Why Dinah Hancock chose Bradford-on-Avon

The Old Chapel combines period charm with modern convenience in a really lovely location. It is located in a car free road ensuring total peace and quiet. The chapel is Grade II listed and built of the local stone with attractive arched 'ecclesiastical style' windows and exposed beams in the second bedroom. It benefits from facing south and enjoys sunshine throughout the day.

Excellent

Absolutely super. We could walk into Bradford on Avon from the cottage. The cottage was really really well equipped and very comfortable. All in all we had a really good four days holiday.

A perfect home from home

  • 5 of 5

We loved everything about this cottage! The house is beautifully decorated, very comfortable, absolutely clean and tidy and equipped with everything. Dinah made us feel very welcome with all sorts of goodies at our arrival. We also found the location great, Bradford is a lovely town and a lot of sights are in easy driving distance. Would highly recommend staying there.

Beautiful, well-appointed home in historic building

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at this beautiful, well-appointed home in a historic, renovated chapel. Our first impression was of beautiful wisteria blooms draped above the front door, breathtaking against the ancient stone walls. A small front patio with a table, chairs, and a bench invited us to linger in the warm sunshine, but we were eager to see the inside. A modern interior with upscale furnishings greeted us inside. We enjoyed the comfortable and luxurious beds and linens and the shower was a treat, as it was much larger than any others we had encountered on our travels around Britain. We enjoyed the gas fireplace as it added a cheery, warm element to the living room. We took advantage of the modern kitchen, cooking a few meals with items we picked up at the co-op grocery shop, a mere 5 minute walk away. Our only regret is that we didn't have more time to spend in this amazing place. Highly recommended!

Cosy stay in the Old Chapel

  • 5 of 5

The Old Chapel provided a very warm, clean and comfortable stay for our visit to the area. Our boys loved exploring the character cottage, and enjoyed sleeping upstairs in the eaves. All the beds were comfortable and the whole feel was very homely. It was very well equipped with plenty of nice little touches, such as a vase of fresh daffodils, toiletry bottles, tissue boxes and a nightlight which was useful for the boys coming down their stairs to the bathroom. The kitchen had everything you could need; our boys enjoyed helping us to use the coffee machine! We enjoyed the contents of the hamper, and there was milk and lurpak butter in the fridge which was useful too. There were instructions available for all the appliances, the heating, and other useful information. The good side to having cold, damp weather was the fact that we could put on the fire and enjoy being cosy.

Parking where instructed wasn’t a problem, though we didn’t have to use our car during our stay. It was a quiet road. There is a small co-op very nearby, and a steep walk into Bradford-on-Avon centre didn’t take long. It took us about 20 mins to walk a little further on to the train station, so it was easy to get to Bath for the day. We would definitely like to return to the Old Chapel someday.

Fabulous Holiday Cottage

  • 5 of 5

We have had a wonderful stay here. Everything you could possibly need is supplied & a wonderful food hamper was a very welcome surprise on arrival. We absolutely loved staying here & would definitely consider staying again. Perfect location for a trip to Bath; one of our favourite local farm shop/cafe Hartley’s in Winsley; near to Longleat & another fab farm shop/cafe & award winning fish & chips at White Row. Superb! Thank you.

The market town of Bradford-on-Avon is steeped in history dating back to Roman times. It owes much of its prosperity and beautiful architecture to the wool trade. Today visitors enjoy exploring the historic buildings, interesting shops, numerous restaurants, cafes and pubs which are scattered around the narrow streets. The Kennet and Avon canal which played an essential role in the wool trade now offers visitors the chance to walk, cycle, canoe or take a boat trip through the beautiful countryside.
