About the property

3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, Sleeps 6

Amazing views all around! A Cottage in the Dunes faces the Atlantic Ocean out front and the Intracoastal Waterway out back. It is a paradise for anyone who loves the water. Plus, your pets are welcome to join you!

A Cottage in the Dunes is a three-bedroom / two-bathroom, the air-conditioned vacation home that sleeps six and also has a sleeper sofa for additional guests. Walk across the beautiful deck that surrounds the home on three sides and offers incredible ocean views. Imagine sitting out on this deck enjoying a cup of coffee as the sun rises over the Atlantic and you spy dolphins cavorting in the surf. What an experience!

Walk across the threshold and into the main house. Cool, tile floors feel so good on beach-weary feet! There’s a large open living area with lots of comfortable furniture along with a large HDTV with VCR, DVD, and cable. You will be able to keep up with all your favorite programs. Plus, there’s free Internet throughout the home, which is great for making reservations, sending photos home to friends and checking out websites for area attractions. You’ll also love the many windows all around A Cottage in the Dunes that bring nature’s beauty indoors for your enjoyment.

There are a small eating table and a more formal dining room, both within easy reach of the kitchen. These comfortable dining areas are also great places to gather your friends and family for games.

A Cottage in the Dunes’ kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to prepare simple snacks or full-course meals for your family. This large kitchen provides plenty of prep room and lots of cabinets for food storage. Make one trip to the grocery and you’ll be all set.

The main house also contains two of the three bedrooms. One is the master bedroom that is outfitted with a comfortable king-sized bed. Open the windows, let the ocean breezes drift over you and you’ll sleep like a baby. The master also has a TV that’s great for late night viewing. The bathroom features a large walk-in shower and vanity with lots of room to spread out your things and get ready each day.

The second bedroom in the main house features two twin beds that are perfect for either another couple or any kids who join you on your vacation. The large dresser provides plenty of room for guests to store their belongings.

The third bedroom is in the guest suite that has its own keyed entrance and is located in an adjacent building. This elegant guest suite includes a luxurious queen-sized bed and handsome hardwood floors. There’s also a wall mounted TV, which guests can watch from the bed. There’s also a beautiful bathroom adjoining the guest suite with a claw-foot bathtub that’s perfect for an evening soak.

The main house at A Cottage in the Dunes also has a stacked washer and dryer so you can keep your group in clean clothes throughout your stay.

As wonderful as the inside of A Cottage in the Dunes is, probably what you’ll enjoy most are the outdoor areas. You have a private boardwalk leading to the beach and a front row seat to watch the surf crash in on the shore day and night. Plus, from the home’s other side you can sit and watch boats cruising up and down the Intracoastal Waterway. If fishing is your thing, you’ll love that you are just a mile from Devil’s Elbow where you can launch your boat and pick up bait and supplies. This is the vacation getaway you’ve been looking for! Would come back. Great Views Ocean and Intercoastal. Some Improvements needed.

This house was rented for a family of 6. Can't beat the views and location. Beds were fine and slept 6 comfortably. Plenty of TVs and good internet service (although the router needs an update - had to reboot every other day due to demand). Beachfront houses tend to get a lot of hard use - and this one had the normal wear and tear of an older house - but it was very comfortable.

I would have given this house 4 stars except for one glaring problem. The stove is an ancient electric stove with only one small burner (out of the 4) actually working. Try cooking for a family of 6 with one small burner. The kitchen pots and pans were pretty bad as well. This could easily be fixed but it was a real pain. In contrast the washer and dryer are new and modern. AC worked fine. Fridge cooled fine - but NO icemaker. So be prepared to buy ice or fill ice trays.

The other issue (for most people) is that the detached room has NO blinds on the bedroom facing the ocean. No problem if you are a nudist or do not mind hanging and unhanging a blanket across the large window. Also in the detached room, the bathroom has very thin see through curtains. Again this is great if you don't mind having your bathroom open to the ocean. If there was nothing in front of the bathroom this would not be an issue. But the only place to rinse your feet is a water hose directly in front of this bathroom. These problems could be easily resolved with closable blinds in both locations.

Again, I would go back - but only if I could confirm that the stove was actually working.

Had a great time

Great stay. Really enjoyed watching sunrise and sunsets from the decks. Had some minor things that needed repairing, which was reported, and hope they are fixed by our next visit. We definitely plan to book this cottage again. Thanks we had a wonderful time.

Perfect for casual week end at the beach!

  • 4 of 5

Perfect for our family! Casual and practical furnishings. Non-fussy kitchen was all we needed. Great front deck with plenty of chairs. The picnic table was a great gathering place.

We will definitely come back to this house!

breathtaking location/poorly maintained house.

  • 3 of 5

the front and back decks make the property, the views and proximity to the beach and wildlife are superb. The house however is another story. Stove has only two elements working, the microwave has no display, the dishwasher does not dispense soap, the telephone only crackles, when it rains the bedroom windows flood water into the room, the third bedroom has a foul odor, the fridge is a rust bucket, the windows do not stay up, the heating a cooling fan keeps you awake in the bedroom, the gaps under the front door lets in the mice, geckos and small snakes, a lot of lightbulbs are burnt out and the ceiling fans are noisy.

Best EVER!!!

Our first time renting this property. It was the closest to the water I have found. It was clean and had everything necessary for a wornderful much needed vacation. Quiet area and neighbors, plenty of space inside and out. This was by far my favorite rental and I have been coming to the area for yearly vacations for the past 30 years.
