Treehouse? Yes, Treehouse. To be clear: It's not a house in a tree but a tree in a house. The brand new studio was built on solid ground but surrounding a living tree. Illuminated at night the tree creates magic in the room: romantic, intimate, meditative, beautiful. There is all the comfort you need: Queen size bed for 2 w memory foam mattress. Kitchen w fridge, micro, coffee maker, free coffee/tea, toaster, cookware, etc. A LED smart TV with cable, Netflix, YouTube, etc. Extensive movie library for your BlueRay. Free high speed internet. You'll enjoy the California sun on a deck worthy of a resort: Fountain, out door furniture, BBQ grill. Enjoy your fried Calamari with our welcome treat: A bottle of California wine. Of course, we'll help you find all the points of your interest in Hollywood, LA, California. We're looking forward to welcoming you in English, German, French, Finnish or with Google translator....
We care about the security and wellbeing of children: Due to the stairs and patios we do not rent to children under 12 years old.
We are: Elmar (has a lot to do with movies and TV - that's why there is such an amount of movie DVDs for your viewing pleasure) and Carmen (who is a language teacher and actually likes people). We enjoy traveling (that's where we experienced short term rentals and learned what it is that travelers like you expect and need), music, the arts, hanging out with nice people wether we have known them for years or we just met them as our short term guests.
Elmar purchased this bungalow in 2014
Because it makes your stay in LA very special. And that's not a sales pitch, it is actually the case. Where else do you enter a 'pencil gate' (see photos) on top of the Hollywood Hills, walk through a huge patio and enter a guesthouse with a living tree inside. We have another rental property in our main house and we only got absolut top reviews (all 5 stars). We expect nothing less with our 'Tree House'.The property is fenced in. Secured by key boxes with codes. There is street parking in a cul-de-sac located in a strictly residential area on top of the hill.
All our guests so far agreed: "The ideal place to recharge your batteries for business and travels". Accompanied by the soothing murmur of an antique fountain you enjoy the California sun on garden sofa, seats or lounge on your patio. Barbecue and have a romantic candle light dinner under the stars. And relax on a memory foam Queen bed under the ultimate mood light: A glowing living tree. Watch great current or classic movies on BluRay from our video library. And the most amazing: All this tranquility and comfort in the center of bustling, hectic Hollywood with short distances to studios, offices, sights, restaurants, clubs, parks for nature walks, jogging, biking or horseback riding,
I don't think you will find more gracious and pleasant hosts! They went above and beyond to help from lending me toothpaste to going out of their way to ensure I could comfortably work, beautiful setting for those wanting a relaxing setting, whether for work or pleasure. Truly lovely, Carmen and Elmer are wonderful.
The tree house was a great and quiet getaway just minutes from the hustle and bustle of LA. I had access to everything I needed and felt right at home. Elmar was a gracious host!
We have used home away many times and have never had an experience like this. We booked this flat for a much needed getaway and upon arrival we noticed the place was just plain filthy. There were occupied spider webs around the entire perimeter of the ceiling and throughout the place (keep in mind black widow spiders are a serious danger if not kept out of dwellings), food crumbs on the floor, an open bag of potato chips on the kitchen counter and a used bar of bar soap in the bathroom. Hair on the toilet and bathroom floor...gross!!!!! The toilet was plugged, had to be plunged for 15 minutes and even after it did flush, the smell of sewer gas permeated from the shower drain. We would expect better from a 2 star hotel let alone a place in the Hollywood hills. We simply felt we couldn't stay there, Thus we ended up in hotels and used funds set aside for sightseeing on top of what we gave them. Buyer beware!
I loved my week at the Treehouse. I found it to be exactly as described and perfect for a solo traveler exploring the city. Only a half mile from the Metro station and combined with Uber, I never felt the need for a car. If I head towards LA again, I'd be thrilled to stay here again.
I spent two weeks in Elmar and Carmen's "treehouse," and it was a lovely stay that almost changed my mind about LA all by itself! I was performing at the Pantages and loved the fact it was an easy 10-15 minute walk from work. And boom, suddenly you're in this quiet neighborhood which seems miles from more chaotic H'wood. I spent so much time on the deck relaxing, dining, sunning a bit. The memory foam bed was super-comfy and I slept like a baby. Yes, the cottage is small, the kitchen sink is tiny, the bathroom is petit as well, but none of that ever really bothered me. I was able to cook very decent meals in the kitchen area, and again, eating out on the deck was the best part! There never was a problem with parking right by the house, and Elmar and Carmen were lovely hosts, all around. Easy to contact, friendly and warm, and genuinely interested in their guests. (NB, if you do want to walk, the hill gets VERY steep, so that may be an issue for some, but I actually enjoyed the workout on my commute!) I never had really cared for LA before this trip, but I finally got to see more of its charm, and the treehouse was a major part of that.
I spent 3 nights at the Tree House & it was exactly the change of pace I wanted from a boring hotel stay! Very quiet, cozy studio & a short drive to everything including Hollywood, Griffith Park & Observatory, Downtown LA. I even took a 2 hour hike around the neighborhood for some great views of the sign & LA skyline. Thanks Elmar, I hope to come back & recommend your place to anyone for a pleasantly different get away in the Hills.
