Uniquely located just 3 blocks from Georgetown Lake, Greys Cabin is all that you need for a comfortable, worry free visit. The home has beautiful lake views and is within walking distance of the marina. It offers remarkably easy access to Beaverhead/Deer Lodge National Forest and Anaconda/Pintlar Wilderness where recreation and solitude await. Greys Cabin sleeps six, featuring two bedrooms with a queen, a double bed and a sofa bed in the living room. A fully equipped kitchen, gas fireplace, washer/dryer, satellite television and wi-fi complement this modern home that presents forested hilltop vistas. A wrap around deck invites guests to barbeque, enjoy the company of others, and watch for occasional wildlife. Greys Cabin is a place where guests can kick off their shoes, relax, and enjoy lakeside living for a few days or a few weeks.
Built in 1977, the cabin is a work in progress and still has a lot of its "70's charm". If you are looking for that picture perfect "Log Home" cabin, this may not be for you. We have decided to rent to vacationers and let others enjoy what we have enjoyed since purchasing our cabin. Also, it will help pay for improvements and upgrades we have planned over the next few years. It is priced just above what the local motels charge for a typical studio type room and bath with no view of the lake. So for the price, you can't go wrong.
PLEASE BE AWARE OF THE FOLLOWING.....
A Four Wheel Drive Vehicle is required to access the cabin during winter months. The road leading up to the cabin has a fairly steep incline. You will not be able to make it up the hill with a two wheel drive vehicle when there is snow/ice on the ground.
My mother grew up in Anaconda and my Grandfather worked at the Smelter. As kids my brother and I came to visit our grandparents during the summer and always enjoyed the small town atmosphere. We own the house my mother grew up in and my grandfather built on Locust street in town. We decided to purchase the cabin at the lake so we could vacation and eventually spend more time here when we retire.
Georgetown Lake is one of Montana’s premier blue ribbon fisheries offering nearly year round angling for trophy rainbow and brook trout and kokanee salmon. Georgetown Lake and the surrounding mountains also provide excellent hunting. Elk, and both species of deer are the most desired. There are also permits for black bear, wolf, mountain lion, antelope and lottery drawings for sheep and moose. There are three golf courses close to Georgetown Lake. Fairmont Hot Springs Resort has an 18 hole par 72, 6742 yard course. Anaconda Country Club is a 9 hole course that is open to the public with bargain prices for membership and for green fees for non-members. Old Works Golf Course is a Jack Nicklaus signature course that has been repeatedly named by industry publications as one of the top rated public courses in the country.
the deck was the perfect place to sit and enjoy the beautiful views . The kitchen was well stocked and clean. We might have been concerned without air but it turned out to be pleasant at night and never needed it. I would recommend this property and stay here again.

We visit Georgetown Lake every year and stay with my Uncle, so we are very familiar with the area. This time we needed a little extra room because of extended family that were visiting. We stayed at Grey's cabin for 3 nights and we were very happy with the accommodations. The Grey's description of the cabin is accurate, it is not super fancy - but it was much more then we expected for the price. First - the cabin is filled with everything you will need for cooking, laundry, etc. This made our stay very convenient. Second - The fire pit and balcony are wonderful. Our two nieces stayed with us and we roasted marshmallows in the evening and played board games that were provided. Every morning my husband and I had coffee on the balcony. The view is AMAZING! On our last night a MOOSE was grazing right in front of the house. For us, Grey's Cabin was everything we were hoping for and we're looking forward to staying again next year.
My fishing buddy and I have fished Georgetown Lake for about 10 years now and for nine of those years stayed in cabins on the lake. This is a first at the Grey's cabin. With the many return trips to the lake, I understand the accommodation options that exist around the lake and the relationship between price and value. This cabin is a good value. As fisherman our interest is in finding clean, comfortable, well outfitted, and appropriately priced accommodation with close access to the lake. That is what we got with this cabin. We hope to enjoy another stay next year.
My fishing buddy and I would highly recommend Grey’s cabin if you want a comfortable, reasonably priced accommodations that put you in close access to a wonderful lake. Also the surroundings and hill top views are fantastic.
This a good place to start from...nice location, good neighbors if you have kids, and the best part was that there many items , utensils, foodstuffs that saved a lot of shopping. We had two young grandsons who had a blast. Plenty of clean room for two couples. The property needs some repair but we weren't there to buy the place. Might be tough to get down the road in winter!!! We would rent again.
A cozy place on the hill with an unbelievable view of Georgetown Lake and Discovery Ski Area. Take off hiking, cross country skiing, or snowmobiling right from the front door. Located in an area of ample snow, access sometimes requires four wheel drive! Don't worry about the smaller size, good furniture and two bedrooms, this place can accommodate a family.
The cabin has everything you need for a comfortable stay plus a great View. If you are planning on staying during the winter season heed the owners advice regarding the access road. The last 100 yards of the access road is steep, think Lombard street in San Francisco, an all wheel drive vehicle or front wheel drive with good tires is a necessity.
Try one of my favorite hikes to Storm Lake Pass. Take Strom Lake Road which is off Highway 1 just before Silver Lake. Walk across the Dam and follow the trail. About 3 miles to the top of the pass.
Beaverhead/Deer Lodge National Forest and Anaconda/Pintlar Wilderness right behind property
