This 300-year-old traditional Irish cottage is completely renovated with a cosy interior. The cottage is situated in a quiet environment on private grounds with a beautiful garden and a large lawn with a splendid view of Dunmanus Bay. The detached cottage is tastefully furnished. The open-plan kitchen is fully equipped and has a 6-seater dining table. The living/sitting room has a lovely wood-burning stove where you can sit down to enjoy the fire. The wooden floors, doors, cupboards and ceilings give the house its cosy feel. The cottage is in an ideal location for nature lovers to go for walks (the famous Sheep's Head Way walking trail), to play water sports, to go fishing for brown trout (Farnamanagh Lake) and lots more. Within walking distance (1 km) from the picturesque village of Kilcrohane with shops, restaurants and pubs and Farnamanagh Lake, Monastery Ruin and the pebble beach. An ideal location from which to explore the environment and drive along the Goat Path. This route, which will take you to the north side of the peninsula, features a splendid view of the sea and mountains. The ring of the Sheep's Head Peninsula also offers splendid views and an abundance of historic locations.Discover Neolithic tombs, prehistoric sites and mythical landscapes, unraveling Ireland's history There's al golf course in Bantry (25 km).

De familie Tobin heette ons welkom in het huis bij Kilcrohane. Een prachtige plek met vrij uitzicht en opvallend oorverdovende stilte. Het huis is van de grootmoeder geweest en John heeft vroeger veel in het toen wat vervallen huis gespeeld. Uiteindelijk is het opgeknapt en sinds de negentiger jaren van de vorige eeuw wordt het huis verhuurd. De voorzieningen zijn er goed, de open haard een welkome bron van verwarming en sfeer. De ruimte rond het huis is groot en het uitzicht prachtig. Kilcrohane is een kleine plaats met enkele restaurants, die overigens niet elke dag open zijn, enkele pubs en een postkantoor annex pub, buurtwinkel, lunchroom en benzinepomp. Wandelen (delen,of 'loops' van Sheep's Head Walks), een bezoek aan Garinish Iland, Bantry House en het wat verder gelegen Cork is de moeite waard. Het is goed toeven op dit mooie stukje Ierland.
