A charming furnished apartment in the heart of the medieval 'casbah' overlooking the Mediterranean Sea and the Nettuno marina.
The apartment has a large living area and kitchen, a small bathroom with shower, a bedroom and a balcony. Ideal for a couple.
In case of emergency, the couch in the living room can open up into a double bed - however we don't like having more than 2 (or maximum 3) guests.
Central heat, full kitchen with gas stove, small washing machine.
The apartment usually has access to a strong free WiFi signal.
There is no TV.
A recent reference:
“This was a second year we were renting this apartment for a month +. As it was last year there is everything for living (as described in listing) and more. Location is unbeatable for someone who likes urban life in combination with natural beauty of the sea and who likes history which surrounds the medieval Borgo where the apartment is located . Views from windows and balcony are stunning.”
My family has owned the Nettuno apartment for many years. It’s one of our favorite spots in the world! I was brought up in Rome. I met my wife, Sole, in Nettuno and after marrying, we spent our first year together there. We are now in our 60’s and are semi-retired. I work for a “affordable housing” project. Sole has a classical music radio program. She also works at a woman’s shelter. We both volunteer at several non-governmental humanitarian organizations.
We would appreciate it if you would tell us something about yourselves and your interest in visiting Italy. We always feel a lot more comfortable knowing a little bit about whom we are talking to. Thanks.
This apartment is very unique. On one side is the Mediterranean, on the other the Piazza of the main church. So you get the horizon beyond Ponza Island as well as all the traditional festivities and marriages, communions, funerals, etc.
The neighborhood, especially in the summer, is also home to a lot of exciting nightlife.
The apartment has everything you could need: linens a full kitchen etc. In the apartment you will find a A Welcome Letter that contains a lot of good information. It is also available at
We had a fantastic holiday in Nettuno. I think your info pack doesn't do the place justice!! The view from the apartment is spectacular. Every night we walked round the harbour looking at the lovely yachts. We were quite sad to leave the view and pace of life. The beaches are lovely, the Italians very friendly - I met an Italian lady on the beach who is coming to Britain in September on a course, so she is going to get in touch and hopefully come and see us.
There is an excellent selection of shops and eating places. We found it very child friendly and our kids loved the place - they didn't want to come home. Being only 1 hour on the train from Rome was good and we spent 3 days in Rome doing the sites.
Please thank Teresa again for getting us at the airport, this was a great help. We didn't see her before we left unfortunately, but I hope she got the money and the gifts from Scotland that we left her.
Thank you again for your hospitality and we would definitely like to return again in the future - in fact while we were there we had a look at some Real Estate windows to see how much it would be to buy an apartment in Nettuno!!! - we liked it that much.
Basic accommodation in a very old building. Ideal for those who do not want five star service.
Entrance restricted and very steep stone stairs, but for us added to the experience.
Bedroom and shower room very clean, but some areas of cleanliness could have been improved, such as the interior of the oven or the shelves around the CD player.
The views from the windows and balcony were superb. We watched many weddings taking place in our Piazza from the kitchen window. The balcony has views up and down the coast, over the Marina and the beaches. Superb.
The old medieval area, the Borgo, where the apartment is, has very narrow cobbled streets, dark at night, but the area felt safe, full of young people, yet no noise could be heard within the security of the building.
We used the inexpensive train service and went into Roma and Anzio frequently. The property is ten minutes from the station.
The town has all the type of shops we needed with a great variety. We enjoyed going out for breakfast in local cafes and for aperitif in the evenings. Some bars and cafes specialise in aperacena which is worth having, a vast amount of savouries and nibbles. Prices are a lot less than in the uk for coffee and pastries.
A months stay went very quickly despite the lack of tv and CDs to our taste.
My three week stay in Jo's apartment in Nettuno was the highlight of my three month stay in Italy. The apartment is full of light and even on the hottest days a nice breeze can be felt due to it's ideal location above the harbor. It is a short walk to anything in Nettuno; the beach, gelato, groceries and the best pizza. While The Borgho is a known hot spot for the young, late-night crowd, I found that the apartment was surprising well insulated from the noise, with the windows closed I was not bothered by a thing. The decor is a mixture of eclectic prints and original works of art and with the background of bright white paint, high ceilings and grand views of the harbor, it is the perfect beach retreat. There were plenty of linens and I felt at home in the small but well equipped kitchen, perfect for an intimate dinner with a few friends. A five star rating from me, I look forward to returning as soon as I can!
Additional Personal Recommendations:
I personally recommend Colasanti's bakery just across the main street for fresh baked goods and if you would like the best gelato, take a walk towards the church at the end of the harbor and visit Serendipity. The best pizza I found is a stones' throw away from the apartment in the Borgho at Old Rock Tavern. The grocery stores near the apartment are very expensive so if you have access to a car or if you are staying for a while it is better to stock up at EuroSpin, they have the best prices in the area, all of the locals shop there (although they do not sell Nutella). For any young(er) people the current hot spot is XL Bar in the Borgho. The Kebab shop (McWael's) around the corner from San Giovanni Piazza is owned by a man (Wael) that speaks English very well. He always knows other English speaking people around, in case anyone has a problem with the 98% Italian speaking population of Nettuno. Mary, the apartment manager, is also very helpful in answering questions and she also enjoys the opportunity to speak English with others as much as possible.
Thanks again Jo!
Feel free to use all or none of this in your advertising - unless the people interested want the apartment the same week that I want to return! :0)
The neighborhood around the apartment is like a medieval casbah. It's relaxing and beautiful night and day . . . Nettuno is famous for its white wines and plentiful fresh vegetables and seafood. There are several produce markets, upscale delis, and a variety of great restaurants, trattorias, pizzerias, and ice-cream parlors - all within a short walking distance.
Nettuno is 60 kilometers south of Rome (just south of the picturesque fishing town of Anzio).
The coast between Anzio and Nettuno is known for being the WWII beach-head for the liberation of Rome. Day trips from Nettuno will certainly include Rome - but might also include visits to the castles of Sermoneta, the wine towns of Frascati, Marino and Velletri, the neolithic walls and gardens of Ninfa, San Felice Circeo, with its National Park, and boat trips to the islands of Ponza and Palmarola - just to name a few.
