About the property

Pretty 3-bedroom dog friendly cottage sleeping 6 located in the heart of Exmoor

Middle Leys Cottage has been tastefully redecorated throughout and re-furnished using soft pastel colours and quality furnishings. The attention to detail can be seen is the double lined curtains and subtly painted floorboards, which give the cottage a relaxing air, complemented by the stunning Exmoor countryside. The cottage accepts two dogs, so is ideal for going on long walks with the dog across Exmoor.

Enter the French doors that welcome you into the well-equipped kitchen/dining room with its oil-fired Aga, gas hob, electric oven, combination microwave, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. A separate utility room houses the washing machine/dryer.

The sitting room at Middle Leys has a large comfortable sofa, and three arm-chairs that frame the room and its focus point – the wood-burning stove, which burns both wood and coal. Here you’ll also find a large flat-screen TV and a DVD player.

There are two gardens at Middle Leys the first is positioned just outside the kitchen and is perfect for alfresco dinners. Alternatively, there is a larger, enclosed garden accessed via the living room, which is great for both dogs and children. The views from here are spectacular.

Upstairs are three bedrooms, all of which feature 100% cotton sheets. The bedrooms include a good sized double, a Master, which has lovely views, a king-size bed and an en-suite bathroom, and finally a double/twin bedroom, which benefits from zip and link beds allowing it to be made up as a either a double or a twin depending on your requirements. The final room upstairs is the family bathroom, which is fitted with a bath with shower attachment, a toilet, a bidet and a wash-basin.

Middle Leys is one of two cottages situated on Leys Farm. They are located deep in the heart of Exmoor and yet only a few miles from the classic Exmoor village of Withypool. Approached by a shared country track, it is surrounded by the owners land, home to their animals and dogs.

There are several excellent eating places within easy reach and there are rural heritage sites all over Exmoor, with one of the oldest bridges – Tarr Steps – within easy reach as a vigorous walk or short car journey. The River Barle is within walking distance, while Dunster Castle and some of the best beaches in the UK, are a short drive away.

Leys Cottages offer a fantastic base for walking, hiking, horse riding and many other country pursuits. As with everywhere in North Devon the cottages are within easy reach of the coast as well as being in the middle of Exmoor.

Please note Middle Leys can be booked in conjunction with Lower Leys for groups of up to 10.

Cosy and welcoming, beautiful, peaceful location.

  • 4 of 5

Spent a week here with family and our dog. Cottage is comfortable and cosy and the village and surrounding area is lovely. Loads to do, long walks in woodland of on the moors. Close to coast for dramatic cliff walks and beautiful scenery.
