Very charming and quaint little house in a gorgeous location. It was very clean with nice linens and towels. We had a wonderful 3 nights here complete with a fun kitchen party. Very memorable and I would highly recommend this house Loved every minute there

Sweet vintage home

  • 3 of 5

A lovely, simple cottage, reminiscent of time gone by in this quiet outport community. Home is cozy, and water view out back is great...bonus to have a fire pit. Only thing missing was a kitchen party and a welcome plate of goodies...now THAT would've made it a stellar stay! ☺️

Owner's Response: We were hoping to keep our 5 star streak going... ! The three star rating comes from a customer that felt they deserved a kitchen party and lobster. Note that the house is sometimes used in the evenings by a tour company CapeRace Newfoundland Adventures for a kitchen party. Be sure to check them out. Here's the response from the customer, a travel writer, when I asked if the house did not meet her expectations... ... "Hi Ken, no, the place is very nice! We enjoyed our time and the outdoor space was a highlight. But, as I said in the review, the place is made for a kitchen party, so without one, I couldn't give it a higher rating. Other reviews mention such a party and welcoming goodies, and we even met a fellow in town who said he played a kitchen party at the house the very night before we arrived! So I'm afraid anything less for our stay was a bit disappointing. Maybe others who read all your reviews might hope for or expect to be surprised by one too. I was sure hoping for it! Would've been a highlight for sure, and something I could've mentioned in my upcoming article..”

Beautiful and quaint! A perfect spot to get away from it all!

Lovely house with a beautiful view. Even on a cold Spring day with ice in the harbour, it was a perfect getaway!

Come a stranger, leave as friends!

  • 5 of 5

What an incredible experience from start to finish - we only wish we could stay longer! From making the initial arrangements - Ken responded by email promptly and answered all our questions. To arrival - we were absolutely delighted by this little gem. Beautifully restored and surprisingly roomy, this house was perfect for our family of four plus the grandparents! It had absolutely everything we needed. The beds were super comfy. What an exceptional view. We could not have asked for more. But we got more - a kitchen party to boot! Jerry and the band and some friendly neighbours - dancing to music in our kitchen until the wee hours. We did not expect such fun. Although we did not take one of the cultural tours - I recommend it - these people at Cape Race know how to plan an adventure. Elizabeth was an exceptional hostess and was absolutely key to making our stay special. She greeted us with smiles and homemade goodies and her thoughtfulness was very much appreciated. Saying goodbye really felt like we were leaving family. See you next summer!

Amazing Family Getawar

  • 5 of 5

Thank you so much Gerry and Elizabeth! You made our stay amazing! We were not disappointed when it came to the Kitchen party. We met so many new friends. The music and Schreeching in was such a treat for my family to experience. The beds were so comfortable and the house was just what we expected. We stayed here for 5 days and experienced the food an culture that Newfoundland has to offer. Would love to return again!

Owner's Response: Thanks Amanda!... Heart's Delight is the best kept secret... we had so much fun with you and your family... nothing beats a peek into the outport culture... we call it an "Eco-Culture Experience"... Hope to see you again soon, now that you're all honorary Newfoundlanders...
