Beach Gem is a classic Florida stilt home that has six bedrooms, four bathrooms and central air-conditioning. The home sleeps 14 comfortably. Walk through the glass front doors into the huge 1500 square foot great room that encompasses the living room, dining area, kitchen and bar area. You’ll be greeted by beautiful wood floors and a wall of windows that gives you an incredible view of the ocean. The large deck out front wraps around the house to deliver a full range of stunning views. There’s HDTV in the living room and free Internet throughout the house, which is great for checking out area attractions and sending photos to friends back home.

Upstairs the entire floor is dedicated to the master suite that includes a huge bedroom with a king-sized bed, large sofa and its own private deck that overlooks the Intracoastal Waterway. We were welcomed to a shredded American flag, that my family replaced as we could not stand to watch the neglected torn flag fly any longer. The AC unit was broke, when we arrived the top floor was a blazing 95 degrees. I called the maintenance department who informed me someone was on there way which meant they knew it was an issue and allowed us to check in. The AC repair man arrived about an hour later and got to work, he went through the house and to our horror pulled out air filters that Clearly had not been cleaned over six months or more. He advised us to leave them out and told us the unit was working but he was not sure how long it would last as its had issues. We were under the impression he obviously made the management company aware. However we woke up in sweat Sunday night and called first thing Monday morning only to be told they had to get a hold of the owner and we would be called back. At 247 pm we were contacted by Tony from maintenance who informed me he was still trying to contact the owner and offered fans and looked at moving us to another property. So I let him know moving 14 people, a boat, jet ski and our vehicles was not an option and he agreed to call me back; at 750 pm I called the office as I had not heard from Tony. The lady working told me they still had not been able to contact the owner. I requested fans and was told the notes stated I refused them earlier( not true) and it was too late for a PC to deliver, but I could buy them myself and be reimburse. So my husband and I spent our 5 year anniversary on the coach of the house. The following morning I again had to contact management as no one had the courteousy of calling me; I was informed the owner would not agree to replace the unit and there was nothing they could do at the time. I was told we would be contacted about compensation but to date no one has called or emailed. I strongly believe there is a lack of communication between the management and the owner, the deposit fee that is charged and not refunded should be returned to guests especially when the fee is not being used to maintain the property. The AC unit looks terribile and that did not happen over night. I looked forward to this vacation and was heart broken and disillusioned for future VBRO rentals. I let Vac Pro Co know they're booked full and I did not see anything posted about the AC unit; I hope that everyone who reads this asks questions and ensures the property is in mint condition.
This is an amazing property! The sunrise and sunset views are spectacular. The 6 large bedrooms and huge open great room ensure that there is plenty of room for everyone. The upscale finishes give the feel of a truly luxurious vacation retreat. It is even better the pictures! The beach is steps from the front door and the large deck areas provide lots of space to enjoy the sights and sounds of the ocean. The property has a new water purification system so the water was not only potable it was as good as any bottled water. We will definitely be back.
While the house is spectacular, it should not be allowed to be rented. The water reeked with sulphur and was not potable. Unfortunately, no one told us that, and anyone who brushed their teeth with it became ill. Most of our party of 11 was stricken. Even our dog became quite ill. No one has been responsive to our complaint. Don't go here without proof the water has been fixed.
We rented this house for a family reunion and found it to look just like the photos-- a wonderful space with beautiful furnishings, a wrap around porch and plenty of lovely areas for sitting and sipping. With the beach just across the road and the Intracoastal behind the house we loved the views and letting the kids run down to the beach our out to the dock. However, we were surprised to find that the water is well water and not treated, so we couldn't drink it or use it for cooking and it smelled badly. We had to buy bottled water and ice for the week. We were also dismayed at all the hidden rental fees that added 25%+ to the price of the rental, including 10% tax, an amenity fee (we aren't sure what that was for; we also had to buy soap, toilet paper and other things normally supplied in a rental house) and a non-refundable damage waiver (again, normally a refundable damage deposit is charged and refunded when the rental is over). We had a wonderful time and love the house and hope the owner and rental agency correct these issues.
