About Ruth & Marc Bagley

Myself (Ruth) and Marc have lived in Scarborough all our lives, Marc is a Merchant Navy Sea Captain ...... so you could say you would be staying in a 'Captain's Cottage'

We have two young children that love to visit the cottage as its so close to fun things to do like a walk near the castle and visit the arcades and beach only moments away. Not to forget indulging in some fish and chips follwowed by a 99 ice cream !

Ruth & Marc Bagley purchased this cottage in 2016

Why Ruth & Marc Bagley chose Yorkshire Moors and Coast

The main reason we chose this property to set up as a holiday cottage is the location its excellent ! Literally moments away from the Scarborough seafront, beach, harbour and many more attractions. Also perfect for visiting the north bay too.

Newly refurbished to a high standard.

Very family friendly.

What makes this cottage unique

This cottage is located close to Scarborough Castle on the headland perfect for exploring both of Scarborough's bays- the South Bay with its harbour, beach, fun arcades, cafes and pubs, and the North Bay a quieter more rural area with its beach, lovely walks and famous open air theatre!

A traditional fisherman's cottage in the heart of Scarborough's old town with beamed ceilings, complimented by a modern twist of a brand new fitted sleek modern kitchen, brand new furniture throughout and recently decorated to a high standard.

Luxurious linen, towels and extras!

Amazing location, beautifully decorated and the ultimate finishing touches

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Driftwood cottage for 3 nights with our toddler and had an absolutely fantastic time. The cottage is so cosy and well decorated, it really is a home from home feeling you get when you walk through the door. It's so well located for a walk out on to Scarborough sea front. We were concerned about parking but needn't have been as parking permits were left for us and we managed to park opposite the cottage.

Communication was second to none, speedy and responsive every step of the way.

Thank you for the lovely welcome pack and gift for our son, he loved it. We will be visiting again and have already recommended the cottage to our friends and family x x

Perfect cottage in a great location

  • 5 of 5

Lovely property, located right in the heart of Scarborough. Cottage well presented - with seaside theme. Spotlessly clean, well equipped with everything you could possibly need. Owners very pleasant to deal with - thank you for the 'treats' awaiting us on our arrival, especially the wonderful cream cakes.

A great base to explore Scarborough and the surrounding area. RSPB reserve at Bempton Cliffs is a must if you are visiting between April and June. Hundreds of thousands of sea birds breed on these cliffs during these months. A real treat to see puffins in their natural habitat.

Whitby and Robin Hood Bay are both worth a visit, as is the pretty village of Helmsley.

Thank you Ruth and Marc - we hope to return next year

Great cottage, beautifully presented.

  • 5 of 5

Just returned from a lovely stay at Driftwood Cottage. The attention to detail is superb and everything is thought of down to slippers to wear around the cottage. The seaside theme goes throughout the property adding to the holiday ambience. Contact with the owners was very efficient, and the treats awaiting us on our arrival were much appreciated. All the equipment you could need for your stay have been thought of and provided. With the parking permit provided we had no problem parking even on a bank holiday weekend. The cottage is in a great location for exploring Scarborough which we did mainly on foot, but the open topped bus along the promenade gave us a n enjoyable journey home from the North bay. l

Lots to do and see on the doorstep.

The cottage was lovely and just as shown on the photos. Clean, nice and warm and well equipped. Ruth and Marc had kindly left us a few treats in the fridge which went down well upon arrival. Lovely location, we couldn't have asked for more !. We would definitely come and stay again. We are Sorry to leave

Lovely little cottage with lots of character

  • 5 of 5

Stayed here over the Easter weekend and have found the cottage idillic and perfect for our family and stay.

It's location is a 3 minute walk to the sea front and despite the street being quite busy with cars etc... the noise levels were not a problem, especially during the night. One tip, if you get parked on the street, I would suggest leaving the car there for the duration and utilising the public transport network to get about, as parking can sometimes be difficult, although we were there during a busy period, and the owners leave you all the permits required for the stay.

The cottage itself is really pretty, with many nice little touches that make it pleasant and easier, especially for those with children. Yeah, the sofa/chairs are on the small side, but this was not a problem for us and anything bigger would take away the cottage/aesthetic feeling to the home. The bedrooms are spacious with plenty of storage, and with everything catered for and taken in to account for the little ones, there was nothing more we could have asked for.

The owners communicated perfectly prior to our stay, and even got the place ready in time so we could get in earlier on arrival. There were welcome bags for both of the kids which they loved, and a bottle of wine in the fridge ready for us... perfect! Everything was ready and made up to a very high standard, and the parking instructions left so we knew what we needed to do. Perfect in every way!

All in all, a lovely stay with lots of nice touches to make our break all the more memorable and easier. Would recommend to anyone, be it families, couples - both young and older, and the location is perfect. The weather was nice too.

Thank you very much to Ruth and Marc. Hopefully we'll be back again.
