About the property

5 bedrooms, 4 with stunning views, 2 bathrooms, plenty of space to spread out.

Primrose Cottage is beyond compare. Once two cottages, now joined by an imaginative extension to provide a beautiful and spacious holiday home where everyone can find their private area, or come together as a group to celebrate the joys of such an inspiring space.

The vast living room gives onto the orangery and then the lush and well planted grounds, which fall away to the ponds in the distance.

The whole family will love gathering in the large kitchen and dining room which opens onto the gardens and the rear patio for the evening sun.

The master bedroom has its own bathroom, with romantic double ended bath, finished with hand made tiles by the owner.

There's an accessible bathroom on the ground floor, and three other bedrooms upstairs in what was once the larger cottage. Up here every bedroom has a great view and there's a double, twin and a single room.

The family bathroom has a rainforest shower, and large bath, and there's a WC in the hall too.

The hamlet of New Mill is just four miles from Penzance with its main line station, all the shops you need, ferry port for the Scilly Isles and the famous lido. St Ives is a beautiful drive across the moors and then along the stunning north cliffs, one of Britain's great drives.

Much of this area is a UNESCO World Heritage site in recognition of the importance and beauty of the remains of its mining past.

About Seb Blakemore

Seb has been lucky enough to have lived in West Cornwall for the past 7 years. After coming down for an extended break he fell in love with this beautiful area and never left!

Based in St Just not far from Primrose Cottage, Seb took on an old wreck and worked to create a comfortable home. This is now also the headquarters for The Cornish Way who look after luxury cottages for a select group of owners and their lucky guests.

Their aim is to provide holidays that fill you with joy - and the bespoke selection of cottages he offers are sure to deliver.

Why Seb Blakemore chose Madron

We are asked to look after many properties, but few tick all of our boxes. The location has to be spectacular, and the home has to feel just right. Laid back, comfortable, with plenty of space, and great stuff all around it.

Primrose delivers everything we look for in a holiday home and more. It has the luxuries that leave you wanting for nothing, but delivered in a laid back style that means your surroundings will be perfect for a week or two unwinding and remembering all the good things in life.

What makes this cottage unique

Seclusion - without being cut off. The biggest town in west Cornwall is only a few miles away.

Privacy - there are a few houses nearby, but you'll only know they're there when you leave.

Space - the house sleeps nine, and offers plenty of space for everyone.

Style - well decorated and with beautiful objects trouvé, and art throughout.

Gardens - these are hardly gardens, more like grounds, with mature trees, ponds, beautiful planting, the remains of former barns and more.

The wild of west Cornwall on your doorstep - the mining heritage, the beaches, St Ives, Newlyn, Mousehole and more.

Display gardens - west Cornwall is known for its lush tropical gardens and if Primrose Cottage's gardens leave you wanting more there are plenty nearby.

Enchanted Cottage

  • 5 of 5

This is a very different cottage compared to others which we have stayed; it plays in our thoughts constantly. The garden is spectacular and welcoming to an array of wildlife - perfect for wasting both mornings and evenings away.

Comfortable Stay

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay in this property. The house was clean and comfortable and had pretty much everything you could need. There are 3 lovely cosy bedrooms upstairs from the lounge which the children loved. As they are away from the other two main bedrooms the children were able to make as much noise as they wanted in the morning without waking us up! The garden is huge and beautiful. Very much a home from home stay.

fabulous holiday, beautiful property

  • 5 of 5

We had a fabulous holiday at wonderful Primrose Cottage. The original Cornish cottage with its thick stone walls has been extended to make a modern and very comfortable home with the best of traditional character mixed with well- lit family spaces. Beautifully decorated, with an artist’s eye clearly at work, two double doors open from the large kitchen into a fantastic extensive garden. Each bedroom has its own character and the spacious sitting room has several different spaces for people to spend time unwinding together or separately. The well-equipped sculpture workshop is in a new wing added at one end of the house, bright and airy, with views out over the wonderful garden and near the kiln. Tucked away down leafy lanes, the house is close to spectacular walks and beaches, the best of unspoilt historic Cornwall.

Beautiful Cornish country house

  • 5 of 5

The house has beautiful art and wonderful energy in every room, on every wall and in every corner. The house really appeals to people of all ages who want a nice, relaxing Cornish break. Short driving distance from spectacular walks and beaches, as well as Penzance being easily accessible for shops and the like. The garden was fascinating, and a great place to relax!
