We had a great time in lovely chalet in great location
It was my and my wife’s first return to the slopes in 11 years following having children. For our three young girls (aged 9, 7 and 6) it was their first time skiing. We had a great time! The chalet was perfect for us. Double bedroom for adults and plenty of room for the girls in the other bedroom (one double bunk, one single bunk). The living area is upstairs and open plan and was perfect. Great kitchen and dining area with fully equipped kitchen. The lounge area was lovely with a very efficient fire for cosy evenings with free logs to boot. NB - you don’t need to use the fire as there are plenty of easy-to-use and efficient radiators throughout the chalet. Balcony was great too - being south-west facing and with views down to Plagne Centre - we had great views of the night skiing and fireworks on our last night. Not quite ski in/out for us (not good enough!) but only a short walk to the easy to ski slope up the road and an easy walk back from a gentle blue run once your legs are getting tired later in the day to the same spot for a short walk down to chalet. Overall, we loved our stay and would highly recommend not just the chalet but also the resort where we found everyone to be very friendly. I was a bit nervous about how it would pan out given how long we’d not skied for and whether the kids would enjoy it. Turned out as their best holiday ever and it was great to see how quickly they took to skiing (nb: with lessons!). Finally, Sandra, the owner, was also really helpful and quick to respond to any questions.
Many thanks Tim for your kindness. We hope to welcome you soon in LA PLAGNE :)
Not as advertised
Unfortunately this property does not meet with the description. It is most definitely NOT ski-in and only ski out if you are a very very able skier. Although only a short distance to the piste, the ski out involves an extremely steep slope covered in trees and hidden tree trunks. This was even a precarious walk on a very narrow 'path' on the edge of a very steep drop. Ski in is absolutely not possible even after a heavy snowfall. The chalet is accessed via a road which albeit meets the piste but involves a treacherous walk of around 100m on sheet ice. As described it is small. It is functional although very cramped even for a family of 2 adults and 2 children under 8. The en suite bathroom has no door (including the toilet) and is fully open to the bedroom. One is able to have full view of anyone using the toilet whilst lying in bed. The second bedroom is extremely cramped incorporating a double bunk bed and a single bunk bed with a narrow corridor of floor in between. The living area is slightly better laid out but there is not enough cutlery/crockery or glasses for a party of 8 and no oven gloves. Communication was generally swift although the useful information was only sent out on the evening prior to arrival. This included details of ski schools/rental, local and not so local but more useful supermarkets in Aime. In addition despite stating that we would arrive at 5pm the key code was not emailed to us until 5:15. After a long journey this was not a pleasant 15minutes unknowing when or if it would arrive. Finally in addition to the chalet being cramped inside, it is also very close to many neighbours to the point one can hear people talking from the inside of one chalet to another. Overall a very disappointing stay in a chalet which definitely does not meet with the description or expectations.
Our chalet has been loved and returned to year on year by many of our guests. The chalet is totally independant from the neighbours. It was entirely renovated in 2006 with high quality insulation.
Sarah’s review below is voluntarily detri-mental and quite detatched from the reality of comfort and amenities provided by the chalet.
Sarah has left us a scathing review following a mis-communication at the start of her holiday concerning the inclusion, or not of certain aspects in the price quoted. Following an aggressive message from Sarah, I quickly apologised and compen-sated by offering her the add-ons for free. A gesture which I felt demonstrated good-will and responsability for the mis-communication and more importantly demonstrated my desire to help make her holiday great. I might add, that Sarah had already received a really good last minute deal.
She left the chalet one month ago and now she is asking for a refund of her stay. I begin to understand her plan, it is a shame.
To reply to the arguments, the chalet measures 70m2 and its been designed with week-long skiers in mind. We’ve tried to design it intelligently so guest have the best possible holiday. The second bedroom is dormatory-style, and is reminiscent of high-mountain refuges, a look and feel that our guests love.
The chalet is accessible on skis after leaving the piste for a short distance. One arrives in front of the chalet on skis.
To leave the chalet, as detailed in our advert, you need to do 3 turns off-piste to join the piste below, and yes, one must know how to ski in order to do these 3 turns out of the chalet.
The main bedroom is more suited to couples, as there is no curtain between the bedroom and bathroom area. However guests can shower in total privacy and the toilet is in a little corner, not in full view of the bed as described by Sarah.
There is another, fully closed bathroom for guests requiring total privacy.
We were at the chalet to welcome Sarah at 5pm. She didn’t arrive and didn’t call to let us know what time she would ar-rive. We waited untl 5.15pm but had to leave as we had a meeting. I therefore sent her a text message with the door code so she could arrive in her own time.
Finally, Sarah has neglected to mention the spectacular view from our chalet and the privacy it allows. She hasn’t mentionned the beauty of being able to light a fire in a moderne, cosy interior chalet, the high standards of the equipments.Reviews like this are dissappointing to say the least.
Excellent Chalet - well equipped and nice location
Excellent chalet that is well equipped and in a great location (ski in/out as long as you have some ability).
Fantastic chalet, so well equipped and a lovely view. The most comfortable halet I have ever stayed
clean, smart and very well equipped
Beautiful view for the balcony.
the owner has thought of every thing to make the stay comfortable
Thank you so much Ann and Steve for your kind review, we do our best to satisfy our guests.
It was a pleasure to welcome you :)
Hope to see you soon in LA PLAGNE
Ace chalet in a great location with lovely outlook
Sandra, the owner was always quick to respond to email/text to help with booking.
We really liked the chalet's position, views, decor, comfortable beds, TV, music system, other facilities, wood stove with logs provided, warmth, ability to ski in/ski out, easy parking, ski room, and proximity to bars and restaurants.
A real plus was discovering we could ski or walk back easily from Le Casa de L'Ours in Plagne Villages, at the end of the day.
Overall, a really good place to stay for a group of 4 adults, and it would be good for a family with several children.
Fantastic chalet in a perfect location
Although we visited at the begining of the season the chalet more than made up for the lack of snow. You are welcomed on your arrival and any questions we had were quickly answered by the owner via e mail. The chalet is furnished to a very high standard with amazing views over La Plagne Centre. With decent snow you would easily be able to ski direct to the door. We would not hesitate to recommend this chalet and would love to visit again in the future.
