn't believe we could live in the country and still get downtown quicker than she could in her Atlanta urban apartment. The only bad part about this property is we don't like to leave because it's just so nice up here, and so our social life can tend to suffer!

What makes this cottage unique

It's really a million dollar view. Sometimes when I'm out on the porch or in the field and the sun is setting I wonder how I got to be so lucky to live in such a place. It makes me think of some iconic Japanese mountain retreat or a vale in the Swiss Alps. We hope you'll enjoy it too!

Spectacular views!

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying at John and Kathy's cottage. John greeted us with a carton of local eggs, and Kathy greeted us with a welcoming card and local coffee beans. The home itself was wonderful with amazing views and had everything we needed to make our stay truly feel like a home away from home. Location wise it was less than 30minutes from downtown Asheville. Although we have a few suggestions (bigger beds, spray oil, a cutting board), it was our first trip using VRBO, and we thank John and Kathy for making this experience unique and amazing for us.

Wonderful mountain cottage

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was well appointed, with all the amenities you need and more. Excellent layout for relaxing. The views are awesome! The cottage was very quiet, and the surrounding area was great for taking walks. Close enough to Asheville for multiple trips in a single day. We reached out to meet our hosts, and they were very gracious and accommodating. Overall, very pleased with the entire experience. Thank you!!

Nice cottage, beautiful view!

  • 5 of 5

My family really enjoyed our stay here. It is on beautiful property and is close to Asheville. There are no hiking trails leading from the property, so you'll need a short drive to start a hike. My kids enjoyed the pretty grounds and the mulberry tree on site! Since it rained a lot during our stay, we stayed in and had a blast playing some of the games on offer, like Settlers of Catan and Risk. Games with wine, snacks, and movies made for a great getaway! We also visited Linville Cavern, which I recommend as a stop when weather does not cooperate. Made several trips to Asheville and loved the soda fountain at the old Woolworths store-made-art-gallery. Also loved Chai Pani and Green Sage, which both offer great vegan options. Also check out Firestorm Cafe and Books if anarchist reads and harder-to-find books are your passion! We plan to come back to hike more beautiful trails, and to explore more art galleries and great restaurants. Thank you, Nick and Sarah!

Very charming cottage with a beautiful view

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay and the house was the perfect size for the four of us. Our kids loved the comfy bed and the hot tub after hiking all day. My husband and I loved drinking our coffee on the porch while looking at the wonderful mountains. At night we were able to open the windows to enjoy the cool night air. Thanks so much for your lovely hospitality.

Great place to spend the week!

  • 5 of 5

It's a cute, quiet, clean and comfortable home. It's close to Asheville, the Biltmore, the DuPont State Recreational Forest, the Blue Ridge Parkway and Navitat Ziplines. We particularly enjoyed the beautiful kitchen, comfortable beds and washer and dryer. The owners, Nick and Sarah, gave us helpful information about the area prior to our arrival, which added to our enjoyable week.
