About this property

A Calm & Rural Retreat

The hamlet of Levert (all four houses) is situated at the head of the Vallée de l'Aspre, just below the Col de St Georges.

This delightful semi-detached cottage, with all the accomodation to be found on the ground floor, has been newly renovated. It includes a spacious living room leading to a good sized kitchen diner, a double bedroom with kingsize bed and a fully tiled wetroom/shower. Outside there is a large garden, including a wooden decking for outside eating and a small courtyard infront of the house. Laundry facilities and storage space is found in one of the old converted piggeries. Sun loungers, cushions, and BBQ are also provided. Whilst canine guests are welcome, please note that the garden is not entirely enclosed. Please note there is no wifi or internet connection in the house.

The cottage is perfectly placed to enjoy the many outdoor activities available. There are walks to suit all levels, from 1 hour easy terrain walks to more challenging GR tracks. Mountain bikers and road cyclists are also well catered for with an impressive network of tracks and quiet lanes. It is also possible to try paragliding, canoeing, canyoning, via ferrata and swimming.

Cultural pursuits include amongst other things, a selection of chateaux, museums and in August the renowned street theatre festival in Aurillac.

The house is in a very rural setting which is extremely calm and tranquil but does mean that the local supermarkets and commerces are approximately half an hour away. There are small 'epiceries' in both Fontanges and St Projet de Salers for basics.

Rural charm and peace
Probably rates as the most peaceful, most rural retreat we've ever booked and we've been to France a lot. Ok, the weather was exceptional and sitting on the decking in the evening sun and rural calm was memorable. This particular region is really lovely with unspoiled villages and countryside all around. The accommodation is spacious and very well equipped for two. Good contact from the owners who were more than helpful. There are plenty of walks in the near vicinity and Salers and other local villages are a delight. Plenty of wildlife for the enthusiast but most of all a real sense of being away from it all.

A super relaxing cottage
The cottage is in quite a remote place which suited us fine. A lovely area to walk in with tremendous views even on short walks. The cottage is simple but very well furnished and equipped. There is a good outside sitting area which we made use of every day. The owners where very helpful and friendly. Giving information about shops (all a drive) and walks. The later was very helpful as my partner had a leg injury which restricted what we could. All together a very pleasant and relaxing couple of weeks.

A lovely cottage in a delightful location
The owners of the cottage, Hannah and Keith were very helpful and provided a warm welcome to the cottage. There was a folder with much useful information on the area. The cottage is set in a very quiet and tranquil location, nestled in the upper valley with three or so other houses, but with a couple of larger villlages (with small shop) only a few mins drive away. It was very clean and tidy and had all the things you need including a washing machine which was very useful. The kitchen was well equiped with all the necessary gadgets and utensils, the bedroom very comfortable and nicely decorated. The living space was really spacious with huge inglenook firplace with a woodburner which, unfortunately, we were unable to make use of due to the hot weather. The wet shower room is compact but very clean and stylish. The cottage is set at the edge of a large plot which gives a lovely sense of space. One of the real delights was eating outside in the evening on the decking area (bbq and fuel included - nice touch!) which provided the most beautiful views down the valley to the west with the setting sun. A real time to savour! A good network of roads provides easy access around the area for walks and cycling, and there are some beautiful villages to visit, including the renowned Salers. There are some very nice restaurants in the area. We tried one in Fontanges, the Auberge de l'Aspre, which was excellent. If peace and quiet, and a great sense of tranquility are what you are after then this is a fabulous getaway. Probably the only thing missing for me was a wifi connection but if you are trying to 'getaway' perhaps this is not such a bad thing.
