|Minimum Stay||3 - 4 nights|
The apartment takes the 2nd and top floor of an early 15th century 'palazzetto' on the village square. It faces East on the Altieri Palace and the Vignola Fountain, West on the antique Borgo's roofs, and South on the Via Clodia. The antique stone stair-case, belonging to the property, leads to the upper floor.
Here there is a living-room, a sitting room and a large well equipped kitchen. At the top floor there are two bed-rooms and the bathroom.
The apartment has been recently renovated, double glazed and has a private central heating.
Rome 48 Km. - Viterbo 40 Km. - Bracciano Lake 6 Km. - the seaside (S. Severa) 20Km.
The railway station is at seven minutes walkind distance from the house. Trains to Rome and Viterbo run every hour.
The fare to Rome is about 5,00 euros.
There is also a bus running to Rome, the stop is just across the street.
At walking distance you can taste the traditional local cuisine in the small restaurants, pizzerias, coffee-bars and small delicatessen shops.
Free parking in the nearby streets.
In this place I happily spent my younger age in my parents' home. That's why I love so much this village.
Oriolo Romano, a small 15th century holiday village located among the hills at 450m asl is parte of the Sabatine chains of hills running into Bracciano lake, halfway between Rome an Viterbo. one of the main reasons to stay here is the closeness to Rome at costs definitely unexpensive.
We suggest to visit this area because, between all the attractions, in the nearby, it is possible to find many Etruscan sites: Tarquinia, Barbarano Romano with its Marturanum, Blera and Cerveteri, the antique Caere.
Close to the apartment, you can find l'Olmata, an elm groves of shady trees, where you can walk and breath 'clean' air, enjoing the peace from the noise of traffic.
In the old center of the village where shot scenes of the Oscar winner film 'Nuovo Cinema Paradiso'.
The location of the apartment and the breathtaking view from the windows has captured us at once.
Cinque stelle meritate dalla prima all'ultima.
Oriolo is a small town in the Lazio countryside. Not touristic, it's nice to blend in with the locals, and enjoy swimming in one of the vulcan lakes. Lake Martignano is a little difficult to get to, but worth the trip; the lake is beautiful and very clean - a good kept secret by the locals. After a day swimming you can go to the neighbouring lake Bracciano and have diner at one of the many lakeside restaurants. The apartment is a 10 minutes walk from the Oriolo train station, every 2 hours a train takes you straight to St. Pietro Square for about 3 Euro. After a long day visiting Rome's treasures, you can travel back to Oriolo, away from the noisy tourists, and have a relaxed cool beer or white wine in one of Oriolo's bars - absolutely perfect. There's a choice of many restaurants in Oriolo and nearby towns - our favourite was 'I Sapori Della Maremma' in Canale Monterano. The apartment spans the top two levels of a very authentic building in the town centre, with a matching interior - it was a joy to stay in. The owners were very kind and helpful.
This April we had a fantastic stay in this amazing duplex apartment in the heart of the historic village Oriolo Romano that is located an hour north of Rome by train, bus or car.
For us this was the best of both worlds. While we loved being in a quiet historic village, we could go to Rome for the day and retreat to our serene and spacious apartment in the evenings.
During our stay we loved being able to walk around the small town that offers everything, from coffee bars to vegetable markets, a supermarket, pizzerias and restaurants. We loved experiencing life as the locals do, away from the chaos of some of the other cities we visited on our trip.
The apartment itself is very well maintained, comfortable and charming with a kitchen fully equipped to cook a meal if you so desire and even a washing machine!
How to get to Oriolo:
Please to write us and we will give you all the information.
