CASA KAREN is a lovely 3 bedroomed townhouse with private pool, situated in a peaceful residential area of the popular holiday zone Manta Rota. The accommodation is on 2 levels. On the ground floor there is a large lounge, with a large selection of TV channels and unlimited internet access, a shower room and fully equipped kitchen, both leading to the pool terrace. Upstairs there are 3 bedrooms,1 double with ensuite bathroom, a second double and a twin - with a family bathroom to share. To the outside, the pool is well maintained and perfect for lazy afternoons enjoying the sunshine - with the adjoining terrace and traditional brick BBQ ideal for al-fresco dining in the evenings. The location offers a relaxing holiday time with everything in easy walking distance. The nearest beach of Praia da Lota is just 5 minutes on foot and the village with a selection of restaurants and a supermarket around 10 minutes. The house is ideal for 6 guests, but an additional 2 guests can be accommodated in an occasional spare bedroom on the ground floor, 8 guests in total

Nice quiet house with the beach in a walking distance.

We barely used the pool. Weather was amazing these days.

We had a wonderful time and everything fulfilled our best expectations.

The agency's staff was very attentive and competent.

Casa Karen is exactly located in Praia da Lota which is a just beside Manta Rota Village. Praia de Lota has a wonderful beach just a few minutes walk away from the house and as it is less well known, tends to be less busy in high season! Around 10 minutes walk away (or a short bicycle ride!) is the main Manta Rota Village which as a destination has retained its typical Portuguese charm and exuding relaxed and family friendly atmosphere. There is a great selection of restaurants and cafe/bars, a supermarket, butchery, bakery and cash machine, as well as a selection of shops selling local crafts. The beach is blue flag status and has long golden sands with sunbeds and shades for hire. There is also a selection of excellent courses close by for keen golfers. In the summer evenings, there are stalls and activities in the main square for all to enjoy. Car not essential, but recommended if you wish to explore other surrounding towns in the Eastern Algarve.

THE BEAUTIFUL TOWN OF TAVIRA

We would highly recommend a visit to the wonderful town of Tavira! Once known as the capital of the Algarve, Tavira stands proud amongst Portuguese history books and you will not fail to be enthralled by its unspoilt charm, character and tranquility. As you wander along the cobbled streets, you'll see an abundance of history and wonderful architecture. A Roman bridge links the 2 parts of the town across the River Gilao, its sides decorated with traditional old bars and restaurants - perfect for lazy lunches or a glass or 2!.

On one side of the town there is a large square which has entertainment in the summer months, and by crossing the Roman Bridge to the other side of the town, you will find a little more life in the evenings with a great selection of restaurants tucked away down the streets and a few later opening café/bars. Features and things to visit include the many churches (37 in total!), the Town Castle and the Camara Obscura with its stunning aerial views. There is a range of shops to explore, as well as the old market building recently restored with cafes, shops and artisan, and also the traditional indoor market selling locally grown produce and fresh fish. To enjoy and see the full Tavira aspect, you can take the passenger train which follows a set route around the town, or you can personalize your experience by taking a ‘TUK TUK’ tour in the small vehicles for 2 – 6 persons.

Tavira is the perfect central location, with great bus, train and road networks connecting along the whole of the Algarve Coastline.

OTHER THINGS TO SEE AND DO

…….by travelling a little further afield there are a good range of things to do to suit all tastes. For nature lovers there are forest walks, cruises along the River Guadiana or natures trails along the Ria Formosa Reserve where bird watching is in abundance! By travelling towards the West there are some excellent shopping centres in Faro and Ghia as well as the famous Water Parks and Zoo Marine (wonderful for children), all easily reached by car or by day trip coach (around 45 minutes). From this property it is also easy to take a day trip to Spain. The lovely border town of Ayamonte is not far, and once there you can sample the delights of another country, including wine, tapas and excellent shopping. You can travel by car, or use public transport to get to Vila Real de Santo Antonio and from there take the 15 minute ferry crossing across the Guadiana River between Spain and Portugal. For the more adventurous the vibrant city of Seville is approx 170km away and for budding historians the Castle at Castro Marim is worth a look.
