My wife and I have lived in Ft Myers, FL going on 15 years. I am a local Realtor, and she is an accountant. We enjoy the sunny warm weather and beautiful beaches the area has to offer. With easy access from Ft Myers, North Captiva is the perfect place for us to get away from the hustle & bustle of every day life and soak up the peace and natural beauty of North Captiva

We had so much fun!!! We loved it
We wanted to go somewhere with our family where we could relax, fish, and spend time not worrying about anything, and this was the perfect place. North Captiva Island was amazing. The house owner was very easy to work with, and helped us with all of our needs. The house is a nice beach house with a pool, which it was the perfect for us because all the kids wanted to do was swim before and after the beach. The house had a lot of clean towels, sheets, pillows and more. We had some issues with the air conditioning and golf cart, but the owner responded and fixed them. For those people that love coconuts like us, this is a great place because they are everywhere so the kids opened many coconuts during our stay. If you are looking to relax and some wiled life experience, this is the place to be. Blue Heaven house was truly a great house. We would love to come back again.
This house was adorable and suited our family's needs perfectly!
I brought my family of 7 to north captiva island for my sons 13th birthday. One of our best family vacations yet!!! Such a quaint and charming island with only the amenities one truly needs. Chad was a wonderful host and very easy to work with. This island was so peaceful and exactly what we all needed. Dolphins on every beach, manatees as well, eagle rays and more, the nature and scenery were amazing. Can't wait to go back!!
Beautiful Island Paradise
We had a wonderful family vacation in Blue Heaven! Chad was so great to work with in getting us set up for a fun and relaxing vacation. We took advantage of the beach which was only a short walk away, swimming in the warm pool at night and golf cart rides for ice cream at Barnacles each day. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils and lots of extra spices, etc. which was helpful when cooking meals. Plenty of towels and a nice screened porch where we ate all meals outside. We would rate it 5 stars if the mattress in the main bedroom was comfortable. It needs replacing but it didn't ruin our vacation by any means! We also enjoyed the wildlife. We saw lots of birds, manatee, tortoises, lizards and even had a dolphin swim up by shore and flap his tail at us! Thanks for sharing your house with us!
My wife and I were looking for a little alone time for just the two of us and the Blue Heaven was perfect! If you looking for something fancy and upscale then the Blue Heaven might not be the place, but if you are looking for a clean, quiet, relaxing time that will not break the bank the Blue Heaven is a good choice. The pool is small but great, and house is close to the beach and everything else on the island. The only disappointment was that the matteresses were not very comfortable.
Wonderful Family Christmas Vacation on Upper Capti
Our family loved Upper Captiva Island and had a pleasant time staying at Blue Heaven. The house is an older, but comfortable place. Some things were a bit worn down, or rusted by the salt air, but that's to be expected in an island environment, and our family was fine with that. Our kids really enjoyed the small swimming pool when they tired of swimming at the beach.
Our group included my family and my brother's family. The space worked well for us to use the upstairs kitchen for all our meals, but then we each had our own sleeping space and bathrooms on the 2 different floors.
The location is ideal and quiet. There are only 2 other houses on any of the adjacent lots but they were very quiet. It was very quiet in the evenings. Everything was close enough to walk to by foot, and the available golf cart worked well whenever we wanted to ride somewhere.
Our onsite hostess, Pam was wonderful. She met us at the ferry, oriented us to the house and to the island, and we saw her around the island several times during our stay. In fact we went Christmas Caroling together with her and other locals and vacationers.
We hope that it is not long until our family is back to Upper Captiva.
Most relaxing vacation we've ever taken.
North Captiva is one of the most special places I've ever visited. It is for people who want ultimate relaxation and be forced to do almost nothing but enjoy the outdoors. You will find many $1,000,000+ homes on the island with state of the art facilities, reverse osmosis water filtration, and more than your luxuries of home. Blues Heaven is not one of them. It is a beach house, and a quite good and functional one. It is two stories with full kitchens, living rooms and bathrooms on both levels, so very good for two couples or small families who want their own space. There is one bedroom on the first floor and a pull out sofa. There are two bedrooms on the second floor, but they are connected, so a couple with a child would be comfortable, but two couples would be awkward. There is also a pull out sofa in the living room of the second floor. There is a dishwasher in the first floor kitchen. Washer and dryer are on the outside. The pool is lovely! We are used to renting houses, so we know that they come with about a 1 day supply of the essentials like toilet paper, paper towels, dish soap, etc. We always bring things like hand soap because houses never seem to have it. Normally when you rent a house you can check in, see what there is and then make a trip to the store, but not so on N. Captiva, so plan ahead! Bring food! There are a couple of restaurants, good for a break from cooking, but you don't want that to be your main source of food, it gets really expensive! Tap water is well water, it is drinkable, but not tasty, so we brought ours. There is one little store that will charge you 10x as much as normal, so if you forgot something, you can find it, but I wouldn't rely on that for your main purchases. The house has good wi-fi, but other than that, communication to and from the island is difficult. We had no cell service (just the way we wanted it!) but text messages went through eventually. Communication with Chad was at times difficult; I'm going to chalk that up to the communication problems on the island. Sometimes it took a few emails to get a response. But everything went smoothly once we got there. We were met at Barnacle's by Pam with the golf cart that comes with the rental and she showed us to the house and gave us the ins and outs and then on check out day, she met us back at the docks to bring the golf cart back. Yes the house needs repairs, but it did not detract from our overall experience. And our dog, Maggie, had a blast!
