Garrett and Laura moved to Winter Park shortly after they were married and both found employment in the Central Florida area. They were immediately taken with the charm of Winter Park, especially the historic College Quarters area surrounding Rollins College, as it is nestled among tall oak trees with views of Lake Virginia. They found their dream home, a 1925 bungalow, and over time welcomed 4 children into their family. As their family grew, so did their need for a larger home. Unwilling to say goodbye to their first home and their wonderful neighbors, Garrett and Laura decided to enter the world of vacation rentals until they can one day return to the house they love so much. Their hope is that you too will find this bungalow and this neighborhood to be a special place to stay!
Margie Bridges purchased this cottage in 1997
Only two blocks from Park Avenue, this historic bungalow home is perfectly situated for all of your vacation needs! Stroll the Avenue and its unique boutiques, dine al fresco at one of the many delicious restaurants, relax in Central Park, take a ride on the Scenic Boat Tour, shop the Farmer's Market on Saturday mornings, or enjoy a night of entertainment at the local Cineplex or playhouse. Visitors to Rollins College will enjoy the convenient one block walk to campus. This home is also conveniently located to Downtown Orlando, the brand new Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, Amway Center, and Citrus Bowl. If theme parks are your thing, you can be to Sea World, Universal, and Disney within 30 - 45 minutes. Beach lovers will appreciate the proximity to New Smyrna and Cocoa Beaches.
This charming home has been renovated with all the modern conveniences but still maintains its historic charm. It is located on a quaint street that runs into beautiful Lake Virginia, part of the Winter Park Chain of Lakes. Walk down to the lake to take in a glorious sunrise! The surrounding neighborhood is perfect for long walks and runs. At dusk, let the screened in front porch call your name to enjoy a glass of wine or head out to the side patio and fire up the grill for dinner. On cold nights, light a fire in the fire pit and enjoy the stars above as you snuggle up with your special someone.
We were looking for a place to stay in Winter Park, that was not a hotel and that was close to Rollins College because we planned on staying for several days after dropping our son off at school. The pictures do not do this home justice!!! It was immaculate and so homey feeling. It has all of the comforts of home plus all of the quaintness and character that a home like this would be expected to have in the heart of Winter Park and literally just a few minute walk to Rollins College campus. We thoroughly enjoyed the location and all that Winter Park has to offer. We spent several evenings walking the neighborhood, enjoying the beautiful homes as we strolled along the beautiful Lake Virginia. This home is perfectly located to get to everything such as great restaurants and shopping. My son is a student athlete, playing baseball at Rollins, so we plan on making this home, our "home away from home" when we frequent the area to watch his games. The owners were a pleasure to deal with and they made it convenient to check in and out. We will certainly be back!!
If i have to go back to Winter Park I will sure stay in this same cottage.
We were Three and perfectly can be use for 4.
Margie was so helpful and caring.
Thank you so much for everything!!
We loved everything about the home from the location, to the gourmet kitchen stove and over sized beds. The home was very clean inside and out which made the visit even nicer. Marge has the home decorated in a comfy fashion that makes you feel like this is your home. It is not over the top and done in good taste.
If there was a negative and it wasn't by much we were instructed not to turn the air below 75 as it might freeze up and at night it got a little warm in the master bedroom. I'm looking forward to my next stay in this awesome place.
This is a wonderful home to stay in. It is spacious, comfortable, clean and beautifully decorated. The photographs don't really do the property justice, the cottage is even nicer than the photographs. One of my favorite spots was the screened-in porch, where you can watch the sun set as well as the moon rise over tropical foliage and charming historic architecture. It is also located on one of the most beautiful streets in Winter Park. If you like to walk, at the end of the street is a gorgeous huge lake. If you walk to the left, you can walk along the lake or through Rollins College, which is stunning and right to downtown Winter Park. If you walk to the right, you can walk through beautiful tropical, historic neighborhoods. Staying here was a real treat. And Margie was incredibly helpful and could not have been more hospitable.
We were in Winter Park for our daughter's wedding. We rented the house for ourselves and two dear friends but also wanted a place where we could entertain family and wedding guests in the days leading up to and after the event. We got everything we wanted and more.
The house is spotlessly clean and very tastefully up-to-date (without spoiling the original Arts & Crafts feel). The kitchen had everything we needed. We made use of the gas grill one evening. The combination kitchen/breakfast/family room was spacious enough, that on the day of the wedding, we were able to accommodate the bride, 5 bridesmaids, two hairdressers and a cosmetologist who were there to get hair and make-up done. We also had room in the adjoining living and dining rooms for miscellaneous drop-ins - spouses, friends, family. Margie was a very welcoming host.
The very tourist-friendly center of Winter Park is a short walk away and provided lots of options for dining and recreation. Many high-end retail shops line Park Avenue.
It was wonderful in every respect and provided the ideal secondary venue for our family's celebration. Our only regret is that we can't think of another reason to go back ... yet.
We just LOVED this house and location! The split floor plan was perfect for our daughter and her husband, and their baby, who slept in the office... all in their own wing. My husband and I had our own area. This is an ideal floor plan for two couples, as the bedrooms are very large, great closets, wood floors, almost "even" in terms of space. The house is light-filled and charming, and the manager was "on top of it," greeting us as we arrived! Walk to shops, the Farmers Market, great restaurants, parks... and the lake at the end of the street. Don't miss the boat tour!
