The cabin was amazing! Great location, clean and very welcoming.

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was clean and staged for our arrival. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect setting. The cabin had everything we needed; the only thing we had to bring was our clothes and food. The washer and dryer were very helpful since it was raining during our stay. They even had a BBQ grill to grill out on. There is a canoe to use and a bonfire pit that is in a beautiful spot near the water. The drive to the AuTrain beach is only about 3min. This is a perfect location if you want to explore the shore front and pictured rock national lake shore. We are looking forward to coming back again and making this location our getaway spot. Thank you Matt and Holly for sharing your peaceful getaway.

Peaceful Awsome Cabin

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the cabin from Friday 9/22/2017 until Monday morning 9/25 2017 . The cabin had everything . The only thing we needed to bring besides our personal things was groceries. Very peaceful nights by the bonfire , beautiful view , very well-kept. We had no issues whatsoever staying here. We found that and the attractions or anything else we needed was within 20 minutes of us. I would definitely stay here again and would like to thank the owners/managers for allowing us to stay there. Sincerely, Ken and Marilyn

Excellent Stay In A Beautiful Area

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed here for three nights and really enjoyed our time at the cabin. Owners are easy to work with and answered any questions we had as well as provide helpful information concerning the area. Cabin is well equipped with all that we needed and is a lovely setting on the river. Beds are comfortable and clean. Kitchen is complete plus outdoor gas grill was put to good use. We recommend this cabin and are considering a return visit. Town has small grocery that also sells gasoline.

Beautiful cabin with awesome view

  • 5 of 5

My girlfriend and I spent three nights at the Reel Inn cabin and thought it was set in a lovely location. A beautiful view on the river, very quiet. A great place to get away from it all.

The cabin was very clean and cozily decorated. It was obvious to us that Holly and Matt had the comfort of their guests, young and old, in mind when they decorated and stocked this cabin. Our only regret was that we didn't have enough time to enjoy the fire pit and bikes, canoes.

Thank you, Holly and Matt!

Clean, lots of room and amenities, honest review.

  • 4 of 5

Pros:

- lots of room and comfortable kitchen

- lots of amenities: lots of towels, dish towels, coffee machine, slow cooker, utencils, pots/pans, glasses, cups, WASHER & DRYER (HUGE PLUS!), DVDs, DVD players, etc, everything you need.

- nice comfy beds and bed spreads

- super cute decorated

- WIFI!!!! Which is HUGE since there is barely no service in the area

Cons:

- not too much seating space by the fire and in the porch. The picture shows a cute wood bar table in front but that is not in the cabin anymore. I had to seat in a broken plastic chair which my Mom, who is almost 70 almost falls from and my mom had to seat in another chair which was made of cloth and pretty dirty. The other seating was a bench which wasn't the most comfortable to relax by the fire since it didn't have any backing.

- this property is not at the lake but at a river/bank which was supposedly dredged to increase property value in the area. The river is not as nice as the lake and there are a TONS of mosquitoes. So bring lots of repellent.

Overall, I would definitely rent again. The cabin was super well stocked and super comfortable for our family of 6.

It was a fun time and the area is BEAUTIFUL. Picture rocks is breathtaking. Be prepared to pay more money for everything than what you expect. I am really surprised of how expensive everything in this area is. I imagine is a summer thing since tourists flood the area, but it is still shocking when you pay more for a place to stay and for food/restaurants in Au Train, MI than in Traverse City or anywhere else in MI.

Also, make sure the owners give you the passcode to the lock before you arrive. They forgot to give it to us the passcode and since we didn't have any service it was tricky to figure that out. At the end, we were able to get signal and they answered the second time we called.

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for your honest review. We had an unfortunate mishap with the table and bar stools a few weeks ago and being that it was a custom made set... we had to order an entire new set which was installed recently. We also had more wood seating added around the fire pit so now the temporary chairs have been removed. We do supply a large number of camp chairs in the shed for our guests to use as well however I see it should be on our welcome letter so they know they are there. I am sorry you did not enjoy our beautiful piece of river in front of the cabin, it is usually the highlight for most of our guests, however if you were thinking you were staying on Lake Superior then I can see why you were disappointed. I will look over our description to make sure we do not mislead our guests into believing they are renting lake front property. Sadly as we do own property on Lake Superior also, the mosquitoes there too are a plenty. We do spray a natural garlic spray that decreases the amount of mosquitoes significantly however we have had a way above average rain fall this year and you know what that means... a way above average amount of mosquitoes. As far as the door code, after we receive your final payment we send out 2 messages, one is driving directions, the other lists check in/check out times, the door code and a little information about the cabin and where to find things. I'm sorry you didn't see this in your message, I will make sure it's the first thing in the message so it's not overlooked in the future. We take every criticism as an opportunity to make others stay here more comfortable and apologize for any inconvenience it may have caused you.
