The property is on the 1st floor (with lift) of a turn-of-century Italianate building called 'Palais Mireille'. It has been recently renovated with a new kitchen, and bathroom, but keeps the charm of its original chequered floor entrance, and the rooms of oak floors and high ceilings.
The property faces both north onto an inner courtyard and south onto the street, so that there is a cross-draft in summertime to keep you cool. Portable air conditionners (fans) are also provided for extra comfort if needed.
The apartment can sleep up to 6 (2 in the masterbedroom, 2 in the second bedroom, and an extra 2 on a sofabed in the living area). It is ideal for a family of 4, 2 couples or a group of friends. The property is equipped with Wifi, TV and telephone. .
Francis and Jane were there to welcome us despite our late arrival being one hour late. A lift for the baggage is a lovely convenience after lugging bags up many steps in Europe.
Francis and Jane made sure we knew the important things in the apartment and provided terrific local details, eg where to buy brilliant filled baguettes for EU3, which became a favourite for us. They also had other local conveniences listed like emergency medical contacts (for which we were very grateful), and directions to well priced local restaurants, shops etc. The local shop keepers where we bought supplies were a delight. Francis and Jane were also very responsive to requests during our stay.
The location is lovely, away from the noise of the old town but handy to walk everywhere. Easy access to the train made day trips to Eze, Monaco etc a breeze.
Nice itself is always a lovely city. You can explore galleries, the Old Town, and historical points or enjoy the beach and neighbouring bays.
The apartment is beautifully light and airy and well appointed with mod cons and was spacious for a European city apartment. I would be very happy to recommend this apartment.
We have been back 5 weeks now and can subjectively review our accommodation used during our 5 week holiday through France & Italy. The apartment is very well located in a nice area with the train station within walking distance to get away from Nice and visit the surrouding areas. There is a bakery, small supermarket and bar accross the road with very friendly staff (if like us your French is limited). We were warmly welcomed By the owners who gave use a guide tour of the apartment making sure we understood how to use everything. It is a large spacious clean apartment, lovely and bright in the morning sun. Have to say it was a great place to stay especially if you want to get away from the "tourist areas" but close enough to stroll to them each day, would recommend as worth staying here and if the oppurtunity arises would stay here again ourselves
We stayed here for just over a week and have no complaints whatsoever! Francis and Jane were more than helpful when we arrived and gave us great recommendations on what to do, see, where to go to eat etc. Property was perfectly located, 5 minutes walk from the main promenade, but still so quiet at night. I would definately recommend it to friends and family. One thing I would advise though is to bring your own towels/rugs for the stoney beach!! Finally I would recommend a restaurant in the old town (about 20 mins walk away) called Le Tire Bouchon - 19 Rue de la Préfecture. It was just such a pity that we only discovered this place on our last night!! Food was amazing - perfect place to finish up our holiday :)
My husband and I and our three teens loved this apartment. It is in a a lovely building and the amenities in the apartment are first class .The location is perfect - in the heart of beautiful old Nice, close to the beach, the Hotel Negresco, the promenade des Anglais, great restaurants, cafes, bakeries, shopping, and beautiful views. The owners are charming and provided much help to us and helpful information. It was all good!
We travelled as a family of two adults and 2 children (7 and 4). The apartment is handy to the main train station which is the drop off point for those who get the bus from the airport. It was easily found and the owner gave a good tour of the property upon arrival.
Less than 10 minutes walk to the promenade and the Russian Cathedral, slightly further to the old town. Easy access to a variety of play parks, restaurants, supermarkets etc. The boulangerie around the corner was a regular stop for fresh croissants and bread.
The apartment was clean and well fitted out with DVD player, washing machine, internet access etc. It got hot in the evenings when the windows were closed but that's hardly unusual in Nice during July! The tiny lift and circular staircase may make it unsuitable for those with disabilities.
I would have no problem recommending this property to family or friends. All our dealings with the owner went like clockwork and the apartment certainly met our expectations.
We, 2 adults and 2 teenage boys, had a very good long weekend in Nice. We travelled to Nice by Eurostar and TGV, the apartment was an easy, short walk from Nice station. We were met at the apartment by the owners who gave us a very thorough guided tour as well as advice on places to visit and restaurants.
The apartment was clean and well equipped. Beds were comfortable. It was a 7-8 minute walk to the beach and not much further to the main shopping and restaurant areas.
We went to Monaco for the Grand Prix on two days, and being so close to the railway station it made the whole experience very enjoyable.
Plenty of museums, art, galleries and shopping all in easy reach.
We would recommend the property for short breaks.
The apartment is in the Musician's Quarter, a residential area of Nice built in the Belle Epoque and very conveniently located in the centre of Nice at walking distance from many of the city's attractions and amenities (650m from the beach, 650m from the central train station, 1.1km from the Place Masséna).
