Photos and Description of this 3 bedroom holiday cabin in Tower

Looking for a beautiful spot for your lake getaway? This cabin sits on a point overlooking Daisy Bay. With three bedrooms (1 king, 1 full, 1 with 2 twins), and two queen sofa beds (one on a private sleeping porch), it can comfortably sleep up to ten people. The kitchen is fully outfitted. A deck wraps around two sides of the cabin so you can fully appreciate the beautiful view. There's also a lakeside sauna (shared with one other cabin).

You'll want to spend most of your time on the lake, but for those of us who can't quite leave the rest of the world behind, there's cable tv and WiFi. (Please note that the ancient TV pictured has been replaced!)

We have a canoe, a two person kayak, and bikes available for your use.

The driveway can accommodate two boat trailers. Boats can be put in nearby at either Moccasin Point or Greubens Marina.

We do NOT have a fire pit, and do not allow outside fires. There is often a high risk of fire damage, as we are in the woods. We do provide a charcoal grill for outdoor cooking.

There are loads of attractions and activities nearby-- the Vince Shute Bear Sanctuary, the International Wolf Center, Fortune Bay Casino, shopping in Ely, fishing guides, mailboat rides, hiking, tours of the Soudan Mine, and much more.

This cabin is on the same road as our other two rental cabins. The VRBO numbers for those cabins are 809128 and 678588. This cabin is next door to 678588, and one lot away from 809128. If you have a larger group and want to rent more than one cabin, we have special rates.

This cabin is SEASONAL ONLY. It is not available for rent after Sept. 30 or before May 1.

About Sarah Fain

This cabin was purchased by my great-uncle and was left to my grandparents, who then left it to my mom. She added the second story so our many family and friends could visit comfortably. We are excited to celebrate 60 years of fun on Lake Vermilion in 2016!

Why Sarah Fain chose Minnesota

We love this cabin because its location is so special. Because it's on a point, the view is expansive-- my favorite view in the whole world.

Nice cozy cabin

  • 4 of 5

The cabin was very nice, clean, and comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The location was fantastic. One thing that would have made it better would be a fire pit. Overall it was great!

Awesome, Wonderful Lakehouse Cabin!!

  • 5 of 5

I loved staying at this cabin! I got there late into the night due to my flight being late and the caretakers had the frontporch light on awaiting me. The directions were very simple and I got gps service all the way from Duluth airport to the cabin. I got great internet service inside the cabin which made me extremely happy. The weather was beautiful! I awoke to the waves sounding on the rocks and the sunshine and it was so dang peaceful! I made my coffee in the coffee maker and stood on the deck and soaked in my surroundings. In the kitchen is every type of baking dish one would need to cook, everything is obtainable. The décor is reminiscent of the 70's which I thoroughly loved. It took me back to a simpler, safer time in life. The warmth inside of yesteryear is something you don't get nowawadays. I liked to plant myself in this plaid chair with matching ottoman and found I made it my home every time I came in the house...even telling myself "how can I ship it back" which I would then come to reality to realize that its not coming with me! The surrounding landscape is just beautiful. Distant wrrrr of boats passing through the waters, I could find myself living here. But, that's not going to happen. The beds were comfortable. Water in the shower needed to be on about 5 minutes before it got warm, I found this out the hard way but it woke me up quickly like a couple of coffees would. I stayed alone, I am a woman and found it extremely safe. I have no bad things to say about this cabin at all. Only good, positive things! And memories!! I'm very grateful for the experience. I needed it.

We love this place

  • 5 of 5

We love this cabin! It easily accommodates a crowd and sleeps many comfortably. It was very clean, the bedroom linens and bathroom towels are provided and the kitchen is very well stocked. There was plenty of hot water for our whole crew to shower.

A wonderful deck wraps around the cabin to enjoy lake views and sunsets and we took advantage of the charcoal grill for meals, too.

We met the caretakers during our visit; they are very personable and welcoming and gracious "hosts" who want to ensure that you enjoy your stay.

The wifi was upgraded during our visit and it's SUPER fast now; there's also a phone and flat screen TV with a zillion channels if you desire. We enjoyed the two-person kayak, mini golfed at Pier 77 and enjoyed long walks from the cabin.

We enjoyed our stay and will be back for another family getaway next year!

First time renting

  • 5 of 5

We had a nice time renting the cabin. There were five adults and four kids (ranging from 11-17). I was surprised that with nine people, having only one bathroom worked out rather well. We had a couple air mattresses so sleeping was not a problem. The locals described the fishing as the worst week they had in years, for us it was hit and miss but still had a good time on the water. The caretakers met us on the first day as we moved in and were very pleasant and easy to get along with.

Renting the place was simple and hassle free, I was surprised since this was the first attempt I had doing such a thing. I would not hesitate to use VRBO or go with Sarah (owner) again. The location for the lake is great with a pier big enough for three boats (one even had a lift). The area is outstanding, we made frequent trips to town for various reasons and found a great bar and café in Tower. Good Old Times bar and grill was one of our favorites. We saw deer, turtles, fox, and plenty of other animals on each trip we made, which was a lot of fun for the kids. Made a trip to the Wolf museum and the Mine Tour, which were both very worthwhile.

We had a small problem with the deck on the first day but it was quickly fixed after calling the caretakers. Cell coverage was a bit of a problem but all of us had US Cellular and coverage was sporadic. Like the fishing, the weather had a part in this and there was little that the owner could have done for either. Wi-Fi worked pretty well, especially considering all the use it was getting from the people staying.

Overall, a very nice cabin, in a great location, on a nice (huge) lake, outstanding owner and caretakers, great towns and attractions nearby made it a fun vacation.
