We LOVED our stay at the fishermens retreat. It was simple and very comfortable for my Husband and I. The location was very plesent and so were the owners, they were very accommodating to our needs. The lake is absolutely beautiful and full of bass. Thank You Mike and Joy, we hope to visit again next year.

Great Place to Fish in Peace

Really a nice place. It is so quiet A really big water to fish. But you only have to go 1000 feet to fish for the big bass. Domestic shiners sold within walking distance. Our boat motor impeller was working but that was ok because the trolling motor was all you needed to get to the fish. Lots of stumps and cover, clear water. Do not recommend racing through these waters. But that's probably why it's such a great place to fish. Also lot's of great places to eat within 3 to 10 miles. Everything you need in the cottage. Launching and docking you boat 60 feet from the cottage is really nice. It's not really vacation if you have to trailer your boat to the water every time you go out. A boat bigger than a 21 feet may be an issue here. Mike was really nice and assists you if needed. Thank You Mike

Mike was incredibly helpful and available. My 15 year old son and I really enjoyed the kayaks and the paddle boat. We slept with the windows open and I loved all of the night sounds around the water.

Couldn't be better!

A variety of boats, paddles, and floatation devices (at no extra charge) makes it easy to access Lake Rousseau, which is perhaps the last undeveloped lake in Florida. Quiet and scenic. Supposed great bass fishing, too, but we didn't have time to get out on the lake. We did fish off the dock, and caught a big freshwater catfish, but it was too heavy for our line and broke free. It will be waiting for you. Mike will send directions, and it's a little tricky to follow them - just go slow - but once you get to Miller's Landing, you'll be very satisfied. Nice, big, comfortably furnished area that includes the bed, easy chair, couch and TV. Dining area, too, which is right off the fully equipped kitchen. All amenities included, plus some items that were stocked in the kitchen. Free washer and dryer use as well. We enjoyed our three nights and think you will, too.

The property was as described, a cute studio, with plenty of room, ceiling fans and A/C.

We had a great time using the paddle boat that was provided, but unfortunately did not catch any fish. This property is central to all of the activities in the area.

Mike and Joy were gracious hosts tho us, in their little corner of heaven!

WE are a year round destination where you will experience a corner of the world filled with great scenery, heron, egret, and other abundant wildlife; there is a designated birding trail near the Inglis Dam, just two miles from our property. Bring your camera and capture some of the greatest photo-ops imaginable. we are located in secluded, unspoiled area only 6 miles southwest of Dunnellon and 7 miles northeast of Cristal River. In our area you will find modern stores, quaint shops, friendly people, and a pace of life you might have thought was gone forever. If boating and fishing are what you like, our 3,500 acre dam controlled lake is one of the finest in the state for trophy sized bass and great crappie and bluegill. Lake Rousseau is fed by the Withlacoochee River and the natural springs of the Rainbow River, which flows into the Withlacoochee at Dunnellon. These two rivers provide Lake Rousseau with an abundant supply of water. While fully navigable, Lake Rousseau is not traveled at high speeds due to the presence of stumps, so your fishing won't be disturbed by jet skis or wake from others passing by at a break-neck pace. We have our own private boat launch. And just two miles from our property, there's a public water launch below the dam, where you can put in and reach the Gulf of Mexico. So freshwater or saltwater, we've got access to both! Our property is within easy driving distance of many of Central Florida's main attractions as well as local ones, including viewing West Indian Manatees in their natural habitat. Were within two hours drive from Orlando or Tampa, and about thirty minutes from Ocala and just over an our from Gainesville. We look forward to your stay...
