Description

Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday chateau / country house in Petralia Sottana

Two old stone cottages, in the heart of Sicily, among mountains, sea and art.

In the heart of a wood of oaks and chestnut trees, among apple and olive trees, the two old cottages of “La Gisamìa” are only 8 minutes car away from the centre of Petralia Sottana, the medieval village, head office of the 'Parco delle Madonie', which with its cathedral, its stonehouses and its paving ways, offers a still authentic example of old sicilians architecture. Ideal starting-point for hikes in the mountains and for visiting the other wonderful villages of the Park (Petralia Soprana, Polizzi Generosa, Geraci Siculo, Gangi, Castelbuono, Isnello), the cottages are in a private property of some hectares, peaceful and isolated. From Petralia, one hour and half driving, is possible to reach Cefalù and the sea of the northern coast of Sicily, a part from Palermo, Agrigento, Catania and Etna.

Quiet and Peaceful Rural Retreat

  • 5 of 5

A charming cottage in the mountains, surrounded by woodland and orchards - a great place to see the local birds and flowers. We stayed in the Pear Tree House which is ideal for a couple or small family. Ferdinando provided a warm and helpful welcome and was always pleased to offer his help and assistance. I would recommend this property to those looking for a quiet and relaxed holiday in the Sicilian Mountains.

lovely cottage in a peacefull place

  • 5 of 5

It was very hard to quit this lovely stone build cottage, beautifully renovated, in such a peacefull place. There are many attentive détails in the house, wich is prettily decorated and perfectly clean. We enjoyed the wood burning stove and the private land around the house.

We won't forget the fantastic welcome of the owner, who has been so helpfull and thoughfull, incredibly considerate with us.

  • 5 of 5

  • 5 of 5

  • 5 of 5

A delightful cottage in a beautiful location.

  • 5 of 5

We were met by Massimo and shown to the cottage. He had lit the fire and it was delightfully warm. What a friendly welcome. That you Massimo. The location and ambience exceeded expectations. Such a peaceful and relaxing location. We enjoyed exploring the grounds on our rest days. The walking notes left by Ferdinando were excellent and provided many options to explore the region. We will treasure our memories of the area of the friendly locals we met and the hospitality shown by Ferdinando and his family.
