Magical Christmas Holiday

  • 5 of 5

We had the best time at this cute house. Much bigger than I expected, pictures are so hard to tell. Owners had a Christmas tree and a few nice holiday decorations that were such a nice touch. Kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed for making all meals at the house. We loved the fireplace and the hot tub was so relaxing after a day of hiking. I usually make a list of things that are missing or would be helpful so I can tell the home owner and we came up with nothing!! My only complaint if you'd even consider it a complaint is the "aloha" living room furniture is not very comfy and both my girls and myself got a sliver from it. The location is awesome, we didn't see or hear another car or person our entire stay. We came from Oahu's hustle and bustle looking for a cute cozy hideaway close to Volcanos for our ohana to spend Christmas and we found just that. Loved the house and the trip, we will be back for sure!! Mahalo

nice secluded house

  • 5 of 5

enjoyed the stay here it exceeded expectations. One of the best equipped kitchens of any rental I've ever been to. Just one note the hot tub works well, is clean, but is small and only really fit for 2 people (if you like being close) so don't have any expectations of a large group using it at the same time.

Secret Garden near Volcano

  • 5 of 5

Jeff and Cathy,

Words can't describe what a great time we have had staying in your house and exploring Kileaua and the surrounding area. We don't want to leave! This was our first VRBO experience, and it's been so enjoyable that we're sure it won't be our last. Your location was the best we could hope for. We were able to see a green sand beach and a black sand beach, as well, with a reasonably close drive. The hot tub was a welcome sight each evening, as we also hiked the Kau Desert and many other trails. If we make it back to the "big island", we'll look into staying with you again. Your house was comfy, cozy, and very secluded. Just what we like! Thanks, so much!

Remote property with beautiful lush surroundings

  • 5 of 5

We loved our time at the Secret Garden. The home was so spacious and inviting. We spent the first half of our trip on the Kona side experiencing the sun and desert terrain. It was a nice change of scenery to experience the Hilo/Volcano side of the island. The vegetation is so lush and we loved the rainforest. The majority of our time at this property it was raining, hard, but being from Seattle, it reminded us of home and made this home feel even more warm and cozy. The lava tube on the property is also very cool. We took some pictures and checked it out, but made sure to stay behind the small fence that is up.

This property was very well stocked, the only thing we needed and didn't have was a cheese grater. It was very well equipped and we cooked most of our meals there.

Volcano National Park is about 5 miles away from the house and is definitely worth the drive. We spent a day there hiking, driving the Craters Road and also enjoyed dinner at the Volcano House restaurant so that we could see Kilauea glowing at night. After dinner we drove over to the Jagger Museum and it was amazing!! We looked through the telescope on-site and could see up close the lava bubbling and pouring out of the crevasse. It was awesome.

If you are looking to get away from it all, this is the place for you. Come and let the tree frogs sing you to sleep in the Secret Garden.
