A lovely detached period property 15 minutes from Clonakilty and less than 10 minutes from Rosscarbery, Unionhall and Castletownshend in West Cork. The accommodation has nearly 2 acres of sloping gardens, 4/5 bedrooms/playroom, kitchen, 2 reception rooms and 3 bathrooms. There are the most fascinating places to visit with a fantastic selection of shops, restaurants and pubs in the villages and towns nearby. There are also lots of golf courses, sailing and fishing at the nearby villages, attractions such as Model Railway Village which is delightful and if you prefer beaches, there are lots nearby including, Incydoney, The Warren and Owenahincha. For those who like hiking the location couldn't be better with the start of Carrigfadda hill walk located at the front gate right beside St. Peter's church. Fabulous property

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in this charming property for a week with 6 friends. It was spacious, clean and well equipped and easily accommodated our party. The owners were very helpful running up to our stay and we could not fault anything. It is situated in a beautiful spot in rural West Cork.

It was very comfortable and was certainly like staying in your own home. We have stayed in other rental properties in West Cork that are quite basic in terms of furniture, kitchen equipment, bedding etc. I would highly recommend staying here.

Fabulous house, fabulous location, totally reccommended

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in the beautiful Carigfadda House for a week with 2 families with ages ranging from 14 up to mid 50's, everyone had a great time. The house itself can easily accommodate a lot of people with plenty of bed space, lots of different communal spaces and a huge garden at the front and at the back.

A well equipped kitchen and separate dining room, 2 bathrooms and an ensuite toilet, plus a fab library on the upstairs landing with great views over the countryside. The owners have made the house very comfortable, with TV, internet, games and a wood burning stove.

The house was easy to get to ( from London!) with a short flight to Cork and a pre booked car from the airport took us @ an hour, good roads and very little traffic.

Theres lots of useful info about local activities, places to eat and pubs for the craic. There's lots to do locally. One of our favourite days was spent off the west coast near Baltimore on a whale safari - we saw dolphins and humpback whales which we will never forget. 2 of the adults are keen swimmers so we also spent time at the glorious local beaches on the Atlantic Way. Other highlights included the stone circle at Drombeg with incredible views over the fields down to the sea.

West Cork has great places to eat, Clonakilty and Skibbereen are nearby and great places to visit - especially as when we were there the 2 Irish rowers were the cause of great celebration.

Overall highly recommended for a great family holiday or with friends, with lots of activities for everyone in a great house, in a great location.

Perfect base at the gateway to West Cork

  • 5 of 5

Quaint and spacious, this house is the perfect launching spot to explore West Cork. 15 mins from some lovely beaches and less than 30 from Clonikilty. Comfy spot, just don't forget to turn the water on in plenty of time for a shower as it takes a good 15 to warm up. Enjoy.
