We have a 2 bedroom, 2 bath house that will sleep 8. We have satellite TV and a PS2 with a decent selection of games. A DVD player is also included. There is a washer and dryer available for your use. We have a full kitchen with small appliances for your use. A huge deck and fire pit to enjoy the sunsets. We are close to town and easy driving distance to many ski resorts, hiking, biking trails.
We live in Denver and we are looking to rent our retirement home while we move to our retirement years.
Norman Shaw purchased this chalet in 1995
This is a great place to vacation. Not to cold, not to warm, just perfect year round.
We are close to anything outside you want to do.
This cabin was perfect for our trip. It was not in the hub-bub of town, yet just minutes from shopping. On top of that Salida was the central position for all our plans. The cabin was beautiful, clean and very welcoming. We would definitely recommend it to others.
We had a great time. The cabin is in a nice location. Quiet neighborhood. Norman was always accessible and helpful! There are lots of things to do in the Salida/Buena Vista area. We zip lined and rafted Brown's Cabin.
This cabin was perfect for me, my two boys and my mom and her husband. The bedroom with the bunk-bed and queen size bed and a bath across the hall for the 3 of us and the king size bed in the loft with a private bath worked great for them. The place is clean and tidy with plenty of room to stretch out. The large windows let in all the sunshine, breeze and picturesque scenery. The deck has a table and chairs and a hammock to sit out and enjoy the panoramic mountain view. Just about anything you would want in the kitchen: it's there.
The cabin does not have air conditioning, but weather conditions for our trip were perfect for opening the windows.
There are some games and cards in the closet, plenty of maps and some books. There is a TV - we didn't turn it on, so I can't say about reception/choices.
The cabin is set well off the main road in a spread-out, neighborhood type setting. It was quiet and peaceful. If you like to get out for a walk or run you will not have an issue with vehicles and there is plenty of mileage without leaving the neighborhood. The town of Salida is only a few minutes away. The local Safeway store is small, but don't let that fool you - they have a good variety of items and many organic choices too.
Our time was spent doing many of the nearby activities - white water rafting, hiking, the ghost town of St. Elmo, a gondola ride up Monarch Pass - all 15-45 minutes away. The town did a nice fireworks display for July 4th that was easily seen from the cabin so that's an extra treat if your trip takes you there at that time.
And if I didn't mention the star-gazing you can do from the deck, I would be doing you a dis-favor! We set our alarms for the middle of the night to find all the constellations on the charts and the Milky Way.
I will definitely recommend Norman's cabin to anyone I know headed out to this part of Colorado. And if my travels take me back to this area, I will stay again!
Norman's home was a wonderful place for our group to stay in over the Memorial weekend. Cute log cabin home with beautiful views on the mountains. Just a quick trip to get downtown but far enough away to still get that cabin feel. Dog accommodating which was wonderful! Norman was great at getting back to us via text and very friendly. I would recommend this place to anyone. I would love to stay here again! :)
This home is clean, located close to downtown Salida in a quiet neighborhood. There is a nice deck to have coffee in the morning while you view the mountains. There are two bedrooms and two bathrooms which is plenty for a family. The sky will keep you busy at night looking for constellations. We were lucky enough to see a full moon rise between the mountains and view Venus two nights. The sunsets are spectacular from just about anywhere in Salida. Plan on spending some time downtown to shop, but remember most close by 5:30 p.m. This is a great place to stay if you love to jeep, river raft, hike, fish or just plain relax. There is a Safeway grocery store, plenty of nice restaurants and a Wal-Mart if you forget something you cannot live without. Have a great time in the mountains.
This cabin has a stunning view of Salida and the surrounding mountains. Truly beautiful sight from the main living space thanks to the floor-to-ceiling windows. The cabin is well-maintained and cozy with nice amenities. Although the cleaning person left a few untidy (not dirty) things the owner was very helpful with our requests and questions. EASY access to Salida, quick drive to Monarch Skiing, Mt Princeton Hot Springs, and Buena Vista. Would definitely stay here again. Our group really enjoyed the kid's toys too!
Local Breweries, wineries, exploring, Great Sand Dunes, skiing. This is a year round playground. Monarch Mountain gets 400 plus inches of snow a year. Amazing jeep trails, single track and jeep roads to be ridden by mountain bike or dirt bike. Salida offers something to do every weekend. You will always be able to find something to do.
