Farmhouse sleeps 16-24 guests in a private, historic, yet updated setting with gourmet cooks kitchen featuring Miele and Viking appliances, and a large island perfect for gathering. Bring only your toothbrush for a great escape from the city. Everything you need is provided. Proprietor will shop for provisions, if desired. Country living in a beautiful outdoor setting, spectacular views, rock outcroppings, restored stone walls, step back in time - feels like a world away! Yet less than one hour to Manhattan, 20 miles to Westpoint, Hudson River and Hudson Valley attractions, sports, nature, restaurants, peaceful walks, bird watching, kayaking and more. Unique architectural touches with a modern cook's kitchen with Viking and Miele appliances make a great combination. Working fireplace, beautiful wide plank flooring, circular entrance foyer. Perfect for family or friend gatherings and retreats where up to 24 people will sleep comfortably. Enjoy sitting together in large dining room for special celebratory dinners. Activities galore or simply take in the beautiful views with a glass of wine or a cup of early morning coffee.

This is a great spot for a large group. We celebrated our Mother's birthday with 20+ people. It was nice to have 8 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms. The house is beautiful, yet comfortable, plenty of room to spread out. The property is great for hiking, tennis, etc. Very easy to get into NYC by train. Fresh flowers were waiting for us. We had a memorable weekend!

Beautiful home and property!

We had a terrific stay at Lakewood House! Five families from Boston, NY, and Baltimore met here for a long weekend. There was plenty of space for all of us and the layout of the house was perfect. We cozied up around the fire, explored the grounds, made meals in the kitchen, and the kids played in the basement or hide and seek throughout the house. We would love to stay here again!

We had a great time at this property, but the real gem was the above and beyond attention Greta provides to make your stay wonderful. She ensured everything was ready for our arrival and continued to provide great service during our stay. Would definitely stay here again for another long weekend!

Just like home - but better!!

This large home was perfectly situated for a friends weekend getaway, as well as being the perfect size. It was easy to get to whether driving or by public transportation, and close enough to NYC. Each family had their own room and there were enough bathrooms so that no one had to wait too long. The grounds were extensive, where we can choose to kayak in the lake, play tennis, take a nature hike or sit by the fire pit and make s'mores. The kitchen became a focal point for our group, being a nice size so we won't bump into eachother. But we also made good use of the grill!

Greta was so welcoming that her home felt like our home right away. She provided lovely touches to each room, making it feel like we are privileged guests in her home. She was extremely responsive in planning for the trip and ready to offer suggestions to make the weekend even better. We will definitely consider Lakewood House for our next weekend away!

Amazing house, amazing location, amazing host!

We rented this house for a 10-person, 4-day executive retreat. Easy, 1-hour drive from NYC. The home and property were beautiful and everyone had more than enough room. Gorgeous, fully furnished kitchen with everything we needed to cook for large, group dinners every night. Tons of great outdoor space for meals, s'mores around the fire pit, grilling, games, etc. The homeowner, Greta, was an amazing hostess. Extremely helpful and accommodating both before and during our stay. Gave us great tips on local attractions, transportation, shopping, etc. and helped us coordinate logistics for everything. Everyone had a great time - we'd definitely stay there again!
