Over looked by the medieval church this traditional French village house has been newly renovated to a high standard. The house comprises of 45m2 over 3 floors, the ground floor has a fully equipped modern kitchen allowing you to prepare meals using fresh produce purchased from the village market. There is also a large kitchen table allowing for 4 people to sit comfortably. The middle floor has a comfortable and cozy lounge area allowing 4 people to rest (or 2 people to sleep) after a busy day at the beach or exploring the many attractions the area has to offer. There is a satellite TV allowing you to watch the programs of your choice. Also on the middle floor there is a bathroom with shower. The top floor contains the master bedroom which has a double bed and plenty of room to store your clothes; through the roof light there is a superb view of the church spire.
(copied from the guest book) We stayed in the area before, but this time we decided to drive from the UK, the owners were very helpful giving us advise on the route to take and where to stay on the way down. The village is traditionally French with its cafes and bars and a fantastic bread shop just round the corner. Market day is great we were able to buy gifts to take home for the family. The house was clean and was exactly as described. It was great having the car as we were able to tour the area there’s so much to see. The weather was great not to hot or cold. A fantastic stay we would recommend it to anyone thank you we hope to come back soon. Clare B and family
Filled with extraordinary riches and complicated history Languedoc-Roussillon has always been more down-to-earth than its eastern neighbor of Provence, and this is reflected in a landscape that ranges from rugged mountains to vine-covered hills and plains, down to its vast coast.
Vias has all the charm of an old town where traces of the past complement the pleasures and needs of modern life. The coloured facades of the village centre mix with buildings constructed in black stone and are adorned with magnificent 17th Century doors. The pretty, narrow streets lead into sun-drenched squares that have a real Mediterranean atmosphere. A few kilometres south of the village, the scene changes: here is a beach resort with 7 km of fine, sandy beaches.
Close to the beaches, you can enjoy a delightful stroll along the banks of the Canal du Midi (listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site), in the shade of its trees planted over a hundred years ago. Vias is on the Languedoc coast between Agde and Béziers. The town is delightfully situated in the charming “Pays d'Agde”, in the western corner of the Hérault, on a curve in the Mediterranean coastline from which you can see both the sea and the countryside.
There are sports for all tastes either in Vias and in the surrounding towns. Mountain bike trails : There are six marked trails to help families explore the area by mountain bike. The trails are generally quite flat and there are distances suited to all levels (9 km to 30 km). They start by the canal, close to the Pont des Jonquiés. Collect your free guide from the Tourist Office. Bikes of all sizes can be hired out cheaply in Vias. Vias Plage has a beach of many miles long, you can go boating swimming, diving, paragliding and horse riding. You can also hire horses and ponys to go by horseback along the banks of the canal. Boats can be hired to explore the canal. There are lots of places to hire out Quad bikes and go-karts. Why don't you try your hand at canoeing? There are lots of caves to be explored in the area.
Every Wednesday and Saturday morning throughout the summer, the heart of Vias bustles with activity all the way to the church, with its attractive markets where you'll find all kinds of local and traditional produce.
Travelling to Languedoc Roussillon from the UK could not be easier as the area has a number of airports with direct connections to the UK. The closest airport to the property is Beziers Cap’agde which is only five minutes away. Flights to this airport are with Ryanair from Bristol or Leeds. A bus or taxis are available for those of you that do not wish to hire a car. You can also fly into Montpelier airport again with Ryanair from Birmingham international this airport is about 45 minutes from the property. You are able to get to the property via bus and train however we would advise that you hired a car which can be done cheaply with one of the agencies based at the airport. This way you are also able to see the many sights the area has to offer. Other airports in the area are Carcassonne, Perpignan and Nimes which are served by various flight companies.
