|Minimum Stay||3 nights|
Each bedroom has its own shower and washbasin. The living and dining rooms are separated by the new and very well equipped open plan kitchen. Set out as a duplex, upstairs an additional bedroom also features a TV area. There is Wi-Fi throughout the holiday flat.
Renovated a year ago, this warm and comfortable flat is a 5-minute walk from the famous Place de l'Etoile and Champs Élysées.
We are ideally located close to many metro lines. These lead to the main monuments in Paris: the Eiffel Tower, the Trocadéro, Les Invalides, the Louvre Museum, etc.
It is set in a commercial district on Avenue des Ternes, although it is calm because down one side it gives onto a pretty, recently repainted courtyard and the other side leads to a large garden.
In addition, the lounge has a glass roof that gives it brightness during the day and lets you stargaze at night...
We were a family group of 10, covering 3 generations (ages 5 to 70) with 6 adults (3 couples) and 4 children (2 of adult height), renting for a week over New Year (cold but dry in Paris). It was our first experience with a HomeAway property rental and the arrangements for renting/payment etc. appeared to work well, with good and regular contact / advice from owner Isabelle who proved to be helpful and flexible.
The apartment is well located in a quiet neighbourhood with excellent facilities nearby - boulangerie/patisserie, fromagerie, Carrefour, chemist, cafes, ATM etc. within 2 mins of the front door. Four Metro stations and the Air France transfer coach stop are all about 10 mins away. It proved to be a good base for seeing most of the major sights in Paris.
The apartment is on the 3rd floor through a rear courtyard from the street entrance and has no lift, so all visitors need to be reasonably fit. Our general view was that if you can manage the Metro (few escalators/many steps) you can manage the stairs. The apartment itself was quiet and well presented, with adequate seating and space in the sitting room for 10, even with a Christmas tree. It had a large flat screen TV, DVD player etc. and there is good, reliable Wi-Fi throughout.
There is a separate dining room , which can accommodate 10, and a well equipped galley kitchen between sitting and dining rooms. Cooking regularly for 10 results in some pressure on space but is manageable. There is a small utility room (washer, drier, iron) off the dining room.
At the main apartment level, there was one toilet and 3 double bedrooms off the sitting room, each with shower and wash hand basin (compact). Two of these bedrooms had pull out beds and were for children. Upstairs from the sitting room were two attic bedrooms (both doubles) one of which was the main bedroom with en-suite shower and toilet/wash hand basin. Headroom for access to the other bedroom was restricted and considered suitable only for young adults or children.
Heating was provided by panel heaters throughout the apartment - we didn't touch any of the controls and it worked well. However, showering in the morning needs to be managed to prevent the hot water system from being overwhelmed. That said, it heated up again quite quickly.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay, and had no significant problems. The apartment is probably better matched to 2 couples and 4-6 children, but we would happily repeat our experience.
The photos don't do justice to how lovely this apartment is. We stayed there for 3 nights in July, with a family of 9 people, three generations -- 6 adults and 3 children -- ranging in age from 5 to 70. The owner, Isabelle, was delightful and very accommodating of our needs. The home was immaculate, and the toys were a big hit with our grandchildren. The location is excellent -- just a short walk to the Arc de Triomphe, yet in a relatively quiet neighborhood. There is a good supermarket within one block, so that we could easily prepare meals at home, yet there were also several nice cafes nearby that were accommodating to a large family group. The bathrooms are modern and quite compact, with narrow shower stalls that could be a bit confining to large people, but they served us very well. The only caveat I have is that the apartment is on the top floor, with skylights, and on a hot night the upper level bedrooms can be quite warm. Our two grandsons solved that problem by sleeping comfortably on the couches in the living room on the hottest nights. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and would recommend this as an excellent home from which to explore Paris. We would gladly stay here again.
