You just have to experience it to understand it. Shelby and Karen did a great job of accommodating our family of 6. When we arrived Shelby gave us a tour, and took the time to show us some baby owls that the kids loved. It was raining almost all day, but the kids found time to play in the turrets, and they also enjoyed the man cave. I enjoyed escaping outside at night to listen to the rain fall from the tree leaves. We were only able to stay for one night, but when we left my son Dylan was ecstatic when he found out Shelby sent a piece of meteorite home with us. He's a huge rock collector and it made his week! Shelby and Karen:. You are such gracious hosts and we will definitely be back next year for longer!
We are so happy you all enjoyed your stay! Your opening statement is perfect! It is almost impossible to put into words what it is like to stay at the castle. You just have to experience it.
Even with the rain, we're so happy you took advantage and enjoyed the peace and tranquility the castle offers. It was a rare treat to see those baby owls! You never know what you might see when you stay with us!
We hope you will come back again and stay longer! There is so much more to enjoy not only at the castle but in the surrounding Ozarks. Between shows and dining in Branson, there are multiple golf courses in the immediate area. Silver Dollar City is just a few minutes away or take in the breathtaking Buffalo National Park!
Thank you for staying with us! We look forward to seeing you again in the future!
Shelby and Karen
We loved staying at the castle and Shelby and Karen are great people.
The whole place is beautiful and spacious. We would love to some stay again.
Great as always!!
This is the third time I have stayed here and I will continue to come back. Shelby and Karen are more than willing to go out of their way to make you feel at home. They always send me home with a care package that warms the heart and they truly are a part of my family and not just the hosts. They treat us like their own!! This place is truly a work of art that they cherish and you will too!! I highly recommend it and I always tell my friends about it when telling them about my vacation. Can’t wait to go back!!!
Lacey Michelle's Castle in Omaha, Arkansas is like a little slice of heaven on earth. We had the pleasure of escaping the harsh winter weather of the North. We stayed from Jan. 15th - March 15th and were treated like family from the first time we talked to Karen and Shelby. The Castle is a beautiful, loving tribute built as a promise to Shelby's daughter who he lost at a very young age. The Cottage is a warm, cozy, inviting place to relax in any type of weather. It is located in an area close to many points of interest. We were just a few miles from Branson, Mo, and able to take advantage of all it had to offer. The Ozark region of Arkansas is so beautiful and the views so breathtaking. We were so glad Shelby told us about the beautiful Buffalo River area where we could go Elk watching, the town of Jasper and places to eat. We also enjoyed just staying in the cottage and watching all the deer and birds. Walking around the estate we were able to enjoy nature at it's best. If you get the privilege to stay at The Castle by all means take time to listen to Shelby tell stories and history of the area. You will be glad you did. Karen & Shelby are such caring and sharing hosts. They will be seeing our names, along with many of our friends & relatives names appearing in the guest book in the future. Wish we were still there. Barb & Jerry (a/k/a Harry and Hilda)
We loved, loved, LOVED having you for a 2 month stay and feel like you are family for sure! Thank you for teaching me the craft project for the coasters! My kids will be thrilled when they receive theirs!
Thank you for sharing your lives with us, introducing us to family, showing us pics of that new great-grandbaby and just visiting.
We are so glad that we can keep in touch with you, and love seeing your posts on social media.
We can't wait to see you both again!!!
All our love to you guys! <3
Quiet and peaceful. You will not want to leave.
We really enjoyed our 3 night stay. Went to Branson one day, but all we wanted to do when we got there was turn around and go back to the castle!
Those comments warm out hearts! We hope you'll come back and stay longer so you can not only see more of the gorgeous Ozarks, but spend time enjoying the castle!
Just FYI - in the later spring and in the summer months, all the way into early fall the garden is growing and we share all the bounties with our guests! We are a non-profit and the remainder of veggies are sold to local grocery stores with the proceeds go into our scholarship fund for local seniors!
Not to mention is more fun to grill out and enjoy the pool when it's warm! We hope you'll share your experience with your friends and family!
Loved it, and so did the grandkids
The only down fall was the mile long very, very, very bumpy road. The owners were very friendly. The castle was awesome.
We are so happy you all enjoyed your stay! That 1 mile stretch of road must have been absolutely awful after the terrible accident you are recovering from!
We have a promise from our County Judge that the road, especially the 1 mile guests travel to reach us, will be repaired! There have been so many natural disasters in the past few months that the counties' resources have been stretched thin. We are just so sorry that after suffering those terrible injuries, traveling that 1 mile must have increased your pain.
We loved hearing your grandchildren squeal with delight. And it warmed our hearts to know your granddaughter said "Best day ever!" As we are a non-profit organization, we strive to offer families a great place to stay that does not break the bank and will leave more money to vacation on! We sincerely hope you all made tons of memories not only of the castle but of your entire trip, that will be remembered and cherished forever!
We hope you will return and get to enjoy even more of the beauty of the Ozarks. And hopefully you will be able to enjoy the beauty of the 1 mile of county road, without bumps!
12/5 - Noticed that some markers have been placed on the county road! Looks like improvements are on the way!
4/4/18 Update - the County has made great headway on road improvements and continue to do so!
