|Minimum Stay||3 nights|
Location, location, location! Short walk to the Basilica, Parliament and the Chain Bridge. Great amenities close by, including a variety of restaurants, wine-bars, coffee shops, a French-style boulangerie and a handy supermarket just across the street. Ideal for a family or friends travelling together, the apartment is spacious, stylish and luxurious, but also comfortable and homely. The apartment block was built in 1876, and we have preserved all the classical features, such as the original folding window shutters, gorgeous internal doors/paneling and antique brass handles. There is beautiful parquet flooring throughout and high ceilings adding to the sense of space. Sympathetic to the classical charm of the apartment we strive to provide every modern convenience too. The bathrooms are designer luxury, with large walk-in showers and Philipe Starck taps. Even the loo seat is heated! The large open living, kitchen and dining area is great social space for friends or family to be together. The kitchen is modern and well-equipped and the dining table has space for 6 people. There is a large, comfortable sofa with a large-screen TV and DVD player. We provide a limited selection of DVDs for you to watch.
For the warm summer nights, there is air-conditioning in all the main rooms.
There are two balconies, the main one is to the front of the building where it's lovely to sit with your morning coffee or evening aperitif looking out over the surrounding city-scape. The other is a small, courtyard-oriented space off the main living area, designated as a smoking area. Note, the remainder of the apartment is strictly non-smoking.
Typical to Budapest, the impressive building has a large wooden front door opening on to an inner courtyard. The building was recently renovated, with pretty central gardens and a modern glass elevator.
The apartment is easily accessible for a wheelchair, despite being on a high floor.
We aim to make your stay as comfortable as possible, so can arrange airport transfers and help with any advice on the locality. This is our family hideaway in what we think is a wonderful, fascinating, historic, beautiful city. We hope you enjoy it as much as we have.
We are a small family living near Geneva in Switzerland.
I am originally from the UK, my wife is Irish and my young daughter sees her herself as Swiss-French. We believe that we are lucky to live in such a culturally diverse Europe, which is so accessible and infinitely interesting. We like to travel a lot, but Budapest is somewhere we wanted to return to time and time again.
My wife and I first came to Budapest in 2004 for a weekend break. We loved the city from the outset. It's fabulous architecture, thriving culture and beautiful vistas over the Danube left a lasting impression. We returned a few years later, now with our young daughter, to find a base in this wonderful city.
We were lucky to find such a beautiful classical apartment in our favorite location. It is the perfect family get-away and we try to return to it as much as possible, but the fact that we live abroad means it is vacant most of the year. We hope that you enjoy it as much as we do.
Anyone who has found their dream property will recognise the feeling which you get when you first walk in. You instantly know, this is THE one.
The sense of space, the high ceilings, beautiful classical features which had been retained. All this in a fine, refurbished building in the simply the best location we could imagine.
A beautiful apartment in the perfect location. Steps away from St. Stephens, Parliament, the Danube and the chain bridge, it is a tourists ideal headquarters for your stay in Budapest. Restaurants and Christmas Markets were literally right around the corner. The apartment was immaculate, modern and comes with all the amenities of home. You could not ask for a better place to stay. Highly recommend.
Stayed here with my wife and three kids for a portion of our spring break. The owner was super responsive and friendly and helped us book an airport transfer. He also was communicative as our arrival approached and promptly refunded our security deposit within 24 hours of checkout. Friendly assistance with check-in and check-out from Anna. The unit itself lacks nothing and is quiet and comfortable. I wish my bathrooms at home were as nice as these. Comfortable beds and a clean modern kitchen. Highly recommended for a family trip. We walked everywhere from the apartment and covered a huge footprint of the city. Budapest was predictably fantastic. The sunny weather and the spring and easter markets and festivals around town were the crowning features.
Lastly, if you stay here, try and make one or two dinner reservations prior to arrival. Restaurants seem to book up early and often.
We have spent 4 nights (two families: two adults + 1 child each) in a fantastic flat.
The apartment is huge, clean and modernly furnished.
Perfect location in the middle of District 5, the most central and touristic.
There are many points of interest in maximum 10 minutes walking (Parliament, St. Stephens church, the Duna, many restaurants & bistro,...)
The owner, Mr. Rigby, is very kind and friendly.
We shared this lovely apartment with another couple of friends and the wonderful space was a delight to return to each evening. Stylish, super-modern decor and it was warm and most comfortable. Lift up to second floor good for tired legs and carrying up cases! It is ideally placed for both Pest and getting to the old town of Buda, as not far from the Danube and chain bridge. It is possible to walk to most of the major areas of interest. All in all a very nice area to be in and close to many good restaurants. Pomo d'Oro, as others have mentioned, good Italian. We also liked La Maison in Nador Utca for breakfast, brunch or light meals, and Rezkakas in nearby Sos Utca. Small, well-stocked supermarket across the road is very useful.
Our visit to the Opera House for a ballet was memorable. We booked in advance online and for any popular performance think this is advisable, as few seats left a month ahead. Best seats were very reasonable compared to London.
Richard's advice and notes were very helpful. Would recommend it to anyone wanting to spend some time in Budapest. The city seemed to be flourishing and very well cared-for and more prosperous than we expected, having travelled a good deal in Central and Eastern Europe.
This apartment is perfect for our party of 5 - two couples and one single. It is located in the heart of Budapest with all the conveniences - plenty of cuisines, site seeing and shopping. Supermarket is outside opposite of the building. We walked everywhere, as well as taking the trams across the Danube to the Bada side. Anna and her husband were very accommodating. The cathedral ceiling of the apartment make the place feels more spacious. State of the art toilet is another story - fully automated with water spouting, fan, heated seat, light under the toilet..you really don't need toilet papers.. and the rain showers were awesome. Thank you Richard for renting your beautiful home to us. We would definitely come back again.
Spacious well furnished and high ceiling apartment in historic building, with all the comfort our family needed. The location was spot on, with most of Budapest's top attractions within walking distance and Danube just around the block. This apartment is really recommendable. If you are an Italian foodie the rest. Pomo'doro (actually 3 restaurants) is less than 100m from the building, actually all sorts of restaturants are within close proximity. Another great, but quite small Hungarian rest. is Kispiac Bisztrot, next to the small foodmarket at Hold utca. Remember always to book the table in advance!
Perfect downtown location. Nador utca is a 3 minute walk to the Basilica and the beautiful Szabadsag Square, 5 min walk to Parliament Square, the Chain Bridge and the main shopping street. The Opera House and Andrassy are no more than a 15 minute walk. The area is blessed with fantastic choice of restaurants and bars. Here are a selection of my favourites, all within 5 mins walk of the apartment:
Up-market Italian - Pomo Doro
Up-market Italian - Da Mario
Fabulous Hungarian food and wine kitchen
Another great Hungarian - Cafe Kor -
A well-kept secret located a couple of doors down from the lovely Hold utca daily food market - Hungarian bistro
Nador utca itself has great local amenities. There is a well-stocked small supermarket, a bakery, a lovely French-style patisserie with coffee-shop, a couple of friendly neighborhood bars and an upmarket wine bar specializing in Italian wine. Lots of light eating options from sushi to sandwiches and salads. There is also a high-end fitness center and spa, a florist, and cute interior design shops.
For the more mundane necessities of life, there is underground parking available 1 block away, and several bank ATMs in any direction.
If you are hoping to antique hunt while in Budapest, you couldn't be better placed. The apartment is a 5 min walk to the Falk Miksa utca, where you'll find all sorts of interesting antiquarian shops to browse.
Seriously, there is no better location in the city to base your stay.
