Property passed down from mother and father. Originally a homesteaded ranch, the cabin was built in the Scandinavian style by my father, brother, and husband in 1974. Over the years the ranch has been used for hay farming, barley production, horses, and cattle. Elk Creek directly out the front door of the cabin runs year round. Wildlife abounds.
Cozy, comfortable, quiet and peaceful. Private and secluded but close to town for restaurants and a myriad of activities and services.
had a wonderful time here. location is beautiful & peaceful yet easy access to town. vistas are amazing. log cabin itself had everything we needed. it's bigger than it looks in the pictures. hoping to go back in the summer! mary, the owner, is a treat & we look forward to our return! :)
I can not say enough great things about our stay. It is a charming family place to ease your soul. The views are magnificent and the house and property offer you comfort and charm. Every day was better than the last .
My husband, myself and our 2 dogs stayed at this property for about a month. It was absolutely wonderful! We read in a previous review and Mary the owner said it to us too, "you'll never want to leave". They were right! There is something almost magical about this place. You feel this amazing sense of calm and contentment with a splash of curiosity.
The property is spectacular! There are numerous places in the yard to sit and enjoy the scenery. With the way the property is situated you have 360° views. Both my husband and I worked remotely while here and 80% of the time my office was outside on the deck or by the creek. It was a dream! If you have to work while here the Wifi is great and our cell phone service worked perfectly. I don’t think I’ve seen our dogs happier either! The yard is fenced in and they could roam freely. There was so much for them to see, sniff and explore. The yard was full of green lush grass that they could roll, run and nap in. The free range cattle were grazing around us and that was constant visual stimulation for them. It was doggie paradise.
The cabin itself was very welcoming. You could see and feel the pride in the craftsmanship of the home. I loved wandering around and finding little bits of history throughout it. It seemed like everything had meaning, a purpose and a story. We stayed in the bedroom downstairs and it was very comfy. My husband and I remarked at how well we slept here. The house has everything you need.
We also fell in love with the town and surrounding areas. The people in Hailey are so friendly and Ketchum/Sun Valley has so much to offer for the outdoor enthusiast. We hiked every evening with our dogs and rarely repeated a trail. The area is very dog friendly. The views were breathtaking, from rolling hills to the national forest to Wood River. Something for everyone!
We've rented numerous vacation rentals over the past 7+ years and I’ve never met an owner like Mary. She called a couple of times to see how we were doing. I found myself swapping stories and pictures with her about our adventures. You could tell she knew that the place was special and she genuinely wanted you to feel that too.
I really can’t say enough about how much we loved this place! We’d been traveling all summer renting vacation rentals along the way and this was our favorite! I’ve been sharing our journey with our friends and family and this place quickly became a favorite with them too! We can’t wait to come back!
