Willow Cottage - beautiful location, but disappointing inside

  • 2 of 5

Willow cottage is in a lovely setting, however there were quite a few things wrong and a very peculiar smell in the lounge and main bedroom which lasted the whole week we were there. We felt a visit from the manager to make sure everything was in order would have been beneficial. We love Northumberland and have visited many, many times, but would not return to this cottage.

Owner's Response: I am sorry you felt this way. We have had several guests before and after your visit none of whom have experienced the same problems as you and when we cleaned the cottage before and after your stay there was no evidence of a smell so it’s a mystery! I am disappointed with this review as I have responded to you several times since your visit and we are contactable at all times - as is indicated in e mails and in the cottage. We can not rectify issues if we are not informed. We wish you well in your future holidays

Willow cottage is very cosy and spotlessly clean.

  • 4 of 5

We had a lovely stay at Willow cottage. The cottage is well equiped and perfect for a family of four. The cottage is next to a series of other cottages but away from the road so very safe for children. The cottage is near to lots of different places to visit but in the countryside so very peaceful. I would definitely recommend it.

Good in part

  • 3 of 5

Generally very acceptable, however the 2 single beds in one of the bedrooms were very musty and we had disturbed nights sleep because of this. We also couldn't open the windows to try & get some fresh air in. I was glad we'd taken our own pillows, but on returning home they had to be aired for 2 days!

We BBQ d and ate outside on 2 evenings but the garden was neglected and full of weeds & long grass. Alongside was a bit of a building site - although obviously not their fault.

Finally the washing up bowl was in desperate need of bleach or ideally replacing - as a caterer I was not impressed!

Sorry to be so negative, but sadly I would probably not look at your agency again.

Thanks Anna

Owner's Response: Hi I am really sorry that you had a negative experience - we usually get extremely positive feedback! We leave our number so we can assist with any problems and could of helped during your stay. The window has since been looked at and fixed. The washing up bowl was clean but admittedly marked so I have replaced. The grass had been cut one week previously but is growing like wildfire in the sun/rain! Once again I am sorry you had problems and wish you the best on your future holidays.
