great cottage in a wonderful place

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay very much in Knowle, situated down a very quiet country lane, 5 houses and fields. The cottage has nearly everything you need for your stay, Warm and cosy with the heating and 2 log burners if you need both on which we didnt.

We had snow on boxing day evening, a snowman was rolled together Wednesday morning and the village was like living in Austria, beautiful.

All in all a lovely place to stay , very helpful hosts when a question needed to be asked, will be back in the future for a walking holiday .

COMFORTABLE & COSY CHRISTMAS on CLEE HILL

  • 5 of 5

Exceptionally well-equipped, warm and welcoming cottage nestling in the beautiful scenery of south Shropshire. It really was a 'home from home' and the addition of a decorated Christmas tree in the living room was a lovely surprise!

We also appreciated the washing machine/dryer and all other 'mod cons' which made our stay so comfortable. Sat Nav meant we were able to drive straight there despite the horrendous weather on the evening we arrived! Customer service was excellent and we were urged to contact the owner should there be any problems. There weren't.

I would definitely recommend this cottage to friends/relatives, though must mention that the stairs are extremely steep and not for anyone who has problems with knees, balance etc., (thinking of elderly relatives).

We visited Ludlow and the surrounding area, and would have liked to visit the Fishχp shop on Clee Hill but it was closed over the Christmas period!

Would definitely return. No question about it.

value for money

we enjoyed our stay the cottage provided us with everything we needed, especially the tv package plenty of movies for the kids as we had one very wet day and it provided us with the entertainment we needed. there were other little extras we werent expecting, there was plenty of towels, washing up liquid, tea towels, toilet rolls which was nice as in the past we have stayed in haven caravans and you get nothing in them. the cottage was clean, tidy, the kitchen has everything you need, oven, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, toaster and kettle. the bedrooms are spacious and clean. the main issues for us were the stairs they are very steep and with kids we were paranoid of them falling, especially in the night as you have to go down them to use the toilet, but no one did. we felt the bathroom would benefit from joining the bath and shower together so you could have a big bath with shower over head. this cottage is ideal for walkers and lovers of peace and quiet. the garden was on the small side for us so we sent our boys to the field to play. it was close to the attractions we wanted, west midlands safari park, cadbury world and bridgnorth. would be nice to see the pub reopen as its so close the cottage but we stocked up at the local tesco.

Owner's Response: We are pleased our guests enjoyed their stay at the cottage. The SKY TV movies package and large DVD library has proved popular entertainment when needed. In addition to the extras like towels, washing up liquid, tea towels and toilet rolls, we also provide dishwashing tablets and all wood and coal for the fires. In the kitchen, with electric oven, microwave, dishwasher, washer/drying machine, toaster and kettle, we also have a wine cooler and fridge/freezer. As the stairs are very steep (with a door at the bottom) we have mentioned this is our listing and also advised in the advert of the downstairs bathroom. We like the idea of a large bath with overhead shower but other guests have appreciated the traditional bath and separate shower cubicle we have at present. This cottage is ideal for walkers and lovers of peace and quiet and although the garden is small there are miles of open spaces and countless walks starting at the garden gate. The cottage is close to many attractions. In addition to The West Midlands Safari Park and Cadbury World, there is the Severn Valley Railway, Blists Hill Victorian Village, Berrington Hall, Croft Castle, The Black Country Living Museum, RAF Cosford and of course the famous market town of Ludlow, nearby. It’s a shame that the nearby pub is now closed, but you can take footpaths to The Bennetts End and Colliers Arms or walk across the common to The Golden Cross, each within about a mile of the cottage.
