Out Of Village
The exterior of the property was lovely and it was a beautiful area to sit around the pool. Unfortunately, the inside of the house was disappointing for the amount paid. There was a smell of damp in the property which was noticeable when sitting on the sofa . We did not store our clothes in the wardrobe because it made them smell damp. The property was part of a larger building and the part we stayed in had been renovated but the other part was empty and rundown. I can only assume this is where the issues of damp lie. We hope this is accepted as constructive criticism.
A wonderful stay.
It is a cute little house. The pools was a nice addition. The house location is in a micro climate so the weather is cooler than other areas. We would have liked it a little warmer for the pool, but that is not the rental’s fault. Many beaches and castles are close to explore.
Fabulous and pleasant property and owner
we arrived on Friday and Mafalda met us there. the property is stunning, and the pool greatly appreciated.
there are some fantastic restaurants in the village especially the one at the end of the lane.
the kitchen was well equipped and we were able to cook when we decided not to eat out.
overall a very enjoyable and relaxing stay
Great property, very private, lovely pool which the kids loved!
Really great stay in fact we were rather sad to leave and wish we’d booked it for longer.
Mafalda was very friendly and gave us lots of good information for outings etc.
Kids loved the pool!
BEAUTIFULL LITTLE HOUSE
We stayed for 2 weeks in this very well equipped and clean house.Everything You need is there!
From the house you can easily reach wonderfull beaches, good restaurants and the Serra da Sintra, also Lisbon is easy to reach.
We hope to come back soon and recommend the house and the friendly owner Mafalda!
We stayed a week at this lovely cottage. The cottage is well equipped, very clean and comfortable. It's close to Sintra and lots of wonderful beaches are nearby - if you want to leave the great pool! Mafalda, the owner met us nearby on arrival to take us to the cottage and provided us with some helpful local information for which we were grateful. Some great restaurants nearby. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend a stay at this cottage and hope to have another stay sometime soon
Colares is situated on the southwest side of Sintra on the Atlantic coast.
The village of Colares is absolutely delightful and has long been a very popular summer resort. Has all the necessary conveniences and public transports to beaches, Sintra and Cascais.
Colares is a wine region (DOC), the Ramisco vines are some of the oldest in Portugal, known for its deep colour, and can be tasted at the Adega Regional in a very beautiful building in the village.
Colares has mild winters, an ideal summer temperature which never gets too hot, the autumn is ideal too, is like a second spring.
Beaches: Adraga, the closest, was ranked one of the 20 ‘perfect beaches in Europe’ by the Times in 2002
There are plenty of beaches to choose from along the coast within 15 minutes drive, including Praia da Adraga, Praia Grande and Pequena and Praia das Maçãs, each offering its own beauty and charm with sandy coves.
Further up the coast beyond the village of Azenhas do Mar is the spectacular Aguda beach. Access is a down a narrow path along the cliff edge. Not for the faint hearted but well worth the trip for the hardy!
One of the main attractions is the tramcar with a lovely journey that starts in Sintra (in Estefânia, next to the Sintra’s modern art museum), has a stop in Colares and ends in Maçãs Beach.
The town of Sintra is of rare historical and architectural importance. The hills are a monument in their own right, we sense the magic of Sintra Mountains, as the local people have for thousands of years, they used to call it the Mountain of the Moon.
Sintra village is known for its quaint little buildings. Up on the hills, the National Palace, the Moorish Castle, Pena Palace, Monserrate and Regaleira are all fascinating.
