Wonderful property, central and quiet. Highly recommended

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay in Vacche. The apartment is very centrally located and convenient. Not too many stairs to get up to the top, and the terrace is a great place to wind down after walking all over Rome before heading out to one of the many nearby restaurants later in the evening. Air conditioning was a big plus. Highly recommended!

A true taste of Rome.

  • 5 of 5

Andrea and Savio arranged transfers to and from airport which went very smoothly. The location of the apartment is perfect for walking easily to all the major sites. If you want to feel you have stayed in a little piece of Rome then you will not be disappointed. We didn’t want to leave! A few stairs to get to the apartment but well worth it. The bedroom with the terrace was so pretty and we had breakfast every morning on it. Seeing previous reviews regarding the shower, my husband is over 6ft and didn’t complain, it all adds to the charm. You are in an apartment in the centre of Rome, slight noise from local bar, but from someone who lives in a rural area, I loved the buzz and it didn’t disturb our sleep on the most amazing comfy bed. We hope to visit Rome again and would not hesitate in booking or recommending this apartment. Thank you to our hosts.

Loved this apartment. Lovely decor & lots of character. Good kitchen gas worked well. Shower lots of nice hot water. Very comfy bed. 3 flights of easy steps. Great location beside Piazza Navona. Owner very helpful for checkout - organised private car to airport for us which was cheaper than the unhelpful taxi driver from train station made us walk a few blocks. Owner very responsive via email and on vrbo

If I could leave no stars, that still would be too much.

I booked the Vacche apartment for 4 nights and left for a hotel after 1 miserable night there. There was loud music playing from a bar/disco below the apartment nearby which kept my husband and I up most of the night. The next morning we discovered the black mold in the bathroom and the shower, beyond disgusting. In fact, the general cleanliness of the apartment was disappointing. The navy bed cover did not look like it had been washed ever, the floors were dusty and dirty, the towels smelled horrible. The terrace does look at all like the photos here, the furniture is all broken and the terrace is in shambles. The Vacche apartment is not advertised accurately. When I tried contacting the "owner" through VRBO to cancel the remaining nights, the response was:

"I am sorry you are having this issue but I cannot process a refund for that, I am sorry as it is not something that depends on me. Also, the reservation has been confirmed for a long time and a cancellation now would be in a 100% penalty, I'm sorry".

Our issue is that the apartment presented in these images and description is not reality. We were sold something that was not delivered. If we had known there is a bar/disco below with loud music we would not have booked. If we had known there was black mold in the shower and the apartment would not be clean, we would not have booked. If we had known the terrace was in shambles and all the furniture was broken, we would not have booked. This response and overall experience was terrible.

Owner's Response: Dear Daniela, We understand that your overall experience at the apartment has been affected by the noise. Downtown Rome is scattered with pubs, restaurants, cafes, nearly every single spot has a public place. This is the first time I amreceiving such a bad review concerning a loud bar nearby, though, my guess is that it’s usually quieter. It may have been really bad for you not to sleep, we are really sorry about that. What I meant in my reply to your message sent at 12:25 am, the one you posted on your feedback, it’s that there are circumstances beyond my control, in this case I couldn’t take any course of action in order to stop what was going on in the street. Far for being careless about your discomfort, only unable to do something for exceptional events unrelated to my accommodation. On the other hand, I could have helped you in any issues concerning cleanliness. My commitment is to deliver a clean and spotless apartment, always. Maybe this time I failed, but I would have appreciated you raising all your remarks straight away, in order to verify and, in case, fix the various problems in due course. It's a shame I haven't been able to discuss the matter with you and find a satisfying solution for your stay in Rome. All the best,

Can't beat the location, very nice patio - and yes, small (short) bathroom

  • 4 of 5

We are familiar with Rome, and Piazza Navona area in particular, and knew that this location was going to be good, we were not disappointed! 1-2 minute stroll to Piazza Navona, tons of restaurants, cafe's, gelateria's, and walkable to almost any other place in Rome (20+ minutes to Roman Forum/Colloseum). Yes, there are a few (3?) flights of stairs and no elevator, but if that's a detrement - then Rome may not be the city for you...

Would give 5 stars for the location and rooftop patio alone, but two things to note:

Small shower: Yes, all showers in Italy are small, but the height of the ceiling in the shower is what I'm specifically referring to. I'm 5' 10" and the ceiling in the shower must be 5' 10.01" because I fit, but just barely.

Coordination wasn't the smoothest - (ultimately wasn't a hassle for us, but ended up that they had to wait for us since we were delayed getting into Roma due to traffic. They were using my cell, but I had specifically told them to use my wife's, as mine would be off. As like most properties in Rome, it's managed via a rental company and not directly with the owner - so the contact on HomeAway was a different person than who met us at the door - and that led to the miscommunication)

So, to re-cap. If you're okay with a small and short shower, then this is a can't beat location. We will be looking to see if this apartment is available again when we come back.

Great place, great neighborhood!

  • 4 of 5

Everything was great here. We enjoyed our visit. The only improvement the owners could make would be to get a shade umbrella and stand to use in the hot afternoons. We highly recommend Vicolo Vacche 7
