About Chris Kolb

The Kolb family built The Pondhouse in 1977 and we have been caring for it ever since.

Chris Kolb purchased this cottage in 1977

Why Chris Kolb chose South Chatham

It is a treasured place of summer memories both for our family and for the many visitors we have rented to, some that return every summer.

What makes this cottage unique

Far enough away from the bustle of downtown to avoid the crowds, but close enough to enjoy the shops.

Guestbook comments from the manager

We left our home in NJ after being without power for 7 days due to Hurricane Irene. What a great place to arrive after a week like that! The Pondhouse is so peaceful and the view is beautiful. We loved every minute of it and every inch of the house. We enjoyed walking every day to the beach with our dogs through the trail (which the dogs led us to after a couple of trips there). The house had everything we needed and we didn't need to go anywhere. The Box Office Cafe for pizza is an excellent choice for a casual meal when you don't feel like barbecuing or cooking. I would recommend this house to anyone looking for a vacation that is truly a do nothing, relaxing vacation. No need to move your car for the week once you have your supplies! We will be back!

Notes:
Other Activities: Kayaking from the landing visible from The Pondhouse is very popular for locals and tourists alike. Embark on a journey around the salt pond, down the salt river and out into Nantucket Sound. Experience Great Blue Herons, Kingfishers, Osprey, Striped Bass and Bluefish. Fish from a kayak, pond edge or The Jetty at the mouth of the river. Kayaks can be rented and delivered. Try www.goose.com and http://www.insidecapecod.com for rental and delivery. Chatham has received the 'Distinctive Destinations Award Recipient' from the National Trust for Historic Preservation. It's waters and history are diverse and unique. The Cockle Cove community of South Chatham is the best kept secret; rural and surrounded by vital marshlands including a salt water pond and channel to Nantucket Sound large enough for a 21' outboard center console sport fishing boat. An awe inspiring 15 minute kayak ride brings you to the mouth of Eel Creek also known as 'The Jetty', a remote stretch of beach

Comfortable, homey house with expansive views of pond.

Listing accurate. Comfortable, functional house. Well-stocked with pots, pans, dishes etc for the kitchen. Wonderful, amazing views of the pond (this is one of the reasons I chose this house and it lived up to listing completely). Very good customer service by the owner. A great location with short drives to shopping and restaurants in both Harwich and Chatham. Bring your own towels and sheets (and blankets if weather is chilly). House was well heated during my December stay. I highly recommend and would definitely rent again.
