About this property

Charming Stone House in a very Children Friendly village. Walk to harbor & Beach

Our house is extremely charming and spacious with a big terrace and garden. The house is a typical fisherman house made of local stones. We remodeled the house in 2009 to transformed the little rooms into spacious ones with ample natural lighting. The house is composed of 1 master bedroom, and three other bedrooms, two bathrooms, 1 large living room with a piano, 1 large dinning room with an open kitchen. A 10mn walk thru a path in the forest will lead you to the reputed and charming harbor of Doelan, where you will find restaurants and some beaches. There is also a mini-market 15 mn walk away and two major supermarkets 2 to 3km away at the main nearby villages of Clohars-Carnoet and Moellans-sur-mer. Attractions to see not too far: From Doelan you can take a small ferry boat for a day trip to the beautiful and typical island of Groix.
We also are 15mn drive away from Pont Aven (a typical and charming harbor/village that is famous for it's Brittany butter cookies and delicacies and for it's ample arts galleries. Pont Aven was the home for many years of the famous painter Paul Gauguin. Also, you could drive 45 mn to Quimper (old capital of britanny) which offers a beautiful old city with typical architectures, a gorgeous cathedral and many restaurant and tourist activities. Concarneau (40 mn drive away) is a Medieval fortified Village on the water. Also 45 mn away the 'Golf du Morbihan' with it's 350 islands is a day trip you will not regret. The Carnac stones are an exceptionally dense collection of megalithic sites and is also about 45 mn drive away. This is just a sample of what can be visited around our house, and inside our house we have a book with many more informations about sites and visits to be done and seen.

Fantastic host and property
I went there with some friends the second week of Aug, during Lorient festival. Ariane welcomed us with a fantastic tour of the house and some delicious Apple juice from the local farm. The house is extremely charming, the garden large and beautiful. Couldn't ask for more. It's very quiet and you'll find everything you need inside, in perfect condition too. Ariane was also very helpful to help us organize or trip, and shared useful tips all along our stay. One more comment: the local bakery/patisserie, not even 10min bike from the house... has one of the best bread in France (it's quite famous in the region) and the best dessert selection in a 50km perimeter, easy! Nearby are also perfect kite surf spots. Many thanks Ariane, Kind regards, Gaetan

The charms of Brittany
Quiet, peaceful location within easy walking distance of the charming port of Doelan and it's creeks, coastal walks and restaurants. A very comfortable and charming home with all the comforts and a lovely garden that the children and dog thoroughly enjoyed. Welcoming and helpful host. can highly recommend.

Evaluation maison
On recommande!

We always had the dream to own a vacation home in Bretagne. My daughter is an avid sailor and fell in love the first time she set sails in Doelans, the harbor down the forest path from our house. I, always loved the relaxed and beautiful views of South Bretany and I also fell in love with Doelans and Le pouldu. I was born in the Loire valley, and raised my family in the center of Paris where I still live and work, but now I have the luxury to rest in the calm and warm welcomes of our friends and neighbors in Kerviglouse. Kerviglouse is a very unusual hameau since 80% of the house are lived in all year aropund and mostly by young family with children, which makes this village so lively and enjoyable for our family.

Why they chose this property

I bought this property in 2007 with my daughter and her husband who renovated this old fisherman home into the gorgeous and charming house it is today. My twin grandchildren were born in Lorient, and started their life in this home. Every child you will cross in the village, has been one of those little face that was knocking on the door to meet the new kids on the block. Every other year, when my daughter and her family visit for the entire summer, this house transforms into a giant windmill of children coming by.

What makes this property unique

It was the region, Doelans and the island of Groix that first made us look around this area. And, then it was the old stone house and the beautiful 'chemin creu' (pathway thru the forest) that made us fell in love. We loved the potential of this house, being a total fix or upper. In the end, we are over joyed and feel so extremely lucky to have ending up in this vibrant little hameau (village) where we have so many friends. The three generations of our family, not only enjoy the house, but also the neighbors and their farm animals and pets!
