Beautiful new kitchen features GE profile appliances, marble counter tops, and all the things necessary to whip up fabulous vacation meals. Two queen bedrooms are upstairs. About Rodney & Marnie

I am a migrant film worker making movies in New Orleans. My partner Marnie and I came here from Hollywood to work on a film and fell in love with the city. At first we we're VRBO guests, now we're VRBO hosts. We split our time between L.A. and LA. We love to travel and spend any time we can in exotic foreign places. We enjoy meeting people from all over and hosting them in the fabulous city of New Orleans. The culture, food and history are as rich and exciting as any we've found in the world.

Why Rodney & Marnie chose Wairarapa

While our neighborhood is quiet and comfortable, it offers easy access to all the fun and festivities of New Orleans. I especially love going to Riccobono's Panola Cafe just a block away. Evenings you can walk or take the streetcar to Carrollton Station for cocktails then carry on to Jacques-Imo's or the Mellow Mushroom for dinner. When in the mood for some more serious frivolity, the French Quarter is only a 15 minute drive. For family fun, Audubon Park and the zoo are close by. We love this neighborhood, so will you!

Great House to Call "Home Base" While Exlporing NOLA

We came down to NOLA for a girls weekend at Jazz Fest. The owners sent us a great one sheet with all that we needed to know about the property which was SO helpful! The house is charming and the outdoor space is prefect - nice grass yard to sun in and a covered patio and front porch to cool down on. The property was very clean and had all the kitchen supplies we needed to cook. The neighborhood is also great, with St Charles Street just a few blocks away.

I will absolutely stay here again and will recommend it to friends!

Very convenient and clean

We were in town for Thanksgiving with my daughter who lives there. We really loved this house! It is an EASY walk to the trolley, and in the evening we took an Uber XL to Preservation Hall and dinner and the toll was $15.00 which was not bad when split between our group. We found the furnishings very comfortable and the place was very clean - with seemingly new appliances! We had our coffee outside in the quiet backyard several days. We felt totally safe in the pretty neighborhood, and it was very quiet. The owners have a very organized system for checking in, it was super smooth! A large group showed up for the unit next door, and while we could hear them walking a bit, we hardly noticed they were there! The only reason I did not give it a 5 was because it did not have that "home away from home" feel we have gotten from other homeaway stays - for example, there did not appear to be hot pads, and while there were pots and fry pans, no casserole or cookie sheets. But really, those were minor things, and I only mention them because you may want to inventory the kitchen if you are planning on cooking. We had Thanksgiving at my daughter's small apartment, after trying to cook one meal for our group at the house, it just seemed easier. But if you are in NOLA you should be eating out anyway - the food is sooooo good!

Great house Uptown!

Stayed in the smaller half (2 bed) of this two family for over a week during Christmas and New Years. The house was exactly as described and very clean. Quality towels and linens. Nice to have the bedrooms all upstairs so our group was not on top of each other all the time. Did some cooking in the kitchen and it is well equipped. The location was great - two blocks to streetcar, yummy breakfast/lunch café around the corner, all of Uptown only moments away. The backyard, while shared, was very nice and our dog really appreciated it! The larger unit has access to the driveway but we always found parking on street just outside our door. Entire transaction went smoothly.

Uptown Carrolton in Dec

First of all, we want to thank you, Rodney and Marnie, for opening your beautiful home to us to spend a fabulous extended birthday weekend! The weather was perfect - in the 70's - rare for December season. Your home was so comfortable and spacious...great décor and comfortable bed in the master bedroom. Your renovation is fabulous. The kitchen is so contemporary and beautiful! I liked the bathroom designs as well! And the back yard is great for get-togethers on a warm day.

The location to and from New Orleans and the French Quarter was only minutes away, once we became acclimated to the streets and expressways, it was easy to drive around. Can't talk enough about the New Orleans cuisine - we tasted everything from beignets and coffee to crawfish etouffee, jambalaya, gumbo, red beans and rice, to shrimp po'boys! It was an epicurean delight and we had some awesome dining experiences!

Comments: a floor length mirror would be a nice touch; watch out for the bottom step when coming down the stairs as the stairs and floors are the same color, especially during the winter when the sun sets earlier; take care when crossing over the thresholds into each room as the floors have different levels of height; needed a stool/chair to reach the microwave, unless you are over 5'8" :-).

Whether if you are just a couple or a family, you will enjoy the comforts and style of the Uptown/Carrolton home! We would definitely come back again to your rental home for our next New Orleans adventure!
