Location, location, location! Short walk to the Basilica, Parliament and the Chain Bridge. Great amenities close by, including a variety of restaurants, wine-bars, coffee shops, a French-style boulangerie and a handy supermarket just across the street. Ideal for a family or friends travelling together, the apartment is spacious, stylish and luxurious, but also comfortable and homely. The apartment block was built in 1876, and we have preserved all the classical features, such as the original folding window shutters, gorgeous internal doors/paneling and antique brass handles. There is beautiful parquet flooring throughout and high ceilings adding to the sense of space. Sympathetic to the classical charm of the apartment we strive to provide every modern convenience too. The bathrooms are designer luxury, with large walk-in showers and Philipe Starck taps. Even the loo seat is heated! The large open living, kitchen and dining area is great social space for friends or family to be together. The kitchen is modern and well-equipped and the dining table has space for 6 people. There is a large, comfortable sofa with a large-screen TV and DVD player. We provide a limited selection of DVDs for you to watch.

For the warm summer nights, there is air-conditioning in all the main rooms.

There are two balconies, the main one is to the front of the building where it's lovely to sit with your morning coffee or evening aperitif looking out over the surrounding city-scape. The other is a small, courtyard-oriented space off the main living area, designated as a smoking area. Note, the remainder of the apartment is strictly non-smoking.

Typical to Budapest, the impressive building has a large wooden front door opening on to an inner courtyard. The building was recently renovated, with pretty central gardens and a modern glass elevator.

The apartment is easily accessible for a wheelchair, despite being on a high floor.

We aim to make your stay as comfortable as possible, so can arrange airport transfers and help with any advice on the locality. This is our family hideaway in what we think is a wonderful, fascinating, historic, beautiful city. We hope you enjoy it as much as we have.

About Richard Rigby

We are a small family living near Geneva in Switzerland.

I am originally from the UK, my wife is Irish and my young daughter sees her herself as Swiss-French. We believe that we are lucky to live in such a culturally diverse Europe, which is so accessible and infinitely interesting. We like to travel a lot, but Budapest is somewhere we wanted to return to time and time again.

Why Richard Rigby chose Lipótváros

My wife and I first came to Budapest in 2004 for a weekend break. We loved the city from the outset. It's fabulous architecture, thriving culture and beautiful vistas over the Danube left a lasting impression. We returned a few years later, now with our young daughter, to find a base in this wonderful city.

We were lucky to find such a beautiful classical apartment in our favorite location. It is the perfect family get-away and we try to return to it as much as possible, but the fact that we live abroad means it is vacant most of the year. We hope that you enjoy it as much as we do.

What makes this apartment unique

Anyone who has found their dream property will recognise the feeling which you get when you first walk in. You instantly know, this is THE one.

The sense of space, the high ceilings, beautiful classical features which had been retained. All this in a fine, refurbished building in the simply the best location we could imagine.

Perfect downtown location. Nador utca is a 3 minute walk to the Basilica and the beautiful Szabadsag Square, 5 min walk to Parliament Square, the Chain Bridge and the main shopping street. The Opera House and Andrassy are no more than a 15 minute walk. The area is blessed with fantastic choice of restaurants and bars. Here are a selection of my favourites, all within 5 mins walk of the apartment:

A well-kept secret located a couple of doors down from the lovely Hold utca daily food market - Hungarian bistro

Nador utca itself has great local amenities. There is a well-stocked small supermarket, a bakery, a lovely French-style patisserie with coffee-shop, a couple of friendly neighborhood bars and an upmarket wine bar specializing in Italian wine. Lots of light eating options from sushi to sandwiches and salads. There is also a high-end fitness center and spa, a florist, and cute interior design shops.

For the more mundane necessities of life, there is underground parking available 1 block away, and several bank ATMs in any direction.

If you are hoping to antique hunt while in Budapest, you couldn't be better placed. The apartment is a 5 min walk to the Falk Miksa utca, where you'll find all sorts of interesting antiquarian shops to browse.

Seriously, there is no better location in the city to base your stay.

Fantastic apartment in Budapest

Four of us (two couples) spent three nights in this wonderful apartment. It is the perfect mix of old world charm and modern amenities. The location was perfect for wandering the beautiful city of Budapest. Richard answered all of our questions immediately, and arranged our transportation to and from the city. Anna helped us settle in and recommended a great restaurant. Highly recommend!

Large, stylish apartment in the heart Budapest

The apartment is an old (and rather elegant) building and it is clean and modern. It is on the second floor and there is a good lift. The rooms are large with high ceilings. There were three of us and we only used two of the three bedrooms. The third bedroom is not as grand as the other two but still adequate. The two bathrooms (one of which is ensuite) and the kitchen are well fitted out. Although we didn't, you would be able to cook full meals her and the dining table comfortably seats six. The apartment is extremely well situated, with many of the key sites and plenty of restaurants within easy walking distance. If we were to come to Budapest again we would definitely consider re-booking here.

Budapest Apartment

Great apartment with nice beds. Great location, very close to sightseeing activities and restaurants! We stayed here for three days with two couples. Appreciated the espresso/coffee machine and the TV, as it had American shows. Also the WiFi was good. The second bathroom shower is a bit of a problem as the shower water is not well contained within the shower area. Other than that, our stay was great!

Great Location, Wonderful Stay

The apartment was lovely, bright and clean. You couldn't ask for a better location. Restaurants and historical sites surround the apartment.

Richard was a pleasure to work with. He responded right away to any questions that I had. The arrangements for pick up and drop off at the airport when seamlessly. The only minor complaint we had was that the TV's reception was very spotty. We had to reboot a number of times and even then the signal went out. Since we do not watch a lot of TV it was not a major problem but would have liked to keep up with the news a little more than we could because of the bad reception. Other than that we had a lovely time and really enjoyed the apartment and the service we received from both Richard and Anna.

Fabulous Place and Location

Place is large and beautiful. Ideal location in the town center.

Chain Bridge is very close be sure to walk there at night.

Anna was very helpful with transportation from the train station and to the airport.

Highly recommend this apartment.

This property is outstanding

The apartment is really spacious and appointed to an extremely high standard. All the rooms are well equipped and have a lovely open feel. Its position is absolutely perfect and we were able to walk to most of the major sites. The key holder was very helpful and booked taxis etc.The owner responded very quickly to emails and gave us some really useful information. I would highly recommend this apartment, it is absolutely perfect for a stay in Budapest and I cannot recommend it highly enough.
