This is the perfect place for one who loves good food, history, art, and just having fun. The apartment is located in the 3rd arrondissement or Upper or ‘Haut’ Marais. Even as far back as 2012, Travel and Leisure magazine called it “Paris’s Next Great Neighborhood: The Haut-Marais”.
You will be greeted at the apartment upon arrival by our American representative, who will give you a tour of the apartment, explain how things work, point out items of interest in the neighborhood, answer your questions and lastly give you the keys to your apartment.
We are located on rue Bretagne, just up the street from all the hustle and bustle where you will find some of the best, fresh Parisian products, multiple Cheese shops, Bakeries, Wine shops, restaurants, supermarkets, florists, butchers, and several delis of different varieties. On the weekends it is filled with people from all parts of Paris, locals and tourists alike.
THE LOCATION AND NEIGHBORHOOD
According to the Wall Street Journal our neighborhood is “Home to some of the French capital’s oldest mansions and newest boutiques, Paris’s Haut Marais district has a soaring public profile…”.
Chez Yann is just steps away from the Marché des Enfants Rouges (the oldest covered market in Paris, dating back to 1612), the Centre Pompidou, the Picasso Museum (yes, it is finally open again!), galleries, restaurants and shops. We have some of the best chocolate shops in Paris: Jacques Genin and Jean Paul Hévin, just to name a couple.
Square du Temple is just across the street from Chez Yann. This gem of a park in the middle of a busy neighborhood includes a pond, gazebo, trees, Ping-Pong tables, and a playground for the little ones. It is also a great place for a picnic.
It’s an easy stroll to the Picasso Museum, Notre Dame, the Place des Vosges, the Musée Carnavalet, the Museum of Jewish Art and HIstory, Arts et Métiers, Ile St. Louis, Canal Saint Martin, Place de la République, the Centre Pompidou, and many more. The area is France’s largest historical district and home to a 700 year old Jewish quarter. The 17th century architecture is a magnificent backdrop to all that the neighborhood has to offer.
As with most places in Paris we are conveniently located to the 'Velib' system of shared bikes.

Chez Yann is a SPACIOUS 1-bedroom apartment (440 square feet or 41 square meters) with traditional high-beamed ceilings and tomette tiles on the floor.
The apartment has WIFI, unlimited calling to more than 100 countries, and flat-screen TV.
The kitchen is fully equipped with a dishwasher, multi-function oven, electric cooktop, microwave, refrigerator with freezer, Nespresso machine and all of the cooking equipment you’ll need. There’s also a combination washer/dryer.
The apartment has double-glazed windows facing West and North. This not only makes it a bright apartment but also provides good views of the neighborhood. During the warm part of the year they provide a great breeze. If it really gets warm we also have air conditioning. In the cooler period our heating is provided by individual electric radiators.
The living and dining area has an open or American kitchen. The comfortable sleeper-sofa provides space for two additional guests if needed. The dining table is large and sturdy with four chairs.
The bedroom provides a queen-sized bed with reading lights, a built-in closet with lots of space, as well as a large book case. There are books and magazines for you to explore in addition to the large flat-screen TV.
The bathroom has a stall shower with plenty of hot water. You will also find a hairdryer at your convenience.
A comprehensive apartment guide includes operating instructions for all the apartment’s appliances as well as local information and emergency numbers.

We will give you a brief introduction to your new neighborhood so you can find all the important things, and can also give recommendations for our favorite bistros, brasseries, cafes, and restaurants, and help make reservations as appropriate. Authentic Parisian Experience in a Comfortable Convenient Location
We had a great stay at Chez Yann. Upon arrival, we were met by a colleague of David’s at Café Manfred across the street from the apartment and were escorted to the building. Sid took the time to show us how to access the building and apartment, how to operate the lights and the elevator. The elevator, though small, allowed my husband to take our two suitcases upstairs rather than climb the staircase with them. Once in the apartment, we were oriented to where things were. The apartment was clean and well equipped, just as described. A welcoming bottle of champagne, fruit, biscuits and coffee were a nice touch. The apartment is well equipped with everything you would need. It is an easy walk to several markets (monoprix), cheese shops and bakeries. We were able to get fresh baguettes, cheese, and pastries daily. I became addicted to the espresso from the Nespresso machine that was so tasty with my morning croissant! The metro is also a quick walk and the Notre Dame, the Seine, and several museums are nearby The neighborhood has many cafes and restaurants and is very active in the evening. Of the many amenities, we especially appreciated the air conditioning, which was one of my main criteria for lodging, as many places in Paris do not have A/C. It was hot during our stay and we appreciated being able to cool down after a day of walking the streets and touring museums. We also like the view, as the apartment has 3 large windows allowing for viewing of the goings on in the neighborhood. I would say that because of the location – a busy neighborhood – it is too noisy to have the windows open, but this wasn’t a big problem for us. When closed it is quiet inside, and I am very noise sensitive. There is a handy folder that contains useful information for travelers, and my only suggestion would be to include instructions about how to operate the washer/dryer. Although this was explained to us, we were really tired when we arrived and didn’t truly absorb the info. I’d also say that the couch is pretty uncomfortable for sitting, but this is fairly minor given all of the pluses this apartment contains. We greatly appreciated the ease in booking and communication before and during our stay. We requested a bit of extra time in check out and that was graciously accommodated. What we loved about our 9 nights: David could not have been a more welcoming host. He's organized, helpful and quick to respond. The apartment is in a great location with very easy access to the metro, a market, many stores. If you want to experience Paris more like a Parisienne, and less like a tourist, this is a great spot . The apt has a large living, dining, kitchen space with lots of windows. Bed is comfortable. What we didn't love: this is on a small but busy intersection with a popular cafe across the street. If you're noise sensitive, it could be an issue.
I have stayed in several of the properties managed by DS and he has never steered me wrong on the type of accommodations that will best suit me. My favorite aspect of this flat was the openness of the kitchen/living room. The large windows throughout make even the cloudiest days in Paris seem full of light. The park just across the way and variety of cafes led me to stay close to "home." There was so much to do just within my neighborhood-but when I did venture out, Notre Dame/Hotel De Ville was a mere 10 minute walk. I highly recommend this flat and would definitely stay here again!
The apartment is small but comfortable for 2 people. It is a good location, convenient to shops, restaurants and metro. It is a corner unit with lots of light. There are 2 cafes across the street and it gets noisy at night on week-ends. Closing the windows and turning on bedroom fan eased the problem.. The apt is clean and well appointed. David was very pleasant and helpful. We would enjoy staying at David's apt again on another visit.
Our host was terrific at explaining everything and respsive to any future questionss. The guest book was helpful in making recommendations.. This was a good location for the Marais area . The place eas well equipped. and the welcome package of food was appreciated..
We loved staying at Chez Yann and plan to return as soon as possible. The area has diverse people, shops, restaurants and convenient to all transportation. The apartment itself is very comfortable, attractive and secure. David is an excellent host and a fount if information. His recommendation of Pramil restaurant turned out to be a highlight of our visit. Strongly recommend!
