About Undine Achilles-Day

I live with my husband and sons in beautiful Argyll, and I love it.

The holiday houses are on the beautiful Ardrhu Estate, Onich, between Fort William and Glencoe in the Highlands of Scotland.

I have been working for many years as a biologist but have started my own business in February 2016.

I love crafts e.g sewing, woodwork, furniture up-cycling, gardening and meeting people. I greatly enjoy to spend time in Ardrhu, the relaxation, the peace, the countryside are just food for the soul.

Why Undine Achilles-Day chose Fort William

This property has been refurbished to a very high standard. It benefits from central heating and a wood burning stove which provides a wonderful coziness in the cooler evenings. From the sitting room you have a fantastic view towards Loch Linnhe and the mountains beyound. In summer the sun shines all day onto the decking and so invites you to have breakfast or dinner outside.

The cottage has been fitted with a new kitchen incl. washing machine / dryer, fridge freezer and dishwasher.

The bathroom has been completely renovated and is stylish and practical.

In general, the cottage is very unique and homely, the decor has been carefully chosen, and it provides a calming and relaxing ambient. It is suitable in all seasons, and it is wonderful sitting on the sofa and watching the "weather" going by.

What makes this cottage unique

Everyone who visited Ardrhu is blown away by the fantastic setting. There are only few places left which provide you with so much peace, wilderness and beauty.

The cottage for me is a perfect setting for all sorts of activities, whether you like to relax or just go out for adventures. Right between the Nevis and Glencoe mountain range it provides all year activities incl. winter sports. The many lochs and the sea in the area give plenty of opportunity for water sports, including fishing, snorkeling, diving or sailing.

The cottage itself is equipped to our own high standards as we like to spend time there ourselves. We particularly love the view from the sitting room and enjoying a cup of tea by the wood burning stove when it is cold outside.

super loch-side retreat ideally placed for exploration of this stunning landscape

  • 5 of 5

We had a really lovely 5 days at Beachcomber cottage.

The house is excellent in every respect; clean, comfortable, cosy and well fitted out with a fabulous view down the loch. Its tranquility is also a huge plus.

Undine is a very welcoming and attentive host and keen to ensure that guests feel at home and get the most out of their stay.

We had a tandem with us and found a surprising number of flat-ish places to cycle in this beautiful but very hilly place. Onich is an ideal base for heading off to all points of the compass.

Hope to return before too long!

Bristol

Owner's Response: Dear Anne, Thank you for your lovely review. We are aware of the squeaking floorboards but we were unable to do anything about it in the high season. However, the bathroom will receive a makeover this autumn and the floor boards will be replaced. Our sincere apologies, we hope this didn’t infringe on your comforts and enjoyment in our cottage. Sincere regards. Undine

Relaxing Getaway

  • 5 of 5

The Beachcomber Cottage was absolutely wonderful! Located outside of town (you will need a car) but perfectly situated to enjoy the area. We were a family of four (two teenagers) and did a Via Ferrata out of Kinlochleven and Ben Nevis the same day. Undine was very responsive and helpful. The cottage was set up with all of creature comforts of home plus extra fun activities of games and movies. You felt like you were in your second vacation home. The views out the back were stunning and all of the rooms had that extra touch that made it feel comfortable and relaxing.
