About Glenna Hopper

I grew up here and helped build the house which started as a remodel of our horse barn and expanded from there. the inside paneling is the original 1930's exterior wood from the barn. The house has offered sanctuary to 4 generations. we have watched the land and ecological succession over the years and have bird records since 1971. We love sharing our home and sanctuary with others and offer the spiritual transformation of peace and solitude.

Glenna Hopper purchased this house in 1978

Why Glenna Hopper chose Big Horn National Forest

Enjoy a relaxed home with all of the amenities, but with the added luxury of outdoor activities, wildlife abounds, some species of hummingbirds nest only here. We've seen bears and mountain lions passing through, no worries. Moose have wandered on to the porch. the fishing is amazing. walks are soothing and rejuvenating. and yes theres social activities. A beautiful church. hikes out the back door. horseback trips, fishing but mostly peaceful solitude and rejuvenation.

Great old rambling house!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I stayed in Glenna's house in the run-up to our son's wedding in Big Horn. It was ideal for us! Plenty of room inside for 4 families, lots of space outside for two little boys to run and roam, humming birds by the dozens, a horse and mule, well stocked kitchen, a million books, and a million things on the walls to observe and enjoy. We highly recommend Glenna's house as a fun place to stay while enjoying the many sights, sound, and activities of the Sheridan area.

Great Place for a Family Getaway

  • 5 of 5

The house is incredibly spacious with beautiful mountain views. You are in the middle of nature. The house also has everything you could possibly need for cooking and relaxing. There were 7 of us, and we all had a wonderful time.

An amazing place to stay.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for 5 days as part of a family holiday from the UK. Initially we chose it because of the perfect location to do some of the major history sites such as Little Big Horn, Fettermen massacre and Fort Phil Kearney. But we fell in love with the house and its quirkiness, it is full of interesting objects and books and so well stocked. Although Sheridan and Buffalo are easy to get to, we wanted to get home every evening to barbeque dinners and watching the wildlife. It felt like home and wished we could have stayed for longer.

Fun Family Retreat

  • 5 of 5

This was the perfect place for our 10-day family reunion during Rodeo Week 2017 in Sheridan, Wyoming. Our group included our 86 year old father, his Australian Shepard, three sisters, and our husbands. And we actually had beds to spare!

The little town of Story is a mountain community just a short drive from Sheridan. The house proved to be a great "base camp" for us as we took part in the rodeo week activities in town, hiked and fished nearby, made day trips to local historic sites, and explored the beautiful Big Horn Mountains. The house is rustic, eclectic, full of interesting art work, books, and mementos from the owners extensive travels around the world. It is a fun old house (that once was a barn) with a ton of personality. We especially loved the dining room, with it's huge table and mismatched chairs -- great place to gather for dinners with family and friends (haha, we never knew who was going to show up!). The setting is awesome, lots of wild turkeys, birds, deer, and we even heard a moose comes around occasionally! The owner's adorable pet horse and mule always came over when they saw us outside -- for a scratch and a carrot if we had one.

This is country. If you want a western ranch-style hangout, a place big enough for a group like ours in a beautiful setting, a place where you can feel relaxed and put your feet up, you will love it.
