A quiet, private cedar cottage; cozy and quaint is located in rural Ka`u on the Big Island, Hawai`i. You will find all the amenities of home here including satellite TV, DVD's and internet. The house is very clean with a personal touch which makes it even more appealing. A motorized reclining sofa and a queen bed provide comfortable rest. This 3 acre parcel is nicely landscaped and well kept. The panoramic ocean view from this property includes South Point, Ka Lae, the southernmost point in the United States. Spectacular sunrises and beautiful sunsets enhance this peaceful property. As well as colorful rainbows! Plus... you can enjoy an amazing night sky and stargazing!
White and Black sand beaches are within a 40 minute drive. Taking a hike from South Point you can visit Green Sands Beach. You can also hike and enjoy Manuka State Park or a subsidy of Volcano National Park, both are 10 minutes away. Shopping, restaurants, post office, and gas stations are nearby. It's the perfect place to sit back, relax, and enjoy island living without getting caught up in the daily hustle and bustle of life! Elevation is 1,080 feet.
This quaint hale was spotless and gifts awaited of chocolate dipped mac-nut cookies, coffee and fresh flowers which were provided by our gracious owner. There was good reading material and movies and internet to take care of business. There is a great ocean view and relaxing on the sun porch was a plus. The location was great was able to travel to the Hilo side in a day. And could go to the Kona side another day. It's close to the volcano and the black sand beach. And the sunsets spectacular the stars a plenty.......I would recommend this jewel on Big Island
I don't mind giving this rental a 5 star. We enjoyed this rental to the max. It was a private piece of heaven. The night sky was awesome, lots of stars. l was really ready for some rest and peace as I have been on over load and this was definitely the place for us. Thank you Cindy for sharing your lovely home with us. I recommend this one highly.
Ranchos (southern part of the island) is my favorite neighborhood on the Big island. Half-way between Hilo and Kona, so great for day trips, then driving home to a serene, cute cottage where birds sing, quiet abounds and a gazillion stars light the sky at night.
You can drive around the whole island in about 5 hrs, but stopping is a must, so we took 10 hrs.
This cottage is older, but has been well-kept with care. The bed was very comfy, the bathroom is large. The whole house was very clean.
The sunroom was our favorite spot to sit, look at the ocean, catch our breath and enjoy a cooling breeze.
The yard seemed to have the best floral and fauna in this area.
Internet was good, but the TV did not get local news, but there were quite a few movies, if one was inclined.
The neighborhood is gated, which is nice. We maybe saw three other cars the three days we stayed at this house.
The kitchen is a good size, but I had to take a star off: there was a coffee maker, but no coffee. In all the VRBO's I've stayed in, this was a first.
The owners were a pleasure to communicate with, and very nice.
All in all, I can recommend this lovely, little cottage.
This was a great place to recharge, peaceful and beautiful with many attractions within driving distance. The place was very homey, well appointed, well stocked, extra clean and comfortable. The hostess was very welcoming and took care to answer our questions yet leave us to enjoy our privacy. We visited some incredible beaches nearby including Honomolino of Blue Hawaii fame, Ho'okena, an accessible family beach, Punalu'u Black Sand Beach with its famous turtles, Green Sand Beach by escort service, and smaller beach parks like Whittington and Kawa. We also hiked nearby Manuka State Park and Kahuku Preserve, part of the National Park, a place with stunning views from paths and roads. It was the best to come back to our quiet cozy accommodations after these day trips. We had a wonderful time and would absolutely stay here again. Great for adventure travelers, nature lovers, and close enough to everything in the Volcano National Park as well.
This little gem tucked away in the Ocean View area is so peaceful. The coastline views of South Point are beautiful. The house is well appointed and so adorable-it has everything one would need for a stay. Kitchen is well equipped and there are large grocery stores nearby for shopping needs. The elevation is cool and nights are comfortable here for a great night's sleep. The cottage is very clean, neat and nicely decorated. Very homey. A great getaway place.
From the minute I stepped into this adorable Hawaiian cottage, it was cozy, super clean, beautifully furnished with antiques and beach memorabillia. It is so well equipped with everything from books , candles, to everything you need in a kitchen. The sunroom is so nice in the evenings with cool breezes. It's equipped with wifi and TV. There is an awesome restaraunt just at the top of th entrance about 4 miles away called "Me'hes". Great local "Ono" fish N chips and cold drinks, and about 20 minutes away is the famous, most southern tip of the USA's Punaluu bakery! You have to try their daily made Malasadas and chocolate eclares. And just down the highway a little ways from there is black sand beach where you can see turtles basking on the hot black sand beach every day around 2:00. Enjoy the cooler temps down south of the island and enjoy the Kau coastline. Fresh fruit stands all the way from Kona to Na'alehu. It is about an hour and 10 minutes from Kona and about the same from Hilo. Get away from th hustle bustle in Kona and enjoy the true Hawaii. This little cottage sits on 3 acres and is super quiet and peaceful. The owner is such a nice person and a pleasure to work with. Excellent customer service! This is truly Paradise! I would recommend this beautiful little cottage to anyone who loves a clean, beautiful place to spend their honeymoon or just vacation!
Ka Lae also called South Point is the southern most point in the United States. According to historians, the first Hawaiians may have landed near here from the Marquesas as they arrived in their ocean going canoes. Several ancient Hawaiian sites are located nearby.
During the winter months, one of the most spectacular sites from the point is the magnificent humpback whale. The Hawaiian Islands comprise the most significant breeding grounds for humpback whales in the entire North Pacific. What a delightful sight it is to watch them with their young calves. You can enjoy these friendly and energetic creatures display activities like tail slaps, fin waves, and breaching. When a humpback whale breathes, air rushes out of the blowhole at nearly 300 miles per hour and can be seen from a great distance.
