About Laura Morris-Lloyd
We have been married for 28 years and have 3 children. We are both lecturers in the education system. Having renovated our own home we take a keen interest in old unloved properties and bringing them back to life once more.
Laura Morris-Lloyd purchased this Cottage in 2015
Why Laura Morris-Lloyd chose Cardiff
I fell in love with Chapel House as soon as I saw the original bread oven and the Christmas tree in the garden. David, on the other hand, took a little more persuading. I watched Homes under the Hammer before attending the auction with my daughter and came home that evening as the proud owner of this wonderful property. However, it needed a lot of TLC. Over the following 18 months we replaced the roof, installed a log burner, central heating and complete rewiring to create a luxurious place to stay. We thought long and hard about the best layout for a holiday let and are very proud of the end result.
What makes this Cottage unique
The stunning views of Caerphilly mountain and the surrounding area can be enjoyed from the personal balcony, leading from the main bedroom. There are numerous walks/activities in the area, many of which are detailed on Caerphilly town is just 15 minutes walk or you can catch the bus which will get you there in 5 minutes. The bus stop for Caerphilly is located directly opposite the front door of Chapel House. Caerphilly Castle Like the famous cheese, the castle has long been synonymous with Caerphilly. This 12th century castle, surrounded by a series of moats and watery islands was the brainchild of Gilbert ‘the Red’ de Clare, a redheaded nobleman of Norman descent. He also built the original Castell Coch, ‘Red Castle’, located the other side of Caerphilly mountain. The Black Cock Inn Telephone 02920880534 You can reach the Black Cock Inn by walking up the hill outside the house. Carry on until the brow of the hill and on the right hand side take the road; this leads directly to the Black Cock. This is a easy 5-10 minute walk but you will need a torch in the evening as the country lanes are unlit. There is beer garden and play area. I would recommend booking. Cardiff is only 15minutes away by car, bus or train.

Such a lovely place is Laura’s cottage, an English gem with an outstanding view and a nice balcony on the main bedroom.
Place was very clean and tidy, we loved the fire place and everything was made so easy to use it. Check in was very easy and communication with Laura was great.
My sister, my nephew and my partner John also loved the place and we highly recommended it.
Thank you so much for taking the time to complete a review. We are delighted that you loved Chapel House and look forward to welcoming you again in the future.
Lovely house, well looked after and super clean. We would recommend for anyone wanting to stay in the area.
Fantastic Little Cottage!!!
Wow, from the start of our trip & contact with Laura, this was a weekend that was made by the wonderful cottage, the view from the bedroom & the weather. Laura has a place that is just perfect, the warmth, ambience & views make this THE place to stay when visiting Caerphilly. The cottage has all mod cons & the extra touches put in place are simply delightful. I can honestly say that I felt at home but home with better facilities than my own!! Close enough to town but far enough out for peace & quiet, a pub just up the road, a bus route literally 10 yards away all go to make this location & venue magnificent. Laura, thank you for your warm welcome & calls when we were there, you simply made the weekend for us whilst attending the wedding. Chapel Cottage is just the best.
Beautifully charismatic and cosy
4 of us stayed here for one night whilst visiting Cardiff to see Ed Sheeran, the home was beautifully presented, cosy and clean! There was a lovely welcome pack which added a personal touch to our stay that you wouldn't find in any hotel! The location was quirky, quiet, and only a £12 uber ride away from Cardiff city centre! Communication from the owners was speedy and welcoming, they couldn't have been more helpful if they tried! I would definitely recommend staying here if you are looking for a home away from home!
Lovely little cottage, great location, couldn't ask for better, perhaps a longer stay next time we visit wales.
