Tucson Desert Paradise

  • 5 of 5

Nestled next to the picturesque mountains behind Starr Pass is this Desert Paradise. With Catalina Mountain views enhanced by the silhouetted sunset this home creates a unique combination of upscale living and an uncompromising passion for lasting memories. Our weeklong excursion ended entirely too soon to capture all this property has to offer. We highly recommend this unrivaled flourishing paradise to anyone seeking a time of solitude and relaxation to rejuvenate the heart and mind. Thanks Ron for sharing your creation of desert paradise therapy.

Wonderful Property

  • 5 of 5

My family and I stayed here for a week and it was absolutely perfect. My in-laws live nearby and we were able to visit in this lovely home. We were able to enjoy the hummingbirds and deer all around the home. The pool and spa and the outdoor area was where we spent most of our time. Ron was wonderful to work with and very accommodating. My two sons didn’t want to sleep in the same bed and Ron quickly set up an additional twin in another area. 5 stars plus! Don’t hesitate to rent this property.

Beautiful home and location

  • 5 of 5

If you are even considering this house you should go ahead and rent it. We enjoyed our week in Tucson at Ron’s beautiful house. The house was as expected though the photos don’t really do it justice. The rooms are all more spacious than they appear and the furnishings are high end. There are some nice extra touches such as spices in the kitchen, a starter supply of paper products, hand soap in all the bathrooms and a dispenser with good quality body wash, shampoo and conditioner in all the showers. The views are amazing, we loved just sitting on the patios and watching the world go by. We saw deer and humming birds and heard other wildlife in the mornings. We found the location to be convenient, especially to Gates Pass and Saguaro West. Every evening we would drive Gates Pass and stop at one of the pull overs and walk a trail as we watched the sunset. It was such a lovely end to the day. Ron was great to work with, you can tell he really cares about the house and the renters having a nice time. Our only disappointment was that the poll heater wasn’t working. Ron did his best to address this in a timely manner and refunded the money we had paid for pool heat. Based on our experience with the pool I would highly recommend paying for pool heat if you are visiting in April.

a beautiful spot in a beautiful place.

  • 4 of 5

We had a week of beautiful weather in Tucson! And this estate property was lovely. There were some complications that came up on the property, and amenities that weren't functioning. Ron did his best to try and attend to these things.

Owner's Response: Thanks Peter , It was a pleasure having you as our guests . Unfortunately the pool pump stopped working the last 2 nights . While unpredictable , we do our best to get things fixed as quickly as possible . There was also some construction on the HOA road in front of the house that I was able to get delayed until after my guests departed .

Beautiful House, Mixed Landlord

  • 3 of 5

This rental gets three stars because it is a really beautiful home in a very special location with a spectacular view. Please read below for some of the many nice things it. We had a good stay but it was marred by very mixed dealings with the landlord. Two months before our rental we met with Ron at the house to discuss arrangements as we were hosting a rehearsal dinner. He was very accommodating and helpful and walked us around to show us additional parking. However, on arrival he suddenly announced that there was to be ABSOLUTELY no parking on the pavement around the house, only in the garage and a small strip of dirt in back.. My husband hadn't yet arrived and when I tried to remind Ron of our discussion he became so hostile and aggressive that I felt I was being bullied. The whole trip was like that. One minute he was friendly and accommodating and the next he was angry and bullying. We knew the previous guests had more people for their wedding then they'd agreed to and that Ron had nearly come to blows with the bridegroom before the ceremony. We kind of assumed that, in part, we were paying for their violation.

I am a very frequent and satisfied user of VRBO. In all my experiences, we received a bill that included all the expenses and the time frame for payment. Four months ahead, we got the bill for the full, non refundable amount, which we paid. Then a few weeks before arrival, we got another bill with charges that had not been included and hadn't been even referred to. He did agree to reduce some of the charges, and he has since made them clearer on his listing. But we couldn't help but feel we were being low-balled. He also avoided communicating via VRBO so things weren't in writing.

This is a luxury rental with high end decor, design and furnishings. We've rented several luxury rentals. This one cheaps out on supplies - we had to ask for more toilet paper the first day. We were greeted with a long list of things we must and must not do on arrival, with threats to withhold the deposit for not complying. The list included dishes not only in the dishwasher but PUT AWAY before the 10 AM departure. We paid for heating the pool and spa, but they were heated on a timer so often were cold.

Pluses: the view is truly amazing. The layout is great for small gatherings, we spent a lot of time on the patio. The pool is lovely, though oddly designed. Beds are comfy. I'm not saying don't rent this property. Just get things in writing.

Owner's Response: I would like to respond to the customers complaints one at a time , 1. Before they reserved , they said they were having a few people over for dinner , but then announced to me at arrival that 45 people would be coming . My house rules do not allow parties or events , Since all the plans were made and people invited , they put me in a very bad spot . I told them that I had a problem with a previous guest and an unauthorized party and she went ahead and did the same thing to me . I couldn't believe it . She didn't listen to one word I said . 2. I NEVER said they could park on the driveway , I spent $2000 building a large parking area ( 1500 sq ft ) behind the house . The garage also holds up to 6 cars . You can easily park 10-12 cars without parking in front of my house . I explained to them I have HOA restrictions that I have to follow . 3. I was never a bully . She was the bully . She didn't want to follow any of my house rules . Forced her 45 person party on me and told me the pool wasn't heated when in fact in was 85 degrees . She had to argue with me about putting their dishes away before checkout . I was firm about my rules but always respectful and professional . 4. All extras such as pool heat and exit cleaning are in the advertisement . The pool was heated to 85 degrees their entire stay . 5. The home was completely stocked with everything someone would need , but the home didn't have enough toilet paper for her entire stay , I told her I would drop off more the next day . I was very accommodating to this guest , and don't deserve this review . I gave them a personal house showing 3 months before they arrived . i was available anytime they needed something during their stay . Her husband and family were great and very nice to me . I would never recommend this person to rent a home. She believes that rules are not made for her and knows how to work the system to get her way .

Washington State

Over The Top ( 6 Stars if there was such a thing )

  • 5 of 5

This place is a fortress. From the front to the back of the home, no expense was spared in the design and features throughout. Come and relax in the Tucson sun. Enjoy the sunsets as well as the sunrises from the amazing patio. The views are some of the best in the southwest we have seen. My wife and I are from Washington State and visited on our 20th Anniversary and to let everyone know, we have already booked for another stay, we will keep that a secret as to when, So no one can take this Desert oasis away from us. The wildlife was great to see and enjoy. Ron the owner was top notch as well. Add this to your bucket list if you have one! Thanks again Ron and your family for allowing us to visit your beautiful home.
