New house is located on a nice piece of property in a rural setting, about 35 minutes west of Asheville. Enjoy cool summer evenings or gorgeous autumn views on the porch while looking at the mountains in the distance. Fines Creek goes rushing down behind the house, and you can eat on the deck and enjoy the rushing water behind you. Part of the deck is covered and you can grab a book and unwind on the deck. There are many wildflowers and trees to enjoy. The Appalachian Trail is not far away and shopping in Waynesville is great.
We are on a seven acre piece of ground in western North Carolina, in Pisgah National Forest.
We live on this seven acre piece of property, and built the Dogwood House in about 2003. We enjoy living in Fines Creek, listening to the creek going down the mountain, enjoying the views all around the property. We want you to enjoy it too.
Martha Tracy purchased this lodge in 2003
We actually built on family property which had been wooded and have enjoyed using it as a rental.
Well, we enjoy the peace and the mountain stream, the flora and fauna, the views everywhere, and last but not least one traffic light between here and Waynesville!
This cottage is light, airy and modern. It does not have air conditionaing but it does have many fans and the elevation is high enough that it was seldom too warm. . It cooled down to the 60's at night. There is a covered porch with lots of seating. Bring your hummingbird feeders and you will have plenty of visitors There is a stream behind the property which gives great night music. The location is not in the town of Clyde. You would be doing most of your business in Waynesville which Google maps puts at 20 miles away. Asheville is in the other direction, an all interstate route. The owner was great to get any small repairs done. There is no cell service but she does provide Wi-Fi. There is a fire ring. My fsmily visited and we had a great time.
The house is very spacious with large windows so you can look at the beautiful mountains. Sitting on the porch reading and listening to the creek flowing by was s relaxing. The landscaping was beautiful. It is very close to Waynesville and the Smoky Mountain National Park. Cataloochie in the Park has elk, turkeys and deer that you can drive by and they could care less. The owner was lovely, she was very helpful with ideas of things that were going on nearby. We'll definately be back!
The house is just as described with beautiful country and mountains all around. The owners are a wonderful couple. This all gave a hectic wedding weekend a nice little bit of peace and quiet. Keep following Max Patch road up the mountain and you will find a mountain top (Max Patch) where you can get a 360 degree view of all the surrounding mountains.
We certainly enjoyed your lovely home....the mountain view was amazing, and the creek along the house was very relaxing. We will definitely visit again.
