Georgetown Lakeview Cabin

Bedrooms 2
Space 800 sq ft
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

2 Bedroom, 1 Bath Cabin with Lake Views

Uniquely located just 3 blocks from Georgetown Lake, Greys Cabin is all that you need for a comfortable, worry free visit. The home has beautiful lake views and is within walking distance of the marina. It offers remarkably easy access to Beaverhead/Deer Lodge National Forest and Anaconda/Pintlar Wilderness where recreation and solitude await. Greys Cabin sleeps six, featuring two bedrooms with a queen, a double bed and a sofa bed in the living room. A fully equipped kitchen, gas fireplace, washer/dryer, satellite television and wi-fi complement this modern home that presents forested hilltop vistas. A wrap around deck invites guests to barbeque, enjoy the company of others, and watch for occasional wildlife. Greys Cabin is a place where guests can kick off their shoes, relax, and enjoy lakeside living for a few days or a few weeks.

Built in 1977, the cabin is a work in progress and still has a lot of its "70's charm". If you are looking for that picture perfect "Log Home" cabin, this may not be for you. We have decided to rent to vacationers and let others enjoy what we have enjoyed since purchasing our cabin. Also, it will help pay for improvements and upgrades we have planned over the next few years. It is priced just above what the local motels charge for a typical studio type room and bath with no view of the lake. So for the price, you can't go wrong.

A Four Wheel Drive Vehicle is required to access the cabin during winter months. The road leading up to the cabin has a fairly steep incline. You will not be able to make it up the hill with a two wheel drive vehicle when there is snow/ice on the ground.

Why John & Denise Grey chose Anaconda

My mother grew up in Anaconda and my Grandfather worked at the Smelter. As kids my brother and I came to visit our grandparents during the summer and always enjoyed the small town atmosphere. We own the house my mother grew up in and my grandfather built on Locust street in town. We decided to purchase the cabin at the lake so we could vacation and eventually spend more time here when we retire.

What makes this cabin unique

Georgetown Lake is one of Montana’s premier blue ribbon fisheries offering nearly year round angling for trophy rainbow and brook trout and kokanee salmon. Georgetown Lake and the surrounding mountains also provide excellent hunting. Elk, and both species of deer are the most desired. There are also permits for black bear, wolf, mountain lion, antelope and lottery drawings for sheep and moose. There are three golf courses close to Georgetown Lake. Fairmont Hot Springs Resort has an 18 hole par 72, 6742 yard course. Anaconda Country Club is a 9 hole course that is open to the public with bargain prices for membership and for green fees for non-members. Old Works Golf Course is a Jack Nicklaus signature course that has been repeatedly named by industry publications as one of the top rated public courses in the country.

Great view, cabin type feel

  • 4 of 5

Easy to get to, fully stocked kitchen, comfy beds, comfy & beautiful living room furniture. We chose to dock the boat at Moose Marina as it was easier to just leave the boat in the water. Karen there is super nice and very helpful.

We were there during the fire near Phillipsberg and so quite a bit of smoke. But that's to be expected this time of year in Montana with thunder and lightening after a dry summer.

No complaints only compliments! Will try to get back next year too.

Oh and the moose! Wow! Saw a cow and yearling calf and this year's calf and a bull!

Thanks for having us!

PS: I ate the last of the ice cream sandwichs and couldn't find the same ones to replace them, sorry! Hope you liked the ones I left.

Exactly as pictured.

This place has everything you need to have a nice time. The deck has a beautiful view of the lake. We enjoyed our evenings out there barbecuing and soaking it all in. The lake is just a short walk down the road, very convenient location. Additionally, We found some games in the closet that we took full advantage of and played with our daughter. The only downside to our trip was the beds. They were new and clean but extremely uncomfortable. All in all though, we had a great time and it was a nice place to stay.

Great View

  • 5 of 5

Spent three nights here in August, 2017. Located in area of cabins above Georgetown Lake. While older than others, it was well sited for panoramic view of lake and featured a wrap-around deck. Property was clean and very well-equipped. Made a good base for exploring Anaconda and Philipsburg areas. Access road is steep but doable in "city" car.

Once again a wonderful stay at the cabin over looking the lake

  • 5 of 5

My fishing buddies and I were back on Georgetown Lake and used the Grey’s cabin for a second year in a row. As with last year we found the accommodation a great place for accessing the lake and s very favorable option based on our accommodation needs and the value. As fisherman our interest is in finding clean, comfortable, well outfitted, and appropriately priced accommodation with close access to the lake. Again this year that is what we got with this cabin. We hope to enjoy another stay next year.

I would highly recommend Grey’s cabin if you want a comfortable, reasonably priced accommodations that put you in close access to fishing a wonderful lake.
