Our cabin is perfect for people (maximum of 5) who want to experience the out-of-doors with an active day of adventure or who want to simply relax by the fire, take in the views, and be comfortable! The log cabin features 3 bedrooms, 2 upstairs and 1 downstairs, 2 bathrooms, a fully stocked kitchen, flat screen television, fireplace, front porch, BBQ, and generous parking in the woods with views of Orchard Gap and a stocked pond.
We are a couple with diverse backgrounds but similar interests. Spoma grew up in Los Angeles and Lewis grew up in South Carolina. Spoma is a first generation American and Lewis' family has been here since the start. We came together in NC, one as a professor (Spoma), the other as a lawyer (Lewis), both working to advance justice and ethics in the community. Lewis is now retired, but working hard nonetheless! We stay at the cabin often, but when we're not there, we might be in another city to visit friends (Denver, LA, Las Vegas, Savannah) or in another country to meet new friends (recently, S. Korea, England, France, Italy). We have 4 grown children, 1 shy dog, and 4 teen chickens who provide us enough eggs to eat all year long.
Lewis Pitts & Spoma Jovanovic purchased this house in 2008
This cabin and where it's situated is as beautiful as it gets! We found this "little piece of heaven" within easy driving distance from our primary home and knew it was perfect. In all the years we've owned it, we say every time we walk in the door, "WE LOVE THIS PLACE!"
The front porch delivers on the promise of offering a relaxed space to unwind from the M-F schedule. The wood throughout the house smells so good. The kitchen is open, allowing the smells of dinner or an apple pie in the oven to permeate. Lewis has found a new hobby in collecting wood pieces and crafting them into creatures, birds, and candle holders--all sprinkled around the house.
The Pitts' home is one of the nicest, pet friendly homes we've stayed in. The owners are welcoming, easy to communicate with, responsive and clearly care about their guests. Of the many small surprises we found when we arrived were local wine, eggs, spices and many condiments that we didn't have to bring. The experience definitely raises the bar of hospitality that I don't expect to see again or often. The one thing I'd like to have is a queen bed in the downstairs master bedroom. Many thanks!
My friend and I shared a wonderful 3 days together staying at this sweet cabin. Loads of room for each of us, large open kitchen, two areas for "chilling"....the goodies that Spoma provides are above and beyond the usual supplies: bottle each of red and white wine, fresh eggs, sausage, sodas, chocolate, etc. Most of all, the place and its view of the Blue Ridge Mountains are such a treat! The heating (it was chilly at night) was very effective throughout the cabin, everything clean, and welcoming. One important caveat: for anyone who has vision problems, be aware that you will drive a mile or so ride up the 2-lane mountain road to get to this lovely spot. Any night time driving may need to be ruled out. However, once there, you're in paradise!
We have rented many vacation homes throughout the years and this one, hands down, has to rate very near to the top!! (If not THE top one) The owners are lovely and caring people. The view from their deck is spectacular looking over the blue ridge mountains. At night time its just as beautiful seeing all the lights in the valley while the stars looked so close we could almost touch them. Yes........this rental is a must......its like a little piece of heaven right here on earth!
What a wonderful place to spend time slowing down and escaping from daily hassles of emails and traffic jams. The cabin has everything you need and makes cooking while on vacation a joy. The kitchen has everything you need and very conducive for small or large family. The cabin was very clean and the views were spectacular. Walks either short or long, early morning or late at night are extremely enjoyable from this location. I am looking forward to renting again and strongly recommend if you want to get away and enjoy peace and quite, make this one of your stops.
Set in the rolling hills of the Blue Ridge Parkway, this cabin is close to the Piedmont of NC and easily accessible from travelers using I-77. Within 45 minutes, you can visit a half dozen wineries, craft brew stores, hundreds of trails, historic parks, festival venues, and more. Relaxation awaits, recreation surrounds you, and the views/weather are superb!
Luxurious mountain community with serene scents and wildlife noises will keep you entertained on the deck as you watch the sun rise and set each day.
